    Hi

I am looking for a decent fitness gym somewhere in Limerick City.
Does anybody have any recommendations including what the cost might be?

I'm in JJB, and its a great gym. Staff are nice, and there are lots of treadmills, rowers, bikes and cross trainers. Weights machines are plentiful, but some are a bit light (both hamstring curl machines are easy (for me) at full weight).

Dumbells go up to 50kg (in intervals of 2kg), but for some bizarre reason, the intervals jump to 4kg above 30kg (34, 38 etc.). It has swimming pool and large changing room. The price I'm paying is €45, and I think for the next couple of weeks there is no joining fee (I think I saw a flyer about it this morning).

Go in and get a tour anyway, and see what you think.

A lot of gyms in Limerick are feeling the bite of JJB. The place where I am, Grove Island, used to be VERY busy in the eveningtimes, so I had to schedule my weight sessions for 7am (they open at that time just three mornings in the week) so that I'd have a clear run of all machines for the supersets I'd been prescribed by my trainer.

Now it wouldn't matter if I spent 10 minutes on the pec deck in the eveningtime, and it's a veritable ghost gym in the morningtimes.

The one reservation I'd have about JJB is its location - tiring to get there at the weekends when the shoppers come in their throngs, an even longer weekday morning journey to Shannon, and (politically/racially incorrect though it may be to say so) a little too near the haulting site for my liking.

(On the last point though, Grove Island is starting to attract more and more unsavoury types who hang around the car park and have shopping trolley races down the ramps... so I guess every place has its downside).
