Okay Kernel, so everybody lies (apparently a lot), but it seems particularly shameful to lie so often that you're not even aware that you're lying. You'd think that the more you were aware of it, that the less you would do it. So in the interest of self-improvement, I was trying to consciously remember the last time I lied, which turned out to be this afternoon when I told you that you were one of my dearest friends and i really admired you. Reason for lying: sloth.

When I said I wasn't with your Girlfriend in Dundalk the other week... I admit.. I also told a lie... we checked into a hotel on a friday, and emerged from our room on Sunday.... I'm sorry man, it didn't mean anything. (well, not to me).

To be honest I don't think that there is anyone that I know that I haven't lied to.:

Teachers:homework not done, test is for tomorrow not today etc.

Friends:What I think of their clothes hair etc

    Parents:Everything I do

    Boyfriend:small things cant remember

My life would be over if my parents found out even some very small things about my life

Ah come on Aisling buddy, you're better than that, stop the porkies and start telling some truths.
Some alternatives to lying are: changing the subject, answering a different question than the one asked, ignoring the question, or answering the question with a question. lying to agree with someone's vanity or self-deception, or their mis-conception, is also wrong even if that is what they want to hear.
    Gimme some truth

Great thing about lying is that if you tell the same lie enough then you start to believe it and therefore it's no longer a lie to you....... Like that time Johnny Depp's car broke down and it was poring rain. I heard a knock on the door (bell was broken) and when I opened it,there he was!

He kissed me roughly and threw me onto the couch. He tore off my clothes and his wet hair dripped onto my naked body. We made love through the night and then the AA came and off he went.

Kernel you're petty taunts shall be ignored by me in the future. These shall be my last utterances towards you

Wrong fusion94210.Good lies require good liars and you my crapply monikored friend are not a good liar. You see fuse, memory is the key. Remembering past lies is critical to being a good liar. From personal experience women never forget what you've told them and never lie to your mother. Usually a good lie works only once and diminishes in effectiveness every time its told thereafter. A good liar must be prepared to take a punch and you my friend are fearful of the punches.C'mon buddy those lies your spouting arent fooling nobody.

Ah jank, the day you say someting interesting should be the day pighead retires, but I fear our porcine pal will be ploughing a long furrow at that rate.

    Interesting eh?

Maybe we dont share the same interests and hobbies, but I say interesting things all the time but as the old saying goes. "If a tree falls in an empty forest does it make a sound?"

    Pighead,
I have to admit, sometimes I catch myself telling little fibs, and I disapoint myself. Although using fibs is so much more conveniant! but I shouldnt at all, should I? I'd never warp the truth to the extent that young Pernel would...Im not that insecure :p . But yeah, little fibs the odd time...only when Im put on the spot and usually over little things that arent very significant, but still, I dont like it all the same.

Help me be a better man!

His brother never said that... you're telling pork pies Piggy, PORK PIES!

OK I demand to know what the truth is with Pighead. Is he 'manned' by the likes of devore and regi etc to maintain interest in boards? Is he their pet project? A seemingly genius poster who we are supposed to think is a real person, but is in fact several, designed to keep us interested, amused and talking.
Without a doubt, Pighead is the best thing about boards. Tell us the truth, what's the conspiracy with Pighead? He's too much of an enigma to be just one person!

Keep loading on the appreciation and he's going to turn into another bubbles which would be quite annoying. Take it easy, there is no hype....your just a normal boardster aren't you pighead?

Third person talk is pretty crap tbh though over all, pighead you can be annoying but your ok!

Pighead's da bomb lad's, no denying it!

Lying.... It really depends on the magnitude of things, but on the big scale the truth will always leak out somewhere along the way, and things will get sooooo f*ckt up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,349 ✭✭✭nobodythere

True Mr. Rack, true! Eventually keeping a lie under your belt becomes such an arduous task. It's like those people who keep the plates spinning on sticks... except every new person that finds out is an extra plate that you have to keep spinning. Lies WILL catch up with you unless they're tiny little white lies.

And life is better that way, because if I had got away with some lies I've told in the past I'd be a corrupted asshole

Which now puts "Like Spinning Plates" by Radiohead in context

Then ir should be "La Rack". "Le" is the masculine.

It's just Le Rack, I didn't come up with it as I do german... And the Le sounds cooler than La

I'm inclined to agree op people lie all the time, me included. I used to be brutally honest. I used to get in a lot of trouble for it, stick off friends etc about insulting x or y. In my mind i was baffeled, they asked a question i gave them an answer. Sadly i now know, people dont want to know the truth, they want you to tell them what they want to hear. It's sad but thats the way things are. So ya we lie, we accept others lies and we ignore situations when we know we are being lied to but thats the what we want to hear. Its a crime to be wrong these days, don't you know that?

    regards,
    Cynic.

As far as I remember, words can be masculine or feminine and a lot of the time the person to which they relate plays no part in it all.

lying can be a method of self protection and a great identifier to a persons suffering. take the op's friend 'pernel' ... he said he was doing a young one when he was playing computer games. to me that shows that pernel has very low self esteem, he isnt confident enough to actually go and try his luck pulling so he lies about it.

maybe you should reassure your friend as opposed to enlightening the world to his lies. your obviously the kind of friend that he thinks wants to hear these lies. im not saying you made him lie, but he obviously doesnt feel 100% comfortable with you if he lies about stuff like this. tell him he's a friend.

anyway thats lightweight compared to some stuff that people have done, cast your eyes hear http://www.postsecret.blogspot.com/ some people have lots of baggage because of the lies they've told... but maybe society has become such an impossible place that people who cant keep up just lie cos its a hell of a lot easier than really fitting in sometimes
