I got that email today as well from CD-WOW... but I just logged in and did a search for my order number and it comes up as 'Dispatched'.

It doesn't say when it was dispatched though.

Steveland? you might get lucky.. perhaps they've already dispacthed your one as well.

Does it list a dispatch date for you? That column is empty for me for some reason so it makes me a bit suspicious.

Perhaps the website has automatically set itself to 'Dispatched' as the date for dispatching arrived.

Mine's still in purple (pre-release) and doesn't seem to have been cancelled yet...

Still doesn't say it's been dispatched though...

    Thank you for your e-mail.

I must apologise for the delay but I can confirm that the stock has now come
in and this item will be shipped in the next 24 hours.

An email will confirm when the title actually leaves the warehouse.

If you require any further assistance then please do not hesitate to contact
    us again.

I got an e-mail saying it'd be put back until the 23rd (Friday), but there's still no despatch date on my order page, and it's still in purple.

    Hey qz!

Love the 28 Days Later quote in your sig. I've always wondered if Cillian came up with that one himself.

It's hilarious. I watched it again the other day and I pissed myself at that part. Thought it suited boards... ;)

That's bad! Talk about CD Wow seriously underestimating demand. :(

Time to cancel and go with another company, Basquille? I don't want to rub it in but I got my DVD within a week from Movietyme.

I sent them an email today:

    Hello,

I placed the order for this product (CD WOW! Order No. xxxxxxxx) on the 29/08/2005. I didn't actually receive the order number until the following Friday. I had to email you requesting it as I was trying to track the item.

Between the time I placed the order and now, I have received 4 "Order Delay" emails from you regarding this product:
    • 06/09/2005, delayed until 09/09/2005
    • 09/09/2005, delayed until 12/09/2005
    • 12/09/2005, delayed until 19/09/2005
    • 21/09/2005, delayed until 23/09/2005
Next Thursday will be a full month since I've ordered the item, and yet I am still waiting. The order status on the tracking system seems to be stuck on "Pre-Release".

Another item I ordered from CD WOW!, Half-Life 2 (CD-ROM) Windows [order #xxxxxxxx] (13/09/2005), has also been delayed (twice), and still no sign of shipping. It's currently stuck on "Pending Despatch".

I'm beginning to wonder if CD WOW! are no longer interested in my custom? I've been talking to a few others also interested in the "Lost Season 1" DVD box set. They ordered from your competitors (namely Amazon, dvdpacific, dvdempire, Movietyme, PlayUSA etc.) and have already received their orders. I actually cancelled my order with Amazon in favour of using CD WOW! - a mistake I won't be making in the future, unless you can convince me otherwise.

Please tell me what the problem is with the orders I placed.

    Yours,
    Me
I got 3 emails back from them within the space of a half hour. The first one was:

    Hi

May I start by apologising for the delay with your order, I can certainly
    appreciate your frustration.

The reason that the item has been delayed so many times is down to the fact
that our suppliers cannot fulfill the order as they originally predicted.
Whilst we are doing our best to make sure all orders are fulfilled as soon
as possible, on this occasion we have no option but to put the dispatch date
back again, sorry. We are only able to go by the information they have given
us and as soon as we receive this we pass it on to all customers involved.

In light of these continued delays if you would prefer to cancel the order
and receive a full refund please let us know.

My sincere apologies again for the delay and I do hope you will consider
    using us in the future.

    Best Regards

The second email was an e-Voucher for a whole £2!

    Hello

    Thank you for your email.

Can I start by apologising to you very much for this delay.

I am afraid we have experienced a delay in receiving this item from our suppliers. We do have the item on order which is why we are accepting orders from customers .

This situation is as annoying and frustrating for us as it is for you and I can certainly appreciate your feelings.

The latest date we have for the dispatch of this item is the 5th October as we advised you but I am afraid that this date is not guaranteed. These dates that we send to customers are simply the latest dates that we ourselves have been told and they may well be put back.

I assure you that we will try to dispatch this item as soon as we can for you but if you do not wish to wait then please let us know and we will cancel the order and refund you in full.

I have sent a goodwill gesture e voucher to use on any future order.

Once again, our sincere apologies for the situation.

    Have a good weekend.

    Kind regards

So, something I ordered in August may be shipped in October. Hmm.

I've never been an avid fan of CD WOW!, more of a Play.com man myself...think I'll be staying that way.

So where's the next cheapest & most reliable place to get the box set?

    btw: it's still all basquille's fault! :p

I'd try Movietyme ...was fairly happy with the service and they wont incur a customs charge as they are shipping from within UK for this item...its £29.99 and an email sent with their latest titles etc on Friday shows they have it in stock. Mine was disptahced same day and I got it 8 days later althougn someone else (genie) I think got it in 4 days!! In an email to me re customs charges they will refund if you send original proof of customs charge.

    Free shipping to Ireland too!

Amazon.com are also fairly cheap but if you go for priority shipping and could be hit with a customs charge

Hehe, nice one...maybe Irish customs/postal service arent so diligent (sp?!) saw on a UK DVD forum a good few people getting stung for approx £8.00 customs charges getting it priority from Amazon

    Fair play :D

Finally took a bit of action and sent them this:
I ordered "Lost - The Complete First Season" from your website on the 30th of August. My order number is: xxxxxxxx

I have received numerous (four, infact) e-mails from you stating that the shipment of the DVD has been delayed.

    1. We are currently awaiting stock of this title and hope to be able to dispatch this item to you on the 9/09/2005.
    2. The arrival of stock from our supplier has been further delayed. The advised shipping date for this title is now the 12/09/2005
    3. The arrival of stock from our supplier has been further delayed. The advised shipping date for this title is now the 19/09/2005
    4. The arrival of stock from our supplier has been further delayed. The advised shipping date for this title is now the 23/09/2005

It is currently the 25/09/2005. According to you, my DVD was supposed to be shipped two days ago, but I have yet to receive a confirmation e-mail, or one of your all-too familiar "Order Delayed" e-mails. How can you expect your customers to take you seriously when you mess us around like this? This is my first and last time using CD-Wow, a service I will not be recommending, or using myself again.

    Get your act together.

<SNIP> Was gonna offer the DVD's copied cheaper but decided against it as it has to be illegal. Nearly possitive it is.</SNIP>

Quick question - are there any delivery charges with MovieTyme? They seem to be the next best thing to Amazon, which has turned out to be the worst thing.

(edit: just found out that there aren't any extra charges. Happy Days.)

Why has amazon turned out to be the worst thing?

Erm, possibly because they still don't have the DVD in stock even when it was meant to be shipped on the 6th of September. It's now the 26th! It was the cheapest place to buy the DVD, but the worst when it came down to actually giving it to you even after you paid for it!
