What would you do if you seen a sign saying..

Coeliac Toaster?

i only noticed it the other day on the toaster i have been using in work for the past 6 months, now not knowing what it meant i just ignored it, now by chance i asked a guy i work with as i was taking my toast out

he told me, and i said "oh....crap....ah well"

for anyone that doesnt know, coeliacs are allergic to wheat & other things

you think they could have put a more detailed sign up

I'd find out what it meant if I didn't already know. People don't usually stick notes on toasters without a good reason. What was stopping you?

Coeliacs can't eat Gluten, which is in a lot of things, wheat included. Imagine not being able to have flour, pasta, beer? Bummer.
It's nice of the people in your work to have a special toaster. I can imagine not many places do that - we certainly don't.

As far as I know, eating gluten can make them ill. I don't think anyone is going to drop dead.

1)i only noticed the sign on the wedbesday & asked the guy on the thursday
2)the place i work has signs on everything, so u tend to ignore most of them

the coeliac toaster is a regular toaster, the ordinary toaster is one of thos rotary ones that just warms the bread(ie lightly toasts it)

i always thought people were just too lazy to use a normal toaster

Presumably it's the same type of toaster, it just is only used for gluten-free bread so it doesn't get contaminated

there are 2 toaster, first one is for regular bread & is a rotary toaster (crap)
second one is a regular toaster for coeliacs

well i havent seen anyone drop dead yet so i think im in the clear

Well you could at least take it home and give it a good clean..
or if you want to be extra nice you could buy them a new one.

My prospective mother-in-law is a Coeliac & there is one of these in her house..... man, there's a ****load they can't eat/drink.... really sucks!!!!!

it barely warms the bread at the moment, buit yes that was my original reason why i used the other toaster

I'd say you'll be fine, they're not going to die just because a few crumbs of normal bread got onto their cornbread or whatever. One of my friends is a coeliac and if she eats stuff with wheat in it she just gets stomach pains, but I mean that's when she eats an entire sandwich. A few crumbs shouldn't make much difference, but now that you know you should probably use the normal toaster

it's dangerous and irresponsible of you to encourage people to put books into a toaster of any kind and you should be ashamed of yourself.

almost as ashamed as I am for posting such a crap comment.

but on a side note, I'd have just assumed that it was for some special type of bread like a muffin toaster or bagel or something.

couldnt' they write on it saying gluten free breads only? it's only about half a dozen letters longer, and is much easier for us dimwits to figure out.
