    High Five! :D;)

Mine cost €52 from playusa, but no customs tax!

It probably would be better to cancel with cd wow, seeing as it said the 19th, it might get to you around that date if you changed to another web site

I'm debating between Movietyme who are £29.99 with free shipping to Ireland and 'apparently' according to some dvd forums customs safe and Axel who are £34.99 and are excellent and ship very promptly with no customs risk.

Am far from impressed with cdwow as have had alot of stuff delayed by them recently and very annoying how they dont take stuff off the website if its out of stock.

Gah, another week to wait for another delay! This is all basquille's fault :D

    lol,ye blame basquille! :D

    I cancelled today,and re-ordered with amazon.com

Im fed up waiting for it so I paid for priority shipping, meaning it will be here in 2-4 days, when it is shipped, which should be within 24 hours. That obviously costs more and altogether it comes to €55. I got my brother to chip in €10 for shipping so I am only paying €45 altogther,€5 more than CdWow,but won't have to wait another 2 weeks!

I ordered it from Movietyme who say they will refund you if you are charged for customs on receipt of a bill. (apparently they ship from within the UK though so hope it will be ok!) and it dispatched this afternoon ...hopefully will be here soon enough!

So a 'i'm very disssapointed in you' email has been sent to cdwow!!!!!

Have just cancelled my order with CD Wow as I'm moving house on the 26th and it looks as though my order won't be here by then. I've gone with Movietyme instead. Disappointed in CD Wow, this is the first time this has happened and I've ordered a fair few things with them over the years. :(

I did this as well, although we're probably gonna get screwed on customs too!

    (UPS is the shipping company)

Cancelled my CD Wow order last night and immediately re-ordered with Movietyme. Just got an e-mail from them saying that my order has been despatched. That's service for you! :D

But to give CDd Wow their due, they did acknowledge my cancellation and refunded me very quickly.

How long did it take your refund to process? I cancelled yesterday but the money has not gone back in yet...

I haven't checked my balance yet but I got an e-mail last night from World Pay saying that I had been refunded in full. Might take a couple of days to go through.

Well, as much as the R1 DVD is causing problems (mostly with not arriving), be thankful we've taken the plunge to buy it at all. Look what the poor fools on R2 will be getting...

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000B0LHWE/qid=1126645441/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/202-7865591-2349459

This is such bad value, I don't even know where to start! €40 for HALF A SEASON...! Why is it in two parts at all?! (The West Wing tried this years ago and then started releasing proper sets.) I can only assume this is to placate Ch4 (all the episodes on the first half of the box set will have aired by then), but it is madness to release a set costing this much when only half the episodes are on it...!

I hope the fans protest on this one, not least on its hefty price tag...

if im thinking correctly, ups pay the customs tax for you, and then 'request' it from you when they deliver your package to your door

you have to sign for it too

    Yeah.. that's correct!

Unfortunately.. according to people on the Online Buying / Auctions forum, you're pretty much guaranteed to get caught for customs ordering through UPS!

I don't mind waiting a week or two for my Lost Boxset as i've got plenty of other stuff to watch while i'm waiting (Scrubs DVD, Undeclared DVD due this week, Prison Break etc.) and to be honest, paying under €40 plus no chance of customs still outweighs a week or two wait!

Just pray it's not delayed next week! :D

My thoughts exactley Basq. What with all the legally obtained epsides on my iPod, I can manage for a few more days. Weeks. Months :(

    D'oh - was that ordered through amazon.com?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,510 ✭✭✭viking

    Yup,

Still, at least it'll be quicker than "2-week Cdwow"....

Oh, and tvnutz, you'll have to pay those charges prior to receiving the DVD from UPS.

Normally I wouldn't dream of paying this much for a DVD but as its a prezzie for Mrs Viking and I need it before this weekend I don't mind too much.

Just a quick note regarding Amazon.com and customs:

If you ordered with Amazon.com with regular shipping (can take 21 days to a month to arrive), you will more than likely not get taxed as that goes through USPS/Air Mail (both are handled by An Post on arrival in Ireland and they don't seem to care where the stuff's come from).

But you selected the faster shipping options - it'll be sent by UPS/DHL, you'll get taxed (as they have their own internal systems to flag up the tax liability, from the shipping manifests).

UPS charge a €16 "handling charge" for charging you with the customs tax. So nice of them...

    ie. my customs bill breaks down as 14.16 (Tax+VAT) + €16 = €30.16

Wouldn't normally do it but I need to get the DVD fairly sharpish. (I was aware I'd get hammered with customs though before I purchased)

Well, I was bit worried with CDWOW and the delays (although hopefully I'll be proved massivly wrong and all the people who kept faith with them will get their sets soon :) ) but I had a dvd that I ordered Aug 4th with cdwow and they finally dispatched it today Sept 14th!!!!!!

Have had a few things lately where delays of 2-3 weeks have been common. Although as Genie said they had replied and cancelled the order within 30 mins of the email being sent and refund back on today.

    Ok DVD arrived yesterday afternoon.

Myself and Mrs Viking have watched the remaining episodes. I must say, its so much better to have proper widescreen (not cut off like RTE) and 5.1 audio, it made the viewing experience so much better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,016 ✭✭✭✭vibe666

not to mention not having to listen to those god aweful O2 ads before and after each ad break. If I'd had to listen to them for every episode, I really don't think I'd have made it to the end of the series. not to mention that i might well have had to cancel my O2 account in protest and gone with someone else.

    thanks god for other means.
