Does anyone find Des Bishop funny ? I think he has about as much wit as an
unflushed toilet. Sure, his delievery is imbued with great energy and ethusiasm
but thats about as far as his act goes as far as I am concerned. He claims that he is here to observe the Irish and find humour in us. Observational comedy ?? A taxi driver would have more observational comedy that this guy. What do people think ?

He is legend, I have lived in the states for a while so I can see where he is coming from.

Can't say his 'brand' of humour appeals to me very much to be honest.

Yeah, I think he can be very funny. Was watching him on RTE2 last week and laughed alot. But its peoples taste I suppose. I wouldnt like Jason Byrne much where others might. Or I think Ken Dodd :o is gas while others don't!

I thought the Work Experience programme was great, but his stand-up isn't terribly good.

The man has his moments. A damn sight funnier than most people who consider themselves "witty".

On one hand he proposses to help poor people in underpriviledged areas. On the other hand he uses them as material by patronising them and undermining them on stage.

Personally I think he's an unfunny arsehole.

I think a pretty funny guy...he is a hell of a lot funnier than that Ricky Gervais guy from "The Office"....cant stand him....i'd prefer watch paint dry than listen 2 him!!

    I enjoyed the work experience, but I don't think he's a good stand-up comedian.

I think he's the most unfunny, banal excuse for a comedian around.

    Never found him particularly funny.
And that cringe inducing white boy rapping he does (if he still does it?)make's Vanilla Ice sound like N.W.A.

Not funny. He has his own cult of follows kind of like the frames in their hayday that won't hear no wrong about him. I find him brutally unfunny, sarcastic and insulting. Sure throw in an american accent and we can all do that.

He has been around for ages as well so this american blow in routine is rubbish. Go home find a job ya bum.

Yeah he's been here over 10 years hasnt he?

Some of his stuff is great, some of it is brutal but overall i find him amusing enough to watch.

perfectly summed up. the american blow-in routine is flogging a dead horse and is cringing to listen to at this stage.

I think he is HILARIOUS!But am thinking that he couldnt make a living in any other country because all he talks about is ireland.

Yeah I think hes a legend personally. ALways good for a laugh :)

I liked him in the Des Bishop Work Experience, but I don't think he's a talented comedian. I think his main draw in this country is the fact that he's an American pointing out the oddities of the Irish. I get the feeling if he was English that no one would like him at all, because all the Irish would stand up and say "**** off tan".

Yes he's funny, the work experience programme was good too.

for someone who was complaining about bishop being insulting you sure did contradict yourself there, "Go home find a job ya bum" .. classy. how do you find him insulting by the way, just out of curiosity?
