there is an app you can get called dvd x player which plays all regions even if you have no changes left.

    dvd x player

    i think it costs $50 though :(

but you can try it for 30 days.

i tried the trial version with my region one dvd of wonderfalls but it caused it to crash twice in a row so i don't know if it's reliable

I think you can buy codes off e-bay that unlock your dvd player permantly. Just type it into ebay.

i have to say its excellent so far, on episode 10 now as i missed most of them on RTE 2 so far due to work.

Videolan didnt work for me as it said that i hadnt the right region and then when i tried to change the region it wouldnt let me.Most other apps recommended only worked for 15 mins as they were trial versions and i couldnt be arsed on my day off trying to fix it.So i got dvd region + CSS free for 30 euro online. The demo version only works for 15 mins.

    Ahem... customs!?

On the subject of R1 importing and customs, been doing this with various companies (first DVDExpress, DVDSoon for a while, Amazon for ages...) and customs has never been an issue.

Maybe DVDPacific are a bit more likely to get caught, but for the last two years all my Amazon.com packages have come through without any mention of customs. (I'm putting this down to the Allemagne sticker on the box, which makes it look like it's come in from Germany. I've also had a few sent to work and they may be less likely to check ones to businesses.) I wonder if the German sticker winds up in .com parcels being rerouted unchecked into normal An Post post.

Long story short, I've never been stung and I wonder if anyone on here has been with Amazon.com. They may be slightly better to use for importing considering that their boxes are relatively indistinguishable from the .co.uk ones (OK, except for the .co.uk/.com part!), but considering how many packages go through customs daily...

In any case, Amazon emailed on the 2nd of September to say Lost had shipped, so hopefully it'll arrive on Monday.

The CD WOW Lost deal sounds good, but for TV show boxsets, I've never been let down by Amazon because the prices are usually so low (mostly $25-35) as to offset any bump in final total caused by the shipping (about $6ish).

Yeah, it is. Hoping my booklet is in my set, but if it isn't for any of us, it should be possible to dial that number by going for 001-800-etc. (That certainly works for UK 0800 numbers - 0044 800 etc.) If not, we might be able to contact Buena Vista via their US website. What's the bet, though, that they end up saying "You weren't supposed to buy that region in the first place...!"?

    Thank you for your e-mail.

I am very sorry for the delay but we are having a lot of trouble in
obtaining this item from the distributor.

As soon as we have definite shipping information, we will let you know by
    email.

Once again, sorry for the inconvenience caused to you by this delay, and
thank you very much for your patience - it is sincerely appreciated.

However I can understand your frustration and if you wish to cancel and

This is reply to email sent to CDWOW today to see if Lost would be dispatched today as epr their last email...not very encouraging :( and am wondering if its worth cancelling it and re-ordering with Movietyme or Axel as they are fairly quick!
