you don't think there's a link between someone being paranoid/ashamed of their body and being crap in bed? I certainly do.

Irish girls in general are very conservative and uncomfortable with nudity in front of others. I don't think it's because they are unhygenic because I haven't met too many.

I live in Germany now and all of the places I've been to that involves nudity, ie. gyms, saunas, pools etc have shower cubicles. Some of the places even have communal changing rooms. Everyone walks around naked in the saunas, men, women, young and old, fat and skinny plus everyone uses a towel when in the sauna. You would actually get thrown out for wearing swimgear there.

So it's really just the Irish conservatism and maybe embarassment at being naked.

sick because they haven't showered the sweat offa them.

ok its not nice, but don't use the word sick, its too powerful, it should be reserved for incest, the word you want here is "nasty"

We aren't talking bout nudity here. All thats required is that u shower and get dressed. It's not that hard. Wash yourself everyday, otherwise that horrible.

a big deal everyone justs gets on with what ever they are doing.
Not like your the only naked semi naked person in the room.

...people still seem to be *skipping over* the notion that the girls were "crazy" enough to go home and shower there...

I think the pertinent question here is how these sweaty ladies are getting home.
In a car or on a bike - kool and the gang.

Squashed beside me on a train or a bus - eh no thanks.

LOL. Are you a pest controller or work in a sewer or something! Yeah, you can never waste enough water and electricity/gas having showers. Yet another stupid fad we've imported from across the atlantic now we have enough money to pay for it.

Shower 1: First thing I do in the morning. Can't function without it. Feel dirty for the entire day if I don't have it. (Every day).

Shower 2: After the gym. (Most days).

Shower 3: Before I go out. (Once or twice a week).

Doesn't seem that "stupid" to me.

    Seems a bit excessive.
    3 showers in one day.

I'd have to agree with this comment, I don't think they'd be as open as males would be with regards to the whole communal shower situation.
Yeah, that's what I think as well.

How is not wanting to have a shower in a shower that has been used by countless other people considered unhygienic? At least swimming pools are chlorinated to kill bacteria etc

What's wrong with sweat? Its perfectly natural. I accept that body odour as a result of sweat is unappealing, but it is a natural thing that everybody has to deal with - in varying degrees obviously.

As for underarm hair - I don't like it, but again, it normal.

I think we're conditioned to be repelled by these things, not because there is anything wrong with or unhygenic about them, but because they are seen as being imperfections, according to the unattainable standards of hollywood and the fashion industry.

I've heard it siad that having no underarm hair is more hygenic, bacteria have less to hang onto, lice and nits don't have an off-head colony to occupy etc etc. But if a person showers regularly, then these things don't even matter.
If it is so hygenic, why aren't men advised to shave underarm as well?

I'm not saying that those girls shouldn't have showered before going home, but you can't judge the situation based on the facts at hand - they may have lived close by, they may not have had a change of clothes, they may have been conscious of their bodies, they may have been concerned about communal showers etc etc as opposed to being, supposedly, unhygenic.

One thing, if they were conscious of their bodies, then what were they doing in the steam room/sauna???

The only time I ever don't shower after being in the gym, is if I'm cycling, in which case it's a bit pointless as I'll probably sweat while cycling home.

While I can understand how some people prefer to shower at home, I think what's gross is those who work out, sweat like mad, and then get into their car like that. Sweaty seats. And when that dries, it's gonna stink.

    K.
