A lot of you are taking this far too seriously. People who are offended by this are over-sensitive. It's only a bit o' craic. I'm not saying suicide is to be taken lightly, but why wallow in sorrow and scorn? If it were me, I think I'd leap off a tall building. Get that last rush before kicking the bucket. Of course, we're being hypothetical.

Couldn't have said it better. *dips hat

I see that the poll has been localised - "Liffey"
yet there are numerous references to firearms an average person wouldn't have those - this isin't america

I dont think suicice related humour is that bad a thing. But this thread isnt funny, nor does it seem to serve any purpose. OP : should have read the charter for this forum.

I've heard somewhere that most/many people that fall from heights do - so if you are falling try to relax and, chill and land on your left side so your heart is cushioned.

There was an article in the Irish Times many years ago in the times past column that I have not found since. About a century ago a guy decided to top himself by hanging on Sackville Bridge (O'Connell bridge) so ties the rope round his neck and takes a swig of posion and jumps. As he is dangling from the rope he pulls out a gun and shot himself in the head. But he missed and shot the rope and fell into the river. Swallowed some of the Liffey and got vomited. He survived.

No I can't find the article, nor can I remember when it was printed. . . .

I usually support any borderline banage thread, free speech and all that. That and the banned ones are usually the most intersting.

But this is pointless, not very funny. It also makes light of serious topics posted in the PI thread and would undermine its credibility. Sorry.

    Apology accepted and all.

I can see where y'all are coming from but I still think you're taking it too seriously. I'm sorry if I caused any offence but I think it's kind of a mountain of a molehill and all that. I know suicide is a big deal, etc, etc, but it wasn't really about people committing suicide, but how you do it, not why or if.

I would jump off a motorway bridge at oncoming traffic(traffic preferably being a large juggernaugt).

Not nice, what if the the drivers has a heart attack or the truck swerves and kill some innocents ?

Far too many people are killed by selfish suicides. There is a woman in the US up on charges over this - she survived but killed those in the car she rear ended. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3989277.stm

another 6 killed as a result of a possible suidice
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3989277.stm

can't find the link to that French guy who decided to gas himself and changed his mind and went out. A gas explosion in the block of flats killed several people later on because he didn't turn off the gas.

I was thinking heroin too. Might as well try it and go out in peace.

I think pills would be bad, really bad pains and foaming at the mouth and all that.

    Re-read the opening post.

It would have to be in the old suicide bombing technique for me. Popular these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,606 ✭✭✭djmarkus

LOL, but unlike the popular version of doing it in shopping precincts i'd do it in the middle of a field.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,079 ✭✭✭Simi

I'd choose pills. But thats simply because you'd probably never get access to a gun in this country. And you forgot sliting your wrist's in a bathtub.
