Lord Henry Mountcharles is a legend and a decent bloke, but I'm glad he's been stung by this one. He fucked up big time by booking a rap act in the first place, Slane is a rock venue. He's right, a rock band wouldn't cancel due to exhaustion. Remember when U2 played Slane the day after Bono's dad's funeral?

There'll be a lot of unhappy homeboys in West Philadel-Finglas today...

Would now be a good time to have another listen to I-can't-believe-its-not-Pat-Shortt's version of Stan??

Oh great, this "Slane is a rock venue" nonsense again.

Sigh.....Do we have to get into this again ?
He should have booked AC/DC or Aerosmith. He did'nt, he went for the wigger convention. Now hes been burned. Ain't karma a b*tch
Slane IS a world famous rock venue (u2, young, stones, springsteenetc....).

Those are pop acts, not Rap acts (and Mel C & Morcheeba never headlined).

    What's your point ?
    (if there is one),

Mine is that mcd and mountcharles sold out on the rap fad to make a quick scumbag fuelled dollar. Justice has been served. The fact that it p1sses off the scumbag and wigger community is a (fantastic) bonus IMHO.

how did they sell out? by booking one of the most popular acts around to play? isn't that what they've always done ... or do you thing they booked guns n roses for their artistic integrity .. nothing to do with the hard rock fad that was in full swing at the time.

Really glad its cancelled, It will be intresting to see how the refunds go? If you just walk into a ticketmaster shop without your receipt will they have to give your money back? Sounds very doubtful that they will without proof of purchase............

They would have to ask for a ticket barcode number before reimbursing directly to somebody's account, to stop ticket touts from getting extra cash out of it.

And plenty of rock acts have been known to cancel tours, it's not a "rap" thing. Korn pulled out of an ozzfest a few years ago just days before the show, leaving Therapy? to fill in.

The rap fad on the other hand only has two decades behind it.

Anytime I've gone back to get a refund it's always been a case of handing over just the ticket.

All their songs are English, Bill. They are an English band singing all their songs in English. I really hope you get pummulled into a bloody pulp should you stupidly choose to follow through on such an ignorant claim.

Nope I got refunded on a Bob Dylan ticket before when he cancelled his gig, it was automatically back to my credit card without any questions asked. If you sold the ticket on "thats not their problem" i think is their attitude.

Yeah, but that started with good rap music, stuff like Coolio. Rap today is bullshit, the lyrics are utter tripe and the rappers claim to be criminals from the streets when they grew up in a bungalow in the suburbs and never stole so much as a biscuit.

Tbh Slane was fucked the moment they booked eminem to headline. It's a rock concert ffs.

Coolio is an interesting choice as the start of rap music... Showing your age I think. Plenty of good rap music out there, most of the line up at Slane wasn't good rap but that's neither here nor there. My point was that rap is no more a fad than rock is. And believe me rock music has it's ****e too. Plenty of it. And always has.

I was pretty annoyed when I heard the line up to Slane this year, not because of the genre but because of the quality of the artists. That's all that should matter.

crap sells to the mindless mass's
oh well no slane for this year, hopefully the break will lead to some sense and proper acts being announced next year.

I'd usually feel sorry for all the people who bought tickets but since its eminem fans...........i dont :)

Wow, you're knowledge of rap music is really top notch, isn't it? How about next time you type something, try knowing something about the subject.
