    Sunday - Few recovery pints

I'm just worried that I might be an alcoholic or something.

Your normal but the only thing that worries me is i used to know a guy, he was an alcoholic and used to say that about Sunday! :eek

Maybe give your liver one day off!?

Don't get so emotional. The thruth hurts I know but you must remain objective.

I don't drink not because I'm boring but because for the effect alcohol kills brain cells, which would make me both less funny and less social F*UCK THAT.

Errr.. I wasn't emotional at all? No need to act condescending to me, make some friends and you will be able to go out for a few drinks - and maybe score.

I must have a lot of brain cells to burn, since it hasn't affected my memory, sense of humour or social skills. In fact it has probably helped the latter two.

Oooooooooh, I get it. THAT's why I never see drinkers laughing or talking!

Woohoo! About 10 pints last night. They were spread though. 4 after work. Went home and got a burger then a shower. Back out until about 10. Fresh as a daisy but probably stink like a brewery here at work. Anyone else have that problem. I mean even if I have like 4 pints I still reek of it the next day. I once had 2 pints on a wednesday night and my breath smelled of beer the next day. Lovely.

We don't drink because we are more intelligent than the majority and realise that alcohol is a drug that has a sedative effect.
I understand we non drinkers intimidate you because we are strong enough to resist taking the easy paths in life.
You are just pissing your pants with fear.

Was there a study done on pioneers IQ levels?
Do you think the "majority" do not know that alcohol is a drug that has a sedative effect?
Is there any drug you take? caffeine (chocolate, tea, cola), aspirin, paracetomol, nictoine.
If you do take any drugs, then do you consider somebody who abstains from your drug of choice to be more intelligent than yourself?

Are you intimidated by caffeine abstainers, are you pissing your pants with fear unable to resist taking the easy path down the dark road of chocolate digestives, or the dreaded aspirin?

There isn't one good reason to drink alcohol.

........ eh, because it tastes good.... I enjoy a glass of Merlot with a Sunday lunch. Or a glass of light white with cheese ... Have made some lovely sangria in summertime, and there's nothing like home-made mulled wine in Winter.

Then, there's the refreshing taste of cider after a game of golf .. or a Jameson to warm the body from a cold night. A bottle of Miller quenches the thirst after a day at the office ... and a G & T tastes lovely and is the perfect size to drink during a theatre interval.

The above outlines plenty of reasons to drink ... and to love a drink.

I had a pretty heavy night last night. I was at a pub quiz where my team seemed to be making more trips to the bar than any other team, and thus we were easily the loudest when they called our scores. It didn't seem to kill brain cells though; we came second and tus got a free botltle of vino each!

Then I went to Phantasm in the Village. The beers I already had were complimented by about a mouthful of white wine outside, and then I was attacking the pints. Over the night, I probably had about ten pints.

I drink a lot more than I used to, but I'm not overly concerned. I only drink beer, and the occassional glass of wine with dinner (or outside night clubs!). Spirits are the ones to watch out for.

I hardly ever drink, so when I do I'm pissed quickly.
Those of you drinking every night are ****ing insane.

    Also:
To be honest with you all, I never trusted people who don't drink, unless they're recovering alcoholics, only then can I understand why you wouldn't drink.

    You're a dick.

I used to only drink at weekends but recently have started drinking at home during the week. 2-5 cans maybe.

If I go to the pub I usually just end up getting sloshed.

But seriously, all of the people I've ever met who don't drink have been complete oddballs. Either catholic fanatics, loner weirdos etc. The one guy who didn't drink at my last job was a real weirdo, stalking women in the office etc. So based on this I'll say all people who don't drink (in western culture) are weirdos. I love generalising, it really annoys you overly PC boards people :)

Overly PC? Or decent human beings?

    You decide.

I only really drink when I'm out or at a friends house - although that's pretty much 5 nights a week at the moment! Never drink at home, although I can see the attraction of just relaxing in front of the tv with a glass of wine :) I know a couple of non-drinkers, but they're both cool, would love to just once see them drunk though!

As I said in previous post I consume about 30ish pints a week. I am 32 now and have drank this amount for about 13 years. No obvious health or mental side-effects as yet but who knows could suddenly drop dead tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28 odonaghue

Exactly! You could drop dead tommorrow!! So enjoy yourself. I'm a binge drinker myself which is the worst, start with about 8 pints then a bottle of vodka on Friday, usually same on Sat maybe a bit less then be dyin for the rest of the week till Friday comes and do it all over again!! ;)

I've been on a chronic bender since last Thursday. That's due to Oxegen, friends' birthdays and the warm weather (how can one resist a nice cold beer on a sunny afternoon?? You can't! Don't lie to me). It all came to a head last night when I caught myself drinking Absinthe. Or as I like to call it: "Evil inna bottle". I'm having the night off tonight. But I'm having a drunkening on Saturday. Hurrah!

The warm weather always gets me in the mood for a pint. Going to drink loads tonight. Woohoo.

Dude you need Jameson to warm you up!
Beer dehydrates you thats how it works.
I wonder would they taste as good minus the alcohol.

I'm not a drinker myself, I usually get hyper at the end of the night anyway so it's all fun. :p
But I'm goddamn sick of people asking me why I don't drink. There's no reason why, drinkers never have to give a reason so why do non-drinkers?

"Equality is but difference-respected and celebrated." - Strange sig for such a biggoted little twerp.

I'd normally have 2-3 cans once or twice during the week, then Friday and Saturday would be 10+ drinks nights. This week though, I haven't had a drink since last Sunday at Oxegen and tbh I'm staying off the beer for a while until i can get my finances sorted out!

Used to drink like a fish in college, but started drinking less and less over the last couple of years. Never made a consious decision not to drink, and I still enjoy a pint or two when the occasion arises, but i'm not bothered about drinking these days.
