WTF?? Any1 else see the 3 planes and the helicopter flying around town??

Planes scared the crap outta me, sounded like they were going crash into the building!!!

I saw/heard a very low flying plane about an hour ago. for a split second the thought crossed my mind.

they just did it again. Flew directly over my building, 3 of them in formation.
I'm right beside the dail, maybe they are "protecting" it!! God help us!

I'm just wondering... it would be terribly easy to plan and execute a strike on Dublin. A group of 5 or 6 dedicated people could easily come up with an efficient way of levelling OConnell street, destroying Henry street during peak shopping times, or even Grafton street during lunch on a sunning day (ALWAYS packed)

Does anyone know what effective measures are in place to prevent (unlikely...) or minimise damage to the country's capital? Or for that matter, anywhere in the country?

Purely hypothetical situation here, and if mods deem this thread to be poo i'll live with the deletion decision

I think any speculation at this point and time is going to get certain government bodies having a looksee at who you are.

Totally agree. Shouldnt be flying that low and that often around the city if that is the case

Dublin is not well defended at all. We would be at the mercy of a terrorist attack. In fact, it wouldn't be too difficult to wipe out the leading ministers in the governemnt since our Taoiseach doesn't even have decent security around him when he's out and about.

It's tme to have a big rethink on our defence systems.

the IFSC also crossed my mind - as did destroying the walls on either side of the Liffey from Heuston to Custom's House.
Not that that means that I'm thinking about doing it - they're just very possible avenues of attack. Think of the carnage... and think of how our defense system can prevent them.
