didnt even know he was sick, was really shocked when i logged in this morning, thought the thread starter was taking the piss until i read the article. dont know why im so shocked though didnt really like the guy, that aside countdown wont be the same without him, if they continue it

Sad indeed- the man was a legend - I always used to think that he was the model for roger mellie in the viz comic
i wonder who'll replace him,if they keep the show going ?

Sad news indeed. I am not sure I can see the show continuing without him, tbh, he was such an inegral part of it. Where TV is dominated by fame whores, he was a rarity - a man who earned and deserved his fame on merit. RIP.

, when I had C4 I loved to watch Countdown and although the last time I saw it was 4 years ago I still remeber what a great host Whiteley was .
He was on Top Gear about 2 years ago and really showed what a nice person he was .

He'll be missed, although I'm not sure if his jokes will be. A tv icon lost to the ravages of time.

i only saw him on tv a little while back saying that wen he died he'd like to be remembered most as the first face on channel 4.

I know many of us have grown up with Richard being a familiar face on the Television. He'll be missed.

Well fair balls to him at least he got to knob Carol shes hot, a good guy no doubt, and they should never do count down again, he cant be replaced!!!

I'm absolutely shocked and saddened by Richard Whiteley's death. It was only a week ago me and a mate were talking about what a legend he is. A truly great presenter, great personality, some cheesey one liners but a truly great person.
