Our elevated perspective meant we could see greater distances, on two legs we could move faster, communication meant that we could co-ordinate hunting parties, much like a pack of wolves will hunt today. The protein helped to make our brains grow bigger. Why, our closest evolutionary relative, the chimpanzee will happily organise hunting parties to catch small monkeys. Take a look at this article, if you're still not convinced. I don't believe for one second Linoge that if you were handed a .45 automatic with one bullet in the chamber and told you had to shoot either a kitten or a human baby, that you'd take very long to send Tiddles to kittie heaven!

I don't think the 'are human lives worth more than animals?' question can be agreed upon here, we all will have a different opinion, none more right or wrong that each others. Personally, I am of the opinion that human lives are inherently of more worth than animals, and would rather 1,000,000 dogs die than 1 baby. That said, someone earlier mentioned that they considered their life of no more worth than any other random human (very doubtful that when push comes to shove they could walk this walk, though!) - I can come straight out and admit my life is of much greater worth to me than anyone elses, though the lives of my immediate family come close.

Oh, and oh yeah, the individual that is accused of those horrific crimes, if found guilty deserves the severest of punishments/

Im talking about the fact thats its only a dog. A four legged animal. I cant believe theres a whole thread about how thats terrible yet not about the fact he molested/raped not one but two girls. For that he should burn.

Not true. What some peoples opinions are and what is actually the case are completely different. The facts remain, no country in the world gives the same rights to animals as they do humans. Animals are not self aware (except for dolphins, which is very debatable), thats what seperates us, thats why humans are more important.

Anywho, as Linoge said, you can argue all you want about which species is more "important", the fact remains that every nation on this planet places grater value on a human life. Normally i respect people's opinions on things, but this is clearly a case where the issue is black and white The question of which life is more important is a rhetorical one. Dont try to argue otherwise.

OK, the guy messed up, but come on. I'm sure everyone else here has made some mistakes in the past. This kid obviously has some deep isssues and his needs would be better served through rehabilitation than incarceration where he would be subjected to depraved assaults due to the nature of his crime.
As to the caninine issue, Sure the family are now down a dog but pets are relatively inexpensive, and this could be a good opportunity for the kids to try out a different one. I can't believe some of you are getting so worked up over some a mere animal, ffs, get some perspective.

heres the perspective , most people love their pets like a member of their family , this guy raped their dog and two very young children and the best rehab for him is death before he violates other people!

A dog has a personality and feelings too. Dogs can feel love, pain, stress, anger, etc just like humans. Think of how scared and upset that dog must have been. And then it died afterwards because of the pain and stress it suffered.
