i met a girl at a wedding on saturday called "Blaithin de Paor" - yes, her parents called her "FLOWER POWER" how cool is that?

incidentally, my own name is stephen greene, which was a bit of an obstacle when i used to be approached by members of the garda siochana who wanted to question me about the legitimacy, tax and insurance status of my hotdog stand on the corner of the park of the same name.... i never used to carry ID either lol....

    Sucky and Lucky - Chinese

poor old chinese guys are always given more "pronouncable" names by the companies they work for here, a mate of mine works in a warehouse & there are 2 chinese guys called "beano" & "dandy"

btw Ross Castle sounds like a lovely little town in wexford with a big chemical plant on the outskirts :D

Some friends of mine have a boy they named Naoise. That was the first time I'd ever heard the name but it's getting quite popular now like Oisín and all the other Irish names.

As for the OP, he's lucky the girls didn't have names like Alexis Crystal or Chardonnay as you can imagine the kind of knacks they would be.

    What's in a name anyway?

I'm not going to try the "perfectly normal name" line but the Mercedes in Mercedes-Benz is in fact named after Mercedes Jellinek, daughter of Emil Jellinek. In other words, the car is named after a chick, not necessarily the other way around (and originally certainly not the other way around). Not the most common name around but I can think of four or five actresses with the name, usually with parents or grandparents from Cuba.

There wasn't a Chardonnay in Dynasty as well as the other two, was there? A Chardonnay in Falcon Crest, now that would have been funny.

what a charater you have ??? think over it selfrespect is a big thing

I would like to nominate this for post of the month.

I would like to nominate it, because it's the most poorly spelled, badly punctuated, off topic piece of bollocks I've seen all day, reeking of adolescent aggression and bisected by - always an indication of the mind of a wankwit - three question marks.

This post is a classic representation of the dross peppering boards.ie these days - some pimply nerd taking time out from cradling his downy balls for just long enough to type a reply to something that's apparently offended him, but unfortunately he's just too stupid to articulate his point properly, and anyway, he can only spare one hand (which may be the reason behind the lack of capital letters).

I mean, who's this addressed to? Who has a character? And of what kind? And who needs to think something over, what is it they need to think over, and why do they need to think over it? Because self respect is a big thing? Who was displaying a lack of self respect? Is this person offended because the original poster managed to score three nights running? Do he think that, to achieve such a high batting average, you need to have no respect for yourself? Is he jealous? Or is he in fact a she, and called Majella, and has only now found out about Behein and Jordana (Jesus talk about 'oops we wanted a boy')?

Are these the outpourings of a furiously scorned woman, too busy - twisting an oily rag into a milk bottle filled with petrol, intent on revenge - to try posting in full and coherent sentences?

Pig-hooey like this takes up valuable storage space on the servers that host boards.ie. It should all be moved to a single hard drive, and the server should be periodically dismantled and used to make some of these, which can then be sold to raise money to fund boards.ie.

You think I'm getting a lot of mileage out of 13 words (14 if you use the spacebar as God intended it)? You should see my sock drawer.

None of you will be able to beat this.

In Tallaght, circa 1999, a young teenage girl gave birth to a baby girl.

She decided to call her....wait for it...

    ...Pocahontas.

I remember that Pocahontas Disney film was big that year, so that was maybe the reason why.

    Anyways, her surname was Murphy.

I used to know a girl called síofra (little elf) - I thought it was really nice! Really like the name Naoise, but defo meant to be a boys name. (Naoise the brave warrior in Clann Uisnigh etc.)

I used to go to school with a girl called Beibhin (with a sister called Caoimhe).

I also used to go out with a girl called Naoise. I quite liked the name, pity the girl was a schizo.
