Spent the night in a fairly bling hotel in Tullamore about 6 months ago for a work thing.. Wasn't sure if it was 4 star but I suppose it could be the one alright..

I'm a man, She was right to moan about it.
if i'd gotten that reaction for doing that she'd never be going anywhere with me again and me and a mate would be getting very pissed in tullamore. actually come to think of it she'd never get anything off me again, not even bus fare. i'm glad my gf is appreciative.

I live in Tullamore and tbh it is a bit of a **** hole but i've lived here most of my life so i'm bound to say that. Is it the bridge house hotel? If so that's a great hotel, really is top notch.

    http://www.bridgehouse.com/index.html

Your a couple anyway, i'm sure ye can find plenty of things to keep you busy. If your going out i'd recomend pubs - de bruns, #1. Restaurants; Chinese - paddy field, Italian - mezzo or senior rico's, Thai - Shishir. If your looking for a proper restaurant the Anatolia is nice, the #1 restaurant isn't bad either but can be noisy at night as it's above the pub.

I asked a babe one time did she wanna make out after chatting for like 2 hrs and i got me drink all over me ! Women tell them they look handsome even when they look like a truck, and well

That was a really sweet thing to do, I would be chuffed if my boyfriend did that for me.

I'm sure (well I hope) she'll apologise later for her initial reaction, which was pretty b1tchy and ungrateful I have to say!! But she probably just heard 'Tullamore' and thought WTF did he book there for when he could have booked anywhere in the country!!

Anyway, once she thinks about it (ie. you, her, luxury hotel room etc etc) she'll be thanking her lucky stars.

If not, get rid. I would jump at the chance to go anywhere any time with boyf for a break. It's not like she has to take time off work or anything. Maybe she had something else planned for that weekend?

    Hey,
Tell her to pull her head in. Alright Tullamore is not the most happening spot on the planet but there are plenty of good pubs and restaurants there. And if you are staying at either the Bridge House or the Tullamore Court...tell her to bring a cossie....as have a nice relaxing swim...They both have fairly good leisure facilities.
And I think the name of the club you are thinking of is No.1's
    Enjoy

This is dumping territory for me. Not due to the one specific incident, but I wouldn't put up with someone flying off the handling over such an issue.

Forget the joking, do actually go and find someone who really would appreciate it, because that girl sure as hell doesn't.

Maybe she has been dropping hints for the last year about somewhere she would love to go / do for a weekend, and she just flipped out when you did book a weekend away but got it arse ways?

I know that is no excuse for her reaction, but it might explain the situation.

I was thinking that too. Perhaps she was thinking, "5 years! I can't wait until he swoops me away to New York or Paris!" And then she hear Tullamore. Anyway, that's beside the point. She's still a self-involved ****.

LOL. Ya gotta laugh at some of the advice handed out around here sometimes.
Guy going out with a girl for "5" years, has an argument with her, and is immediately told to dump her.

That sounds like a riot, going all the way to some other place just to drink in a different pub :p

Despite that though, she sounds ungrateful and most likely regrets having a go at you. Tell her it upset you and she was way too harsh and see what she says. She shouldn't have reacted the way she did.

If this girl is the type of person who flies into a rage at being told she's being taken to a hotel for a weekend break as a surprise 5 year anniversary present, then she is most certainly the kind of person I don't want to be going out with.

    I stand by my comment.

So if you were going out with a girl for 5 years and she done that you'd dump her no questions?

I can bet you any amount of money that the OP isn't telling us the full story.

As BaZ says we're probably not getting the full story (do you ever, from only one person?). It's possible she was having a bad day, or there were previous issues in the relationship. I wouldn't dump someone after five years, over one day or one arguement.

Exactly. As a wise man once said, "When it comes to relationships there's always 3 sides to every story, His, Hers and the Truth!!"

Hmmm, thinking about it, if it was the first time anything like that had happened I probably wouldn't dump her without question. I might cancel the booking, and have a chat with her. Depending on how that went I'd give her a chance not to such a rude and ungrateful person in future.

What surprises me is that people accept this kind of behaviour from their partners without question. If you accept rudeness and moodiness then you only encourage that person to continue to act in that way.

I agree totally. I'm always saying this to mates in similar circumstances. It's like banging your head against a wall and then complaining about having a headache.

I know what I would do, I would bring one of my mates, go down on the piss for the weekend. So ungrateful.

True, true. You have to put the clamp down on any instances of rudeness. Women can be moody sometimes, in fact a lot of the time, maybe put it down to having an off day, and hopefully she will apologise when she's in better in form.

I guess we all have bad days, in fairness, if you don't notice a pattern of ungratefulness then it's probably nothing to worry about too much, rather a faux pas on her part.

Aha funny you say that my dear man,
We are just back from a weeks holiday in new york and we were feeling a little depressed being back in this ****ehole of a country, so i booked the break so we could have something to look forward to.

And thats pretty much the full story..

By the way she did say sorry to me last night, looks like she realised it was a god thing eventually..

Ah you'll have a great time. Two 23 year olds enjoying the best of what Offaly has to offer.

The Great Telescope (apparently it's great!)

Belvedere House, Gardens and Park (for those long romantic walks)

And if you're not already exhausted by then, there's always......

    Clara Bog

Who needs New York, Paris or London when you've got Offaly?!?!
