Which ones have you got? (Yes this is a normal topic). Do you think they are worth it? I've got fake ones like most people. I've got two "Livestrong" ones and a black and a white one (they're attached) that say "Speak Up, Stand Up" on them.

I have one with "Cliché" on it.

i know they seem to be the current fashion trend but the real reason for them is for charity and with the fake ones, the money is going straight into the pockets of nasty traders. There are plenty of websites out there that still have the authentic bands, like the Livestrong ones. Buying the fake bands is a disgrace, thats not the point of the bands. Its about the charities!

You don't know? Sometimes I worry the people on these boards don't get out enough. Except me. =P

whats so great about these bands? personnally i think their a stupid fad. if people really care about the charities why dont they just make a normal donation?

Just making sure but, don't fake bands defeat the whole purpose of the things?

How much do the fake ones cost? The real ones are only a dollar each, who's too cheap to pay a dollar? Its not like there's a backlog, like there used to be.

The self obsessed "me" generation not only wants to give a few measly €£$ to charity, but they want everyone to know they've given to charity by sporting a piece of rubberised plastic. Or even worse they want to give some blag artist the money instead and still look as if they're charitable...

I couldn't help but notice that none of those bracelets were in any way endorsed by anybody. You would be better off writing something on your arm and donating to some random charity.Or even just giving the equivalent money to some homeless guy.

Well the livestrong ones give money to cancer research.
The stop bullying ones and anti racism ones are pointless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,958 ✭✭✭✭RuggieBear

i have the lance armstrong band too...and also a marie keating band. Saw the fake "charity" bands in a toyshop the other day and despaired.

If you are going to buy them, at least buy the ones that benefit the ****ing charities.

i'm surprised someone hasn't made one that has every colour and has imprinted "i'm following a fad."

i'd buy one of them lol.

some of my mates wear them and one of them bought a livestrong one of a guy in his class. i had a look at the wrapper that it came in and it said "$1". HE PAID 5 EUROS.
he just said they look cool and everyone is wearing one.
