I read somewhere recently (possible on boards somewhere) that Jamster were being investigated by Regtel as a lot of complaints had been received from people who had unsubscribed from the service but were still receiving messages and being charged for them.

Hopefully they are being investigated for this fraudulent practice and hopefully they'll be severely punished.

I'm no fan of ringtone companies, or the people who support them by buying from them in the first place, but a lot of people seem to be getting conned by them.

I hate all those ringtone companies too!
I cannot believe that tingtones and the like are still so exspensive, this has been going on for years now. You would have thaught that the prices would have come down..

Anyone who is dumb enough to send a "txt" to these mobile content companies deserves to be ripped off for their stupidity. Who gives a crap what your ringtone is? use your mobile to make phonecalls - not a fashion accessory. Get a life.

*giggles* the bastards charged me for a ringtone I never got. Rang up and complained. Got a full refund. Now all I get is retarded messages about going to there site but I didnt think I was getting charged for them :O

OK well I noticed I was getting charged and got double texts each month from them, got O2 to unsubscribe me and I asked Jamster to compensate me or ill report them.. here is how it went:

    Me:
    Hello,

Once again, I have to re-send you an email because the mail form on your website was simply pointless as it just sends out an auto responder. My mobile is +353 86 xxxxxxx (Irish) and is a Nokia model.

As outlined previously, I have been having some difficulties with Jamster's Services for quite some time now. My first issue was a good few months back when I ordered a ring tone on-line which came and never worked, and I got billed. I called your support team as the Jamster Customer Service phone number was available on your site at the time, but not any more, who tried sending the ring tone several times (wasting my money as I was getting billed for it not working) and eventually had to send me out the money I was billed for in the post (€10).

Since that time, I have been receiving two text messages a month (or there about) from Jamster. Little was I aware that I was getting billed for these texts that I had never subscribed to or was never made aware at any stage I was being charged until today when I noticed on checking my bill Jamster had charged me for each text (I am on a pay-as-you-go phone on the O2 Network) since being subscribed.

After failing to get the telephone number for support on your website, and your web form being a complete failure and waste of space, I had to call O2 Customer Service who where aware of the matter and informed me many people had complained of Jamster subscribing them to there newsletter and billing them. O2 provided me with contact numbers - and on using these I was told by your automated machine to hold the line before eventually being told to email as no service rep. was available. I re-rang O2 who where able to unsubscribed me from your service themselves (they knew how, so did it for me) and was told to take up the getting billed by Jamster, with yourselves.

Since you have compensated me before, I would hope not to have any difficulties with getting compensated for the money I lost for the texts which I did not request. If on failing to get compensated, I have prepared a letter for the appropriate authorities to take the matter further.

    I await your immediate response.

    Regards,
    Kevin O'Sullivan

I know this might sound strange, but maybe you could use this as a lazy mans savings club. Subscribe to their service, let it take a load of money, before requesting a refund. No need to go a bank to lodge money every week!

on the phone to meteor 1905 now about this
i didnt think theyd be working this late

Apparently some git has signed me up with two of these scamming showers of bastards. I've certainly never put my number on any websites, ive had the same poxy ringtone for more than 5 years and if i changed it i probably wouldnt know it was my phone when it rang.
They Meteor guy told me to phone:
ph.0818242311 for the ones coming from 57757 and
ph.01 2186831 for the ones coming from 53503 and tell them to stop sending me sh!te messages. Presumably these numbers only work during office hours.

I doubt they have got much money out of me as there is rarely any credit on my phone but seeing as im going to have to call them from a payphone during the hours in which i normally sleep i think i will spend my small change berating them and telling them what a pack of dirty sh!tsucking leeches they are.

Why don't you email them? From what other users are saying, their phone number never works and you only get through (after much waiting it seems) to a pre-recorded message saying you should email them.

I'm sure some of the above wont mind giving the email addy

i have no idea, you should check the add out, or the website, or just complain to the regulator as other people have said.

I did the same thing with Ringtone King and they kept sending me msgsand emails sayin the stuff wasthere and takin 4 yoyo off me 4 bout 2 times a month. i jus kept sending the stop tone thing till it stopped. but each company has a different stop code so 'stop' might now work! ;)

    Get a life.
Coming from someone with a username such as yours, that is truly rich.

I've never fallen in the Jamster trap. Rip the CD. Lower the quality. Cut the bit you want. Bluetooth (or host it for download). Sorted.

INTERESTING... Jamster is not here: http://www.odtr.ie/numbering/num_sms_search.asp

Any chance of getting the number you sent the code to get the ringtone?
