    Being overly-self consious.
    I hate that
Me: "So, what shall we do? We could do W, X, Y or Z."

    Him: "I don't mind."
    See above :)

The most major turnoffs in a guy are:

    - Being unwashed or smelly in any fashion. It's just so disgusting!
    - Reeking of Lynx... to answer the_syco's question, it's ok to use Lynx, just not to douse yourself in it like a skanger. If I can smell you from more than a metre away, that's BAD
    - Going on about ex-girlfriends, either in a good or a bad way
    - Being cocky. Believe it or not, you are NOT the most amazing person in the universe, I don't care what you say
    - Calling people by their surnames. Nrrrrggghhh.... I think it's because it makes me think of jocks
    - Giving one-word answers. I know you may be nervous on a first date, but it really is unacceptable, and it's probably the reason why many girls talk and talk and talk about nothing - it's to fill up the silence
    - Indecisiveness, as said in the last few posts. makes me want to bludgeon you to death with your own severed leg
    - Being overly gropey. Gropeyness is fine if the girl actually WANTS to be groped - read the subtle signs! (then again, men are very unsubtle creatures). Attempted groping when it's not wanted is AWFUL
    - Going on about how drunk you were on any occassion. I mean, grow up
    - Smoking. Yuk. I don't mind the actual smoking part or the smell of fresh smoke, it's the smell of STALE smoke that clings to your clothes and your breath that's nasty
    - Really bad fashion no-no's. I don't care much about fashion usually, but some things (such as backwards caps/anything lycra) should be avoided at all costs if you ever want to get anywhere
    - Annoying honky/snorty laughs
    - Beard stubble. Either grow a beard or shave properly, that in-between stage just gives girls rashes when you try to kiss them
    - Chewing gum, especially if it's with your mouth open
    - Talking about sport (although that may just be me)
    - Having too much gel/wax in your hair. Yuk
    - Shaved heads. I'd even go so far as to say very short hair is out as well
    - Messy eaters. If there's food on your face or all over the table, it's not a good sign
    - Food stuck in your teeth

That's all I can think of right now. I may be back though. Ooh this is fun!

    • someone who does not like animals
    • a smoker
    • a heavy drinker
    • someone who is thoughtless
    • someone who is cruel

Hey look, someone actually did a proper list.

As for the non matching undies thing, who the **** cares!

    Really!?

None of the girls I know say that. They all seem to hate beards, not mind clean shaven, but really like a bit of stubble.

    Anyone else able to corroborate?

Oh ps: You very quickly stop getting rashes as your skin adapts. Or so ex-gfs have told me

Well yeah, but then again I was writing about what I personally find a turn-off. Many of my friends like the whole beardy/stubbly thing, but I don't! I also dislike body hair, but that's just a personal preference - many girls really like it

stubble on a guy looks sexy, but it can grate a little during lovin'
    ;)

Stubble is nice to look at but not nice to kiss, it tears your face off! And your skin does NOT adapt as I've been going out with my bf for a year now and I still get stubble rash from him. I much prefer it when he's clean shaven.

It's possible other girls skins have adapted but i have kinda sensitive skin.

Get him to grow a full beard. No more rash. You can also grab it and lead him about with it.

Hmmmm what are my turn offs.

I just saw this in the home page and thought ooooohhh i can write on that. :-)

    (1) being mean ( i.e kicking of puppy dogs or ickle kittens) or just being mean to me. The ol treat them mean to keep them kean won't work with me.

    (2) Not having sense of humour. I like funny things. If you can't laugh than i'll pretty much show you the door.

    (3) Cheating on someone. That's such a major turn off.

    (4) Smoking....i hate it.....:-)

That's pretty much it. To be honest I'd put up with alot of stuff if the guys cute, has nice hair/eyes/smile and is funny and good to talk to.

So bring on the stubble :-p

    Lack of conversation.
    Introvert.
    Shy.
    Prissy.
"Ladies" (as in women who believe they are some sort of queen - get over yourself).

I don't know what's wrong with me then.

    I like ditziness, it's fun
I think SOCIAL smoking is kinda sexy (coming from a social smoker)
Stubble is totally hot (yes, I'm bi)

    I don't like:
    - Bad hygine
    - People unaware of their voice volume
    - People who think they know the words to a song, but don't
    - Tone-deaf people
    - People that send out no signals whatsoever/don't pick up on yours etc.

Stubble is nice to look at but not nice to kiss, it tears your face off!
    And not just your face!!
Far more sensitive portions do not want sandpapering, either!.

I think anything that turns me off has been mentioned already. The only other thing I can think of is girls who are prudish.
I've no time for prudes whatsoever (girls or guys).
Granted, there's a time and place for certain conversations (ie don't talk about bumsex when you're meeting the parents for the first time), but if you're in the pub having a laugh,, then you should be able to talk about anything without being greeted with a look of horror!

    K.

Well, while I was perusing my ol dolls rubbsih Cosmo mags, apparently a bit of stubble is rather nice down south.

beides, if the girl was that turned off by the stubble, he wouldnt be down there in the first place, now would he?? :p;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,523 ✭✭✭ApeXaviour

Not necessarily.. as stated women do make concessions (for a cute face) and from what I've seen are more flexible in their pet hates than lads. Though they also have way more.. so I guess it evens out

Shaved heads. I'd even go so far as to say very short hair is out as well

Fishie: Whats wrong with shaved heads ?

I dunno, women will put up with more in my opinion. Fer gods sake we have people here saying that non matching uderwear is a turn off - which I don't get at all, by the way.
What man, when he gets to theunderwear stage is likeley to say
"Fidelma!!! A white bra and blue knickers? BLUE?
Get out of my sight you slattern!! Have you no shame? Put on your clothes at once and never darken my door again."
    :D

    hates:

    cruelty
    meanness (both senses)
    lack of intelligence

    pet hates

    fake tan
    lack of fitness

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

Poor dress sense would be a big one for me also, also girls who think they have to be at the cutting edge of fashion at all times, but just end up looking ridiculous in the process.

Also, girls who feel they have to be at the centre of attention (actually this applies to both men and women though). The one who has to be the loudest, interesting and worldly wise of the party. They can fcuk right off.

It's not something we won't put up with, just the female equivalent of turning up in skid-marked white y-fronts. Smacks of someone who couldn't be arsed making an effort tbh.

    Thats sounds pathetic IMO
A lot of bras are not available with matching underwear. In fact I'd say I have about twice as much underwear as I have bras.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 25,000 ✭✭✭✭Sleepy

So, just buy the matching stuff then. Or if it's a matter of needing more underwear than bras, buy two pairs of the underwear when buying the set. Seems quite simple to me...

It's not something that's gonna put you off a woman entirely, it's just far more classy when a woman does it. If women want to be treated like a lady, they should act and dress like one ;)

I like hair that's long enough for me to run my hands through. It's a personal preference

How come you're all so fussy about matching underwear? I have this really cool pink bra but no knickers to go with it, because it wasn't part of a set. I'd still wear nice knickers with it though. Is that a bad thing? (not that I really mind either way since I don't intend to sleep with any of you, but I'm just curious)

    yes, but remember....

you are single. and there is a reason for it.

Yeah, my standards are high. Don't see the point in being in a relationship just for the sake of it tbh.

Another thing more of a pet hate really I suppose

I hate it though when girls get all dressed up to sit on the couch and watch a movie, as in put on full make up incase anyone happens to come by.

Its nice to see a meet a girl who just relax's and says funk it
"why would I go to all that bother to put my face on, cus im just staying to relax and chill out"

Or even just minimal make up like that lip gloss sparkle stuff that tastes really nice, that of course is welcome anywhere and time :)
