Cake's the worst of them. There's no scientific basis for it, but it's fact.

    The threat is real

    Noel Edmonds;
it stimulates the part of the brain called Shatner's Basoon

    Bernard Manning;
the poor b@stard coughed up his own sternum

    David Arness MP;
cake is a bisturbile, cralabolic, amphetemoid which is a made up substance

other names for cake include; "Loonytoad quack," "Joss Ackland's Spunky Backpack," "Ponce on the heath," "Rustledust," and "Hattie Jacques Pretentious Cheese Wog."

Indeed. Don't forget that this very important issue was raised in the UK Parliament by a Conservative MP back in 1997.

As for the car crash, if
Seb walks away from that without serious, serious, serious injury, it will be nothing short of a miracle. And unless I turned away for a few crucial seconds, at what point exactly did Duncan manage to get out?!?!

Ooh, excellent. Trip down memory lane. Ah Will Smith, he was a ride. And Bobby, I used to love her when I was about 5, was so gutted when she died. Bobby and Tim, remember they used to sing the opening song together :) And Shane & Angel with their pet pig. Pity Greg isn't there.

Ah, Home & Away, such a funny soap. Just an observation some of you have probably noticed too. Many a time we see the ladies wearing bikini tops or swimwear etc, yet we never actually see them sunbathing or actually ever going near the water. Very weird.

Anywho pretty dodgy storyline with Duncan on drugs, might as well of had him as a solvent fiend. Rather boring really.

My favourite storyline, from the classic 90's era has to be about Sol. Not entirely sure whether that was the father or son, but anyways do you guys remeber the father was the leader of some weird cult, B4 being shot by the hot cop, i believe. D'ya member, the really hot cop who hooked up with Gypysy Nash's older brother.

Speaking of the Nash's, Mrs Nash was one really hot M**F , mmmm... Antoinette Byron.

Anyone else think they have a rather hot bunch of older ladies. Irene, Angie Russell, Shelley Sutherland, to name a few.

Oh yeah & Kate Richie, what a lovely pair of ...... eyes.
Thankfully got to see her MOVIE. Not the greatest quality, and dont know whether it is her or not, but a great tape nonetheless.

Anyways, an Xcellent soap, 100 times better than our Fair
    City ;)

Some porn flick she seems to have done, far as I can tell.

Ashamed to admit I had a quick search for it, but found naught.
I did end up finding Abi Tittmuss's home movie with John Leslie,
but it couldn't compare to Sally's romp, surely...!

Yeah Sol was the father. Joey was one of his many sons. Selina was the one who got taken in by them. Gypsy's older brother was Tom, who ****ed off without leaving any means of contact after their mother left them, thus leaving Gypsy and their father on their own, tool.

Yes but duncan can't really be blamed for his horrible turn out. It was awful what happened to him in the hospital... Remember back in the day, I guess he was supposed to be about nine and then he fell down a big hole and was taken to hospital and when he came out he was twelve (they changed the actor to current duncan, maybe they killed the old one by throwing it down the hole) and all ready for Summer Bay High.
Although.... he was a little b*stard before that... like when he told his Ma Angel had hit him, and when he told the Jesse Spawn Rachel (shortie) her parents were dead....My God pity they weren't.

Current H n A's a bit weird. Kirsty went out with Nick, then when it went sour Jade went out with Nick, then Nick is in a wheelchair for a while, Kirsty went out with Seb, then Jade went out with Seb, Now Seb's in a wheelchair ....Hmmmmmmm.... Original storyline please?
And Wthf is with Kane, suddenly he's danni and Jade's big protector and blah blah blah blah and I wanna know (and I know it has been this way for a while!) how danni and haley suddenly becae the best of friends... they used to hate each other over the whole brodie/mitch thing, hmmm, Mitch, he was a bit of an early Seb I think. Ah Brodie! God she didn't have much luck with cars....!
And oh look at matilda hunter, It's generic new girl number 54. "Oooh I hate Summer Bay so I'm gonna stick my nose in the air and be a right self absorbed b*tch til I'm about 15 and ten I'll be a saint....for a bit" just like Gypsy, Dani, Haley, uber-b*tch Kirsty, Kit etc. I'd love to see her get a good hard smack or a public humiliation.. Along with Kirsty... I hate Kirsty... and now there's two of her.
Do they just use the same plots over or something? Although I do like Robbie, Tasha, Kim and Max at the Mo, they're weird and but different than the usual characters which is a relief!
The besr ever storyline was the bush fire... I had nightmares for ages it was so cool, real edge of your seat stuff! And remember Sam...he was a disaster who left in shame and then came back on drugs....the original duncan even.
Maybe all the new druggy stories comin in will make it nice and fun again!

Have 2 agree with you there Nasty Girl, how many runaway kids or new kids can this show have.

Cant believe they R just getting Christie Hayes 2 play 2 characters. C'mon people get another actress. R u that stuck 4 money.

OMG the most annoying character has to be Max. How many times has he endangered the Sutherlands, or got them in trouble. The book scam with Colleen, almost getting killed by messing around in the Drop in Centre, (not sure but i think he started the fire didn't he ) & worst of all getting his Uncle & 2 cousins trapped in some mine that he made a shrine 2 his dead GF. Talk about Dennis The Menace or What.

BTW what was with his girlfriend dying & then he suppossedly talking 2 her. That crossed the line, me thinks. Talk about traumatic Xperiences, he will be one messed up kid when he grows up.

Love Isabel Lucas, what a babe, athough really funny yet stupid, how she lures Robbie into a net in the BUSH, and then what happens, She FLIPPIN just leaves him there. O.K. i guess her beauty makes up 4 it.

Speaking of Isabel/Tasha, makes me think of (Angie)Laurie Foel, mmmm one hot lady. Although who else knew she'd be Tasha's mother. Sorry H & A, but similar to Principal Wood's mother being killed by SPIKE, on Buffy the plot was way, way Predictable.

Ur right though Nasty Girl, the whole Nick/Jade/Seb/Kirsty thing is weird & kind of icky. Similar to Joey & Rachel on Friends. Sorry all U Joey/Rachel fans but that was just creepy & hadn't a leg 2 stand on BTW. Joey suddenly develops feelings after 7 years, WHAT ?????????.

Anywho still love the show though, if it is getting a little like Sunset Beach.

And those are the reasons I love Max!!
I think the funniest thing about Jade and Kirsty not being twins is that Jade could've been spared life as a horrible sutherland. What must her biological parents think of the mess that's been made of their kid... and if I was Laura I'd be running a mile, just like what Lisa said about homer's long lost bro in the Simpsons... her life was unbrideled success til she found out she was a sutherland.

I love the fact that he turned up yesterday at Danni's house, all Mr Protector ("I thought someone might be sneaking around..."). But, wait, hang on... Isn't this the guy who was CONVICTED of raping Danni only a few years ago? And the guy she could never forgive? And the guy who she couldn't believe her sister had fallen in love with etc. etc.

But, no, in true Bay fashion, all is fine now, and because he helped find her father/sisters when they were trapped in the mine or somesuch, all that nasty assault business is now completely forgiven and forgotten. Huh?!

Summer Bay has too much of a habit of redeeming those who should be irredeemable! It's like your life's slate is literally wiped clean the minute you enter its borders like some kind of geographic confession!

On a separate note, it's particularly dumb of producers to have this new twin girl played by the same actress. That will never work production-wise longer term, so now they'll have to find a way to write them both out of the show... Good planning...

And that's why I have a fond place in my heart for Tracy - she was an evil bitch and she STAYED an evil bitch. She was not changed, or altered, or made good. Duncan should also stay as an irredeemable little turd.

I guess the ethos of the Summer bay school of love is expressed in the lyrics - "let me the one that you turn to, someone you can rely on, closer each day.. home and away". It's all about banding together and uniting - go the power of love! We need some really divas in this that everyone depsises and who never reform... can we get the Melrose Place writers in? Hey even someone like Julie Cooper from "The O.C." would work...

Speaking of the lyrics... Now that I think about it, I always assumed the mawkish litty ditty was about Tom and Pippa, back at the start and how their
love fostered (pardon the pun) the goodwill to open their homes to not one, but five troubled children. Seeing as how that Caravan Park now has the human turnover of a medium-sized multinational, I would say their love has done enough and should now retire.

Now that would be worth watching... Angie came close to Julie Coop. Now I see Morag back, they've even bloody softened HER up, and she's Australia's Anne Robinson!!! The once hard-nosed bitch even did a monologue yesterday about how she failed with Duncan! And this from the woman who once rearranged all the furniture in her mansion so her blind butler would fall about!

I'm tempted to ask my US cousins but, I'm not sure what the case is with yours, but mine have a limit on how much they'll tape for me. They're taping quite a lot lately, including entire seasons of old shows, so they may be about to run out of tape if I ask them to. Particularly since 'Arrested Development' Season 2 is starting on Sunday - have you been watching that doh.ie? I've already got the season boxed set and am highly impressed.

Ah. I see your dilemma. I found that if I paid my cousins a bit more to make them limitless in their kindness towards me, they are more obliging. Know what you mean about old shows, too - I had them do all of Prey, VR.5, The Wire and Without A Trace, just to have for a rainy day.

But the OC is a must - you'll have to sacrifice something else! Did you see the preview for season 2? Sandy: "He just wants some space..." Kirstin: "The Pacific Ocean's not enough space? Bring him home, Sandy."

Arrested Development is my favourite comedy - - even more so than Scrubs, which was formerly number 1. I'm a little concerned it's not taking off here as well as it should (no thanks to TV3 throwing it around the schedule when it started and BBC2 relegating it to late night sometimes!) Can't wait for the new season - bit late this year, must have been baseball or NFL or something. In any case, that's only about 170 mega-cousins if they have HDTV in their house.

And you won't have to worry about 24 from January, cos I reckon Sky, RTE and Fox will be as little as a week apart before long (no breaks are planned). You may still need Alias, though - also in Jan - cos I doubt Bravo will start very quickly.

Unrelated note, have your cousins been doing Lost for you? That is my favourite new show this year, alongside Jack & Bobby.

Of course, none of this relates to Home & Away, so to get back on topic to the irredeemable characters... has anyone noticed how Donald Fisher was only ever credited on the opening titles as "Fisher" for ALL the time he was on those credits. They just couldn't let Flathead have a normal name, presumably for all his wrong-doings while principal. (Incidentally, this new guy is a clone of Don's early days... more recycling...)

Ah right, I can't afford to be that generous to my cousins. They've only got 16 gigatapes to use each month for me. In between recording a few shows a week, they've taped other shows for me recently - S:AAB, Twin Peaks: S2, Jeremiah: S2, and Batman:TAS - S1. Very nice of them I think. Ahh the prospect of Sandy and Seth screentime is enticing - they've got wonderful chemistry don't they? Just imagine the witty banter. I'm curious to see if Adam Brody gets more screentime this year - from everything I've read, and talking to people in general, he's overwhelmingly the most popular character by a loooooonnnggg way. I'd marry him if I could but the Republicans won't let me....

Yeah this is a must have. Since "Dead Like Me" finished last week, my cousins are free to tape it on Sunday nights. Have you looked into buying the DVD of Season One? It's only about 23 quid and nearly all the episodes come with deleted/extended scenes - most of which are just as funny as the main show and help wrap up little points. Good value as far as I'm concerned. I'll also agree it beats 'Scrubs' now because it avoids some of the tacky sentimentality that 'Scrubs' can get bogged down in as it eschews comedy in favor of "life lessons". Scrubs is something I'm waiting on rather than asking my cousins to get it.

Alias I'll be getting taped. '24' I may wait for reasons as you say. Despite enjoying the final third of the season, I feel I can wait this time. One of the problems previous times was spoilers on the web but, given the show has lost its popularity, I feel safer this time around. That, plus the big cast changes, have me waiting.
Unrelated note, have your cousins been doing Lost for you? That is my favourite new show this year, alongside Jack & Bobby.
I'm loving 'Lost'! My cousins delivered 1x07 to me yesterday evening but I was out so I haven't got around to watching it. I can't believe how quickly I've grown emotionally involved with the characters - some great acting and good pacing here. Even more pleasing is that it's doing astoundingly well - 1x07 had the highest episode ratings since the pilot.

Speaking of high-rating debut shows... how is 'Desperate Housewives'? I haven't been taping it because, not knowing how good it is, I feel I can wait for the RTE2/E4 showings.

God... i had totally forgotten about that happening. If i remember just after that some guy came to stay in the house to write a book about Morag or something and he got a crush on Bobbie.. it then turned out that he wanted to kill Morag cos she had sent his father to prison and he had committed suicide.

And remember when Chloe was getting stalked and she found out that it was her boyfriend when they were all alone in a house in the middle of nowhere.

S:AAB - I'm reliably informed that this will be out on DVD soon - only reason I didn't get that one. Plus you gotta hate the length of time it takes tapes with lengths of about 8gt to cross the Atlantic...

Witty banter's what makes it not Home & Away. Sandy is the perfect dad, eyebrows excepted.

Maybe the Governator will allow it. He didn't agree with the Republicans on stem cells either. Overall, this year, I'm looking for less pouting, more acting from Ryan and Marissa, more Summer in Wonder Woman costumes, the return of Anna (prob won't happen), and no more sightings ever again of "I'm pregnant, but no, don't give up your life, it's fine, I'll get by" Teresa.

Have them all from cousins last year, and have been trying to cut down on rebuying what I already have, but if there's decent extended scenes/wrap up points, it might be worth it. I'm tired of deleted scenes which add absolutely nothing and you can plainly see why they were chopped, though there were some decent ones on Everwood and Dead Like Me's first season, IIRC.

Your cousins do sound overworked. If Scrubs did the 'life lessons' thing more rarely, they might actually have more impact.

One of the problems previous times was spoilers on the web but, given the show has lost its popularity, I feel safer this time around. That, plus the big cast changes, have me waiting.

May get the first, and see what the gap is like between broadcasters after that, but it won't be very big. Didn't enjoy s3 as much as 1 or 2, by the way. Felt it kind of got lost after the first 8 eps. It focused all on Kyle Singer and Salazar and then suddenly Jack, Gael and Tony were working on something else all along?!?!?

Speaking of gaps, I see The OC is actually coming to E4 in January:

Still can't resist, but it's a much smaller gap than last time. I expect TG4 may even get the march on them and have it in December.

I'm loving 'Lost'! My cousins delivered 1x07 to me yesterday evening but I was out so I haven't got around to watching it.

Phew. Same here. Was about to avert eyes for fear of some spoiler...

I can't believe how quickly I've grown emotionally involved with the characters - some great acting and good pacing here. Even more pleasing is that it's doing astoundingly well - 1x07 had the highest episode ratings since the pilot.

I didn't enjoy 1x06 as much as the previous batch, but the Korean couple are more interesting now. My favourite yet has been 1x04, "Walkabout" - I did *not* see that coming. That plus
the freaky guy/father who appeared on the beach in 1x04/05, though I would have kept that going and not revealed so much so quick.

Same with me on the characters - it is *incredible* how much you feel you know these people. I think it's a clever move not using proper opening credits - the fact these are actors almost gets washed away. Am glad Jack hasn't developed into the 'I know everything'-type leader he was in great danger of becoming from the pilot.

My favourite aspect - and I've seen other non-US dramas do this very well in the past - is the idea of focusing on one main character whose story to flash back to. I was hoping that was how it would go when I saw the idea of flashing back to different perspectives of the crash in the pilot.

Learning something new about everyone each week, while also concentrating on how their island lives are playing out, makes this unmissable for me. I'm always dying to see the next one, and it has been quite a while since TV has been that addictive.

Speaking of high-rating debut shows... how is 'Desperate Housewives'? I haven't been taping it because, not knowing how good it is, I feel I can wait for the RTE2/E4 showings.

I liked the pilot a lot; have others taped, I haven't got around to them yet.
But I do like it premise-wise - just got swamped with all the other new shows, so it got put on the 'rainy day' shelf. Am a big Marcia Cross fan (from her time on Everwood, not as psycho Kimberly!)

As for other enjoyable, but not as highly rated shows, I quite like Life As We Know It for simply being a different take on teen drama, little more real, and Jack & Bobby for being damn well written, even if it's going to wind up being too smart for the WB audience and either altered greatly or just dumped.

Once again, no Home & Away connection, but can anyone remember what Sally's invisible friend was called...? Prize to first person who gets it.*

And this from the woman who once rearranged all the furniture in her mansion so her blind butler would fall about!

God... i had totally forgotten about that happening.

Ah yes Chloe, how beautiful was she !!!!!, ahhhh the memories

Whatever became of her? You'd think her star quality would have meant Hollywood movies, American TV (look at half of the rest of them; Carly's husband in Profiler/Nip Tuck, Angel in Alias and even Vinnie wound up this summer on Summerland), panto in the UK or even a pop career!

But we never heard from her again.

Chloe was on that 7up or Diet coke, (or some sorta drink), tv advertisement where there are couples sitting in the terrace outside a cafe, they throw glasses of coffee or something in the other persons face/lap.
Sam (from Home and Away too) was also in this ad.

Angie Russell was the sexy substitute teacher, from Reese Sutherlands past, who came 2 town with Reese's suppossed son Dylan.
She left a trail of destruction behind her, including seducing Nick Smith & eventually driving him mad B4 she was eventually murdered by her own son Dylan.

Turns out now, as you probably know already she is Taha's mother.

Oooooooooooh ok!! I'm getting confused I think - was there some mentalist oul'wan one time who'd killed a bunch of peeps in the past??

There was the original principal who became the Sumemr Bay Nutter - Carly and Bobby crashed a truck into him and he suffered some kind of brain damage and went a bit insane. But I don't think he killed anyone, more spooked the town, so he can't be who you're thinking of...
