His official site is saying that he has cancelled his 11 remaining festival dates as he has been advised to do so by his doctor.
Great. This was the only reason I was going:( :(

I'd say (oooh - look, we've the same icon thingy!) that they'll nearly have to offer some class of a refund. While tickets weren't sold as 'David Bowie Live', he was the main draw, and no amount of 'the promoter reserves the right to change the line-up' clauses should allow that

Yeah that sunday was so top heavy.Bowie was basically the only reason most of my mates were going. The organizers have a week and a half to find a replacement. It will not do this year to just shove someone up from one of the other stages.

I doubt there'll be any refunds - so does anybody know if The Shins are any good?

Maybe they might get somebody decent to headline Sunday and I might stay after all. In this day Bowie as a headliner - joke

I'm pretty disappointed about this myself. Hopefully there will be a decent replacement.

I seriously doubt it at this late stage, the gig is ten days away and all the big acts are probably long booked up for Summer. Most likely Muse will headline - although i've a feeling they won't be coming either, Dom must be absolutely devastated about what happened on Sunday :(

I think the Shins are great; Oh Inverted World is one of my favourite albums.

How dare you Sir! Bowie is a LEGEND! He's still putting out great records and he sells out every gig he plays.

i just think Bowie is a good act but as a headliner no way in my opinion

What, you think Muse and/or The Darkness should have headlined? No way! In fact, if they'd been offered they'd probably have refused. He's the biggest act at the festival, that's why he's headlining.

I would not pay to see the darkness i think they are sh1t and Muse are good but I agree with you they are certainly not headliners

Then WHAT do you count as a headliner. Seems Bowie doesn't cut the mustard for you, and you're not a big fan of The Darkness or Muse.

The normal job of the "headliner" (with the possible exception of Radiohead) is to basically trot out as last act of the evening, blast out their greatest hits, let the crowd sing along, get happy and then bog off home. It's not rocket science.

So - let's apply this to bowie

Greatest hits available - Check. Bucketloads
    Sing-along factor - Oh Aye
Crowd get happy - Mais Certainment.

He may not be to your taste - and that's fine. But he is a good headliner, and with 10 days to go, MCD will be hard pushed find a replacement

ur entitled to your opinion, but the reality is bowie is huge.
Slane would have been better for him

Bowie is the very definition of headline material. Decades of hits, top quality new material, massive personality... I'm glad I got a chance to see him in the Point, otherwise i'd be a lot more annoyed about this.

The organisers will have to offer refunds for those holding Sunday tickets, it's only fair. It's concievable that they could just push The Darkness up the bill, maybe move Muse into The Darkness's old slot, or maybe even just before Ash. Still a fairly solid set of acts for the main stage, but nothing like having Bowie play.

    Ah crap. The Sunday curse.

They should try and book Placebo but I have a feeling Stereophonics will be shoved in. I'd say Morrissey will replace Bowie at T in the Park.

A friend of mine works for the Belfast Telegraph and she just rang the promoters and they said they haven't been told he's cancelled, that he's just cancelled Italian gigs.

    FINGERS CROSSED!

On Entertainment.ie they have removed him from the lineup on Sunday ...

Hmmm...NME says that they're all kaput. Even Ireland/UK ones

    FECK!

Bowie was one of the main reasons I was going too :(

this really is terrible for the organisers and us....
i mean a lot of people would have bought tickets on the strength of Bowie and I really think some sort of refund should be offered. People should have the option of full refund I think, even if some sort of replacement is located.

Personally it doesnt bother me all too much, but it is a HUGE blow for the festival.

Does anyone think a good replacement will be found....

Does anyone else think the Oxegen website is BRUTAL...?

Apart from being slow at times due to a heavy user load, and apart from not being updated quite often enough, - no, I think it's a pretty good site.

Of course they'll say that, they probably put it in fine print somewhere on the website!! They won't offcially announce it i'd say until they have there backup plan in place. The Darkness aren't big enough to headline. I can see a sh1tty rejig if the lineup, add in the some irish band or something. Maybe Badly Drawn Boy can be added? He filled in for Jet at Glasto.
