In general, there are few good comedians. There are much less comediennes than comedians ergo it seems like there's no such thing.

Granted I had to think for a minute before responding to this but Ellen Degenres is a decent stand up act, Whoopi Goldberg used to be fantastic (interesting fact: she introduced Billy Connolly in the states), Deirdre O' Kane has her moments but in general is just below par...

It must be said though: Jo Brand is NOT funny. Never was, never will be!

Wanda Sykes is pretty funny...no period humor or complaining about her mother.

you can watch little bits of her act here: comedy central

I'm hearing a lot about this Avatar thieving lark. I didn't realize there was etiquette concerning this. My apologies! (by the by, an avatar is the little pic I take it?)

I find that in general, most comedians these days are only funny in small doses.
Mr. William Connolly being the one exception.

Smack the Pony's alright, although probably wrong category.

Comediennes tend to be cheaps laughs, show me the female Bill Hicks and I will eat my hat.

After watching that episode of Just for Laughs with the wimmin I think I laughed only once or twice and that was the black women during the interview with Ed Byrne. She was funny but her stage act was ****e.

Her beautiful visage was the only thing that made that rubbish bearable. Deirdre, if you're reading - get in touch.

I would rather saw my own arm off than listen to a long drawn out tale from Victoria Wood, God I'm so annoyed right now even thinking about her, she is an imposter, just like Whoopi.

I hate them I hate them all, except blonde girl from Alan Partridge(behind desk in travel tavern) and Hippies. She is quite funny and a bit sexy, mmmm.

well I have to say good stand up comics of either sex are pretty rare these days. Even Billy Connolly's jokes are becoming stale to me now, I always hear the same ones over and over, and hear people telling me how hilarious he is all the time but it's getting a bit tired. No one has mentioned Eddie Izzard - He's almost a woman :) and he's incredibly funny! He takes a unique angle towards comedy too, nothing quite like him out there.

I cant beleive someone like Eddie Izzard I cant stand him/her. your opinion though but i never heard him it (eddie) say anything slightly funny.

Try getting yourself a copy of Dress(ed?) to Kill from his show in San Francisco - funny.

topic - no they're not funny, any of them sadly and it would be nice if they were good but they're just downright awful and if I hear another one talk about periods/marriage/single life again I'm bound to lose clumps of hair
