i think the fact that thew US gov released those images of Saddam being medically examined and publically demeaned and humiliated and that these images were broadcast by every news media distributers brought "the west" down to his level.

it is a very sad day when the "civilised" victor use these dehumanising propaganda tactics and completely (in my eyes at least) destroy the humanity and human dignity of the man and there by totally diminnishing the moral high ground on which the once stood.

they went into iraq to restore human rights...then they attack the very rights they claim to be trying to up hold

i'm not saying he shouldnt be punished but i am saying that abusing human rights like this (also see the 9/11 + afganistan prisoners in guantanamo bay) makes me dispare.

Not the case, I thougt they made the big reason for going into Iraq the "Weapons of mass destruction" and the "immediate threat" he was to the stability of the Gulf reason. They were the Reasons the US gave to the UN were they not?

We have still yet to see ANY Weapons of Mass destruction after [insert number of months of American Occupation] and 3 months or so of UN inspectors. And also i can tell you at first hand that the Gulf region is more unstable now then it was 18 months ago.

If we are going to bring in Human Rights into things the US really should be looked at. Guantanamo Bay is the best example of the US having one law and another law for the rest of the world. It is a disgrace that they are allowed to keep POW's as they do like that. Imagine if the Taleban in Afganistan were doing to US soilders what the US are doing to them. There would be an outcry.

Remember, the US dont recognise the International Criminal court :)

maybe he is LIITLE IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE.I say bush is just as bad as him he has gone to iraq on false pretences and destroyed a country for his own ****ing economic reasons.

Tell me why has the un not brought up the point of still no WMD'S being found ?

Yes, lets remember how much the American economy had hit a low. As always for the American economy way does help it. Remember the US Army budget is over that of the next five combined. Thats quite a lot of freekin' money. [cant remember exact sum]. The Iraq war was used in part to cover up a lot of the economic problem at home for the US. A dip in shares and bad economic conditions can always be overshadowed by a military gain with the kind of propaganda that is used on American Television [watch American television and analyse it, all you see is legal propaganda. Saw some on sattelite last time i was in the Gulf].

Also, it is a real pity the UN arnt more strict with the US. They seem to nearly condone what they are doing. The UN never gave full backing to this war, they wanted more searches. Also, remember when the US made their case for war to the UN and they had a picture of a Atriculated lorry and give a description and details of "how" it could be a "mobile chemical warfare factory". They have found [i think] only one of these and that had been deserted since the first Gulf War.

Saddam can and should be held for Human Rights abuses, but i do believe he should be brought to the internation criminal court [like the Serbian leader dude being tried now]. Thing is though, the US are not going to hand him over to the International Criminal Court as they do NOT recognise it. Maybe he will be tied to the inside of a plane where he cannot move and be flown to Guantanamo Bay where he will be put infront of a US Army court and given a "fair" trial like the Afgan soilders. Remember, the majority of the Afgan soilders had nothing to do with Sept. 11, they just ran a country that Ozzie Bin Laden hid in. And who funded the Taleban and Ozzie bin laden? Lets not forget that the US provided arms and support [money too] to Bin Laden and the Taleban to fight off the Soviets.

World acts in a funny way...

I seriously don't know how they will be able to keep him alive without the constant threat of him being broken out of jail by a big group of crazy muslim dudes...

Is it just me or did he look a lot like that old hippy from India who somebody thought was Lord Lucan a while back? Is Lucan's DNA on file? Has he been ruled out of the identification possibilities?

I think we should be told.
