Christ! Not content with releasing dire albums they have to turn into Bon frickin' Jovi now! Playing the same venues year after year! And still pulling a crowd! And €60 a ticket? Is Lars still try to recoup his losses from downloads?

Because I live right next door to the same venue they're playing in again, and I'd rather not have to listen to them. IMO they haven't written a good song in years, and playing good oldies at gigs doesn't warrant a near 70€ price tag. Plus I can find much better things to listen to than hearing frantic tic tic tic tic tic echoing in thru my window. </rant>

Ah give the guys credit. they should have a new album out by then so who knows what to expect? I heard originally that plans were to have a follow up to st. anger done by summer 04

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,365 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

According to Encyclopedia Metallica, they're heading back into the studio in a year. And they'll be releasing the Presidio tracks,

If they're planning to have it out summer 2004, I hope they're hitting the studio soon. I just prefer a bit of time spent on getting a great sound, to the purposeful sloppyness.
But, yeah I'll probably be going. I went to the one in August, but I'd like to go again, this time going to the pub before hand instead of queueing early to get a pit band.

Just heard a rumour that this gig is to be recorded for DVD. Anyone else hear this?

Yeah im sure Lars has hired Linkin park to fran tic tic ticly write the new metallica album, so as to have it out in time for thier next sell out tour. Emphasis on Sell out

Ah Metallica. Again. Now I'm not going to stop hearing about them for the next six months. And I thought St. Anger had run it's course.

    I@m there already :D
Up the front and in the f*cking pit this time. Last git was the first in 10 years that I've not been in the pit. I was not best pleased to see a half-empty pit with a bunch of 6 year olds + parents in it.....

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,554 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

heh, the average height in the pit was disgraceful last time.. i felt like a giant, and I'm not tall!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,272 ✭✭✭✭Atomic Pineapple

definatly goin! ok last few albums have been too main stream, st anger being particularly bad, but the gig in the rds this year was fúckin class! definatly be there, not gonna hold out too much for a good new album though.

wanna be better support next year

I hate the way people criticise the new Metallica stuff so much. The next album could blow everyone away, whether it is released next year or in 10 years.

I think Noel Gallagher said it best when speaking of Oasis. He said that they could never get back to the days of writing stuff like they had on Definitely Maybe and Whats the Story Morning glory (when they peaked!) because you can't write about being on the dole and then going home in a limo to your mansion.

In Metallica's case they wrote about things that affected them then. They're no longer 4 unknowns but multi-millionaires. Perhaps as a result they've lost that great touch they once had but don't write them off yet.

As valid as your point about who they were/are is, people are entitled to criticise their music if they wish.
If it is not pleasing to the ear (as it is not) you should have the right to say so, whether you think they will redeem themselves in the future is irrelevant is it not? As it stands they have released nothign but tripe in recent years. I for one was saying that after Load came out the'd redeem themselves... How wrong was I?

If the next album is class I'm sure even the nu-Metal(lica) haters will admit to it. Provided they enjoy listening to it. The reason people bítch about the new stuff is its not enjoyable to listen to, in the opinions of many. Yet many 14 year olds believe differently.

    :D
