Had a hail shower coming out of my Lc exam and a good rumble of thunder

I remember Sryan saying something similar about his exams a few years ago and we were all dumbfounded with his knowledge for such tender years. Best of luck with the rest of your exams. Take a break at the weekend and head to a warm ,sunny Clones.

Huge local showers of rain and hail from towering Cumulus congestus today in Kerry, Fair bit of thunderstorm activity in the Eastern half of the country and numerous reports of hail. Afternoon improved to sunny spells but many sprinkles of rain , had to duck and dive out of the rain into shops around town.

Moisture rich warm tongue of Theta E in the form of an occluded front along/ off the SE early tomorrow morning looks unstable. Low and Deep layer shear aid the instability. Could see thunderstorms mainly over the sea heading towards Wales and further up the Irish sea heading into the midlands. Will see if a few clip the SE but might stay out over the water.

Later Thurs afternoon parts of the midlands /E and NE could get a few thunderstorms along an active unstable Cold /occluded front, Low and Deep layer shear very strong, surface temp up to 20C with very high DP's of 18C or so along with converging winds might give most active areas in parts of N Leinster / Ulster.

Been under a tornado watch for much of the day in Chicago. Rained a lot but it’s seemed to peter out now and all the warnings have moved further south! Can’t even get my hopes up in tornado alley haha

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,635 ✭✭✭Dazler97

Are you living over there or just on holiday ? Ye the closest thing to a tornado was a funnel cloud in Carrick in summer 2022 I think it was small skinny thing but there was visible rotation but died away soon after

Just here for work. Be home by the weekend. Didn’t even get any lightning, just a complete washout and when I felt it starting to get chilly I knew chances of something fun were gone.

Aw that's a shame maybe another time you will get a chance to see some decent thunderstorms and a tornado 🌪️

I wonder why it is that they always get thunderstorms in the low countries?

Monsoon rain in Kildare atm. Water pooling everywhere

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 85 ✭✭leprechauntimmer123

Strongly sheared showers today, no chance of lightning but hoping to get the occasional grungy structure on these onesmmoving towards Dublin next few hours today. Warm mid levels preventing lightning and higher instability.
