I think its a good ad, love the nostalgia of the plastic clip on for the phone especially that only dad's had.

Good ad. This is my dead phone drawer no.1. There's another drawer no.2 for the more recent decades, but they're all boring flat smart phones.

ok i loved the 25 years of Vodafone at first (and what a tune!) - but now they are flogging it nearly every advert slot I am done with it now and its becoming irritating

my old phone drawer used to contain the Motorola Startac flip phone, the Nokia 3380 (or whatever it was , the popular one with snake on it) , a VF180 flip phone, the Philips Savvy, Sagem VS3 (loved that flip phone), and some alcatel's

I just think as the oldest network they should have celebrated their 40th a few years back.

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

I'll scream if I have to hear the Heineken punchline ,'Fans have more Friends' once more. I'm like Quickdraw McGraw with the remote mute at match ad breaks. They really don't want you enjoying the WC at home with a few cheap cans, or tea and toast even. People have to work the next day, its not so all consuming, that you need a batch of fake 'friends' for 90 minutes. I Think the ads shebeen is probably illegal too, it has two draft taps inside, and afaik you still need a licence to dispense it free, even miniscule alcohol stuff. Otherwise there would be taps in McDonald's.

Fans have more friends is also jarring to my ear. What?

Dear good that Vodafone ad with the old bag singing Colad-lee-Lee to the brat gets old seriously fast. If they were honest and made it sound like the usual shite quality you’d expect from a video call you’d say something but this sounds like it’s recorded in Dolby Atmos in studio conditions. Feck away off.

Dear Visa, if you are going to use a "famous" actor to be the face of Visa during the world cup ad breaks, would you not maybe spend a little bit extra to find a "famous" actor most people might have heard of?

And on that, wtf are Visa advertising in the first place?

There are some absolutely atrocious phones in that drawer with the exception of the 3310 (or is it the 3330?)

I'll have a look. My little museum. The oldest phone is in the back of another drawer somewhere, first mobile in the house, it was Dennis O'Brien's first ready to go model, bought for herself at Xmas. I think it was a Panasonic, £99, little sticky up antenna moulding on the top, gave it a kind if star wars look. She adored it. I didn't go mobile myself till the next xmas, Vodafone had a great RTG offer. The 3310 was mine, the other small black Nokia with the sliding key pad, and the Sony next to it. The lower flip top Sony was her next upgrade, she really loved that phone. The sagem was one of the teenagers junk. Teenagers! All in their 40s now.

I haven't seen the ad but I think it's Jason Sudeikis. He's only in the ad because he's in Ted Lasso, I presume.

I had to google him and had never heard of him or seen him (and im quite good at recognising people).

On a slightly related note, I've noticed the TV producers (probably American) on the World Cup coverage are doing that most irritatingly American thing (although Wimbleton regularly do it too) of diverting from the action on the pitch to pick out (mostly American) celebrities in the audience. Most of the time I don't have a clue who they are, but the producers obviously think they are sufficiently famous enough for a global audience for them to linger on them for an extended period.

I have noticed that, although so far, the only ones ive recognised were Mike Myers and Rod Stewart.

Speaking of the World Cup, David Beckham and Thierry Henry are making some serious money. They are in ads for McDonalds and Walkers crisps.

I still have a grudge against Henry, so the ads dont encourage me to buy either product.

I do like the Walkers ad though 😏

    Speakeasy.

Always thought the Pay As You Go brands from Eircell and Esat were great marketing for both companies.

I think both Vodafone and O2 retained them for some time before ditching them.

I was sure that Vodafone would use Ready To Go across their English speaking territories.
