At least you were not in the car at the time. Metal can be repaired.

Potentially the wrong thread so apologies in advance! I have a set of 3W door sill protectors for the Model 3 Highland that I have no use for if anyone's interested.
Box is completely unopened, still wrapped in plastic - never fitted. These retail at €130 on the 3W site (5-piece set, covers all four doors plus boot sill).
I'm based in Naas, with collection preferred. €50 ono

Eh? His car was scraped by a tiny FIAT.

And apart from that, last time Mercs were tough was about 30 years ago 😂

NHTSA data: Tesla robotaxis have had zero at fault incidents since February. And the only crashes they were involved in were human drivers rear ending them 🙂

In other news the cybercab got its EPA cert, which shows the specs. FWD 😯, 47.6kWh battery for 293 miles (471km), 219BHP, 1412kg curb weight, very low energy density battery, so LiFePO4 - designed for a million miles I guess?

Picked it up wrong, I assumed it was the Merc that hit his car. Merc’s were definitely tougher 30 years ago but so were most German/Swedish cars of that era.

Yeah the Merc hit the Fiat and sent it into me. Completely wrote off the Fiat. All airbags off and barely a straight panel left on it!!

I was rear ended on the M50 in my model 3 and the panel damage wrote the car off - as you say it suited better for me too at the time.

40,000 Dutch drivers now using FSD. 24 million kilometres driven and no incidents.

    That's impressive .

Is that paid for subs or does that include the free 1 month trial that every HW4 owner gets? I suspect the latter. So the figure is meaningless tbh 😅

The zero crashes is about 50% higher than when I mentioned it last, indeed pretty impressive. It is very careful though. Far more careful than most humans. The one criticism I hear from owners most is that it is very relaxing, but too slow.

I'm not sure was just in an article that quoted the RDW. But you'd have to assume if the first month is a free trial it's the majority.

Will be interesting to see how many keep it at 99 a month.

Does FSD in the approving EU countries include the different speed profiles such as Sloth/Chill/Hurry etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,082 ✭✭✭beardo81

How is FSD with speed ramps/bumps does anyone know? Autosteer Beta doesn't slow down for or acknowledge them at all. They're really badly marked in Ireland too, worn road markings and poor signage make it difficult for a driver a lot of the time (I find)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,119 ✭✭✭JOL1

Existing Autosteer can only be active at speeds above 30km per hour. Am not sure there would be many speedramps where it is safe t be exceeding 30km. Reports online suggest that FSD does handle speed bumps well, with reports that it has become much better and speeds reduced by the car but I am guessing that it would need visual markings to detect.

Existing AP / EAP / FSD can not be compared at all with FSD supervised beta in any way. It is an ancient stack of software from many years ago. It is better than most of the competition but that doesn't say a lot 😂

@MojoMaker - only 1 speed setting for FSD supervised in the EU so far, no mad max mode and the like

Ah that's a shame, I guess the default will be more towards Sloth/Chill than Standard or Hurry?

Driving Miss Daisy is the most accurate. But with superhuman senses and reaction times.

It really was made for safety first, everything else second

It sounds less appealing now to be honest, but I will take the free trial when it lands here and make my mind up then.

Are you sure on the 30km, could have sworn I've used it on open roads and let it get me through stop/start traffic in towns/villages I'd be passing through

You'd have a set speed of 30 or higher, but it will slow down below 30 if there is a car in front and it actually manages to keep up reasonably well with start stop traffic. It might also slam on the slows if it perceives an object that might get in your path - like a car coming the other way that nudges over the centreline (overtakes a parked car, etc). But it probably wouldn't see a reason to slow down for a speed ramp it doesn't detect, unless you're following after a car that does so.

Spain reported to approve FSD supervised on 30th June. Would be #6. Where is Ireland? Surely we won't be last again?

I can understand that many on this forum will be enthusiastic but general public may be cautious. The Dept of Transport is working on a national strategy for autonomous driving (not just for Tesla) and a draft is expected after summer break. It’s only a few weeks since Dutch authorised so for me patience is a more realistic approach. I would be surprised if it happens before the draft of the National Strategy is available given timescale and the bigger picture. We are far from last (6 out of 26 so far in EU). Patience is a virtue

There's a national strategy for autonomous driving in the works?

    Really? This is indeed news.

Tell that to apple or Microsoft.

Mobileye are working on a self driving solution at the moment as are the US and Chinese manufacturers. Tesla might come to market first in the west but there is no guarantee they will hold the market.

I look forward to self-Diving especially as my Colleague was off work to accompany his mother to doctor where she was diagnosed with glaucoma yesterday. I see savings on car interior which will offset the cost of sensor and compute. The features like speed which Tesla use as selling points will fade when cars drive themselves. It is a new world but Tesla may end up being only a footnote in the story.

You could replace “Tesla” with another manufacture there and you could still be correct. Tesla are not the only ones that advertise the performance of their models.

Am I misunderstanding something here? I have often engaged AP when stopped in traffic for it to just take off when the car in front moves forward. I have also engaged it on a campus with 20km/h speed limit and it works just fine there too.

It sucks for speed bumps for sure. Doesn't see them and I do have to disengage every time.
