Admitting he was wrong is not something I would expect Keane to come out and say tbh. He rarely backs down, even when wrong. We all know that at this stage.

From the short clip I watched, all he said was that "we had a chat". Not sure if he expanded on that?

I would guess that while Roy knew he got the actual quote Wrong, I'm sure he still believed that his overall thinking was Right… and I think his overall thought was that United should be more about winning as a team than any individual accolades.

My young lad was obsessed with Bruno getting his assists on the run in. While it was great to see him so excited, it isn't the United I grew up it, the United Keane played for. Being obsessed and celebrating an individual award like that is, as Roy would put it, nonsense to a large degree. But my young lad hasn't seen a dominant United and I didn't act like Keane, I got behind his excitement.

It was great for Bruno, but hopefully a few team trophies follow on the back of it.

Tldr: I'm sure Keane thinks he was right in where he was coming from despite misquoting Bruno.

𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐌𝐄𝐃: Barcelona has ENDED their interest in Marcus Rashford and sent him BACK to United after refusing to pay £26m for him.

Barca had told United they were only willing to pay £13M which the Premier League club would NOT accept.#MUFC [

I get that, it can be very important position.

I should have mentioned it, but my thinking was more focused on wages than fees. It looks like we'll be going cheap which is good but we know Ineos are big on wages / wage structure.

I just can't see them taking on the likes of a Johnstone (his wages wouldn't be a problem) without being sure they've gotten the problem of Onana's ridiculous wages and Bayindir's wages off the books.

If it can be wrapped up quickly, it would be great to get a better 2nd keeper than Bayindir. I just think it's something that could drag on all summer.

Finishing as high as possible in the league was the main season goal this season and from January it was the ONLY goal.

We did that and in the mix of that one of our players set a PL record. There's no shame in the players and fans taking enjoyment from that. Sure the club SHOULD be challenging for trophies but 12 months ago we were 15th and losing a final to spurs. There is progress there.

The club needs to kick on this summer. Everyone knows that.

Keane being moody and looking down on people for enjoying a positive end to a season that looked like it could go the wrong direction is the nonsense here.

They've know Bayindir and Onana are not good enough, for at least 9 months.

Needing to do a lot of stuff this summer on top of replacing them with at least 1 backup keeper can't be an excuse for not doing it. We should have been planning and preparing a plan for this, for 9 months. We should have our targets, we should have spoken to their agents, we should be ready to make a move for a keeper as soon as we get movement on Bayindir and Onana out the door.

We were also (along with winning stuff) desperate for RVN to break the consecutive games scored in record, and for VDS to break the record for time without conceding a goal. Both individual elements.

Make a move on a new second choice before movement on Bayindir and Onana imo. I think if you wait for movement on both before looking at a new keeper someone will stick around this season hoping they'll get their chance as second choice to Lammens.

I can't see there being any bomb squad this summer with lads being told stay away from training. I can see Onana being happy to stick around for a season of CL wages if no keeper is signed and Vitek is sold/loaned.

They can jog on to be honest. Paying what they paid for Gordon and then not wanting to stump up the £26m for Rashford!

There should be a bit of interest in Rashford after last season so hopefully some decent teams come in for him and he has a brilliant world cup too. I think he will be sold this summer.

Both Villa and Newcastle will be interested in him. Will they spend £25m on him? Who knows but we all know his wages will be the stumbling block to any possible deal for him.

    Good riddance

You would imagine there will be plenty takers for Bayindir in Turkey but Onana could be hard to shift with the wages. Probably another loan.

The main thing with another number 2 is to not get too fancy, someone steady who will catch crosses and not implode if asked to play 3 or 4 games. We don't need to be taking any punts on the latest GK come Libero from Portugal.

Sam Johnstone sounds ideal, I read up on him, he's played 4 times for England and yet to concede a goal, like that sounds like exactly what we want. Knows the club too, knows the atmosphere and the pressure. Ideal.

I'd take £12m from either of them just to spite Barca and their bad faith transfer tactics!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,094 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

I think Darlow could be a decent option too and unlike Johnstone he's out of contract so no club to deal with. First choice keeper for Wales too. Started 22 games in the PL for Leeds last season playing the second half of the season as first choice.

1000%. Said myself if Barca come back in for him after the June 15th deadline the price goes up. You had your chance to sign him cheap and it passed. But I'd sell cheap to someone else as a **** you to Barca.

€30M for Rashford even if you see him as a squad player is a good deal.

€30m is the cut price amount for Rashford

Whatever has happened, he is an England international who is capable of scoring 15+ goals in the PL.
How many of those are there?

His wages can be subsidised by a signing on fee at his new club and he moves to a lower per week amount.
So he and another club can absolutely make this work.

It's a great deal for Newcastle / Spurs level clubs if he's willing to step down.
They've spent a lot more on a lesser players.

I don't think he'll go to another EPL club. Bayern are still interested and he had already agreed to reduce his wages for Barcelona. I reckon he'll go with a club that will win trophies now that he has a taste for it. If he has a decent WC - and if the friendly V New Zealand is anything to go by he will, he'll have plenty of interested parties no doubt.

Also, nice to see Sancho gone. Now let us never speak of him again.

Rashford's wages would be a big stumbling block even if United wanted to bring him back into the fold. It'd be a fairly easy thing to do if he was on half what he's on.

It's mad that it's easier from a PR point of view to loan him out and pay half his wages than keep him and pay it all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,788 ✭✭✭IncognitoMan

Arsenal maybe? They aren't blessed on the left and a good world cup might make them move for it.
Bayern seem to have an interest as well as you said.

Then the likes of Newcastle / Spurs will always be interested.

    He'll have options for sure

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,829 ✭✭✭scottser

Much as I'm loathe to admit it, Arsenal would probably be a good fit for Rashford too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,094 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

I would hate to see Rashford at Arsenal. Sickens me to see them winning things but to then see them win something with Rashford contributing, **** that 😂

Though is Arteta gonna put up with had half ass efforts at closing down his man.

Knowing what we know about Rashford and about Arteta, I don't at all know why people think Arteta would ever want Rashford.

I said from the very start that Barca wouldn't keep Rashford so there is no shock there. Hopefully he plays and does well in the world cup and generates some interest.

We are about to find out who Rashford is though, because we all know that it is the wages that is chilling interest from anybody who might take a chance on him. So, does he want the money or does he want to play football.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,829 ✭✭✭scottser

He's already seriously wealthy at 28. He's just won a title and has maybe 2 or 3 years left to win another. Realistically this will be his last big move and chance to win titles and as I said above, he has already told Barca he would lower his wage demands. I know he has his detractors, but I don't believe he's that much of a twat to scupper his chances that much for a wage that deep down he knows he's not worth. Besides, if he has any pride at all, he would tell Barca to get to **** and be a bit motivated to show what he's made of elsewhere. We'll see, but I think he'll see sense.

He has earned great money but how many of the family is he bankrolling or by how much?

City have apparently made a huge bid for Anderson so at least that transfer will be put to bed and we can move on.

if anyone still had hope, you may forget it.

As expected, Manchester City sent new bid for Elliot Anderson for £106m guaranteed fee plus £15m add-ons.

Nottingham Forest want £120m+ fixed to sell the midfielder as also aware of Man United interest.
#MCFC pushing to get in done + Sandro Tonali also on shortlist.
