There's a ship due into Dublin tomorrow.

Have a look at the Tesla motor club website for some other info.

Got my trade in offer. Not even 100e less then initial one. 6830e + 2k trade in bonus for 2015 Golf. Happy enough with that, best offer I got privately was 8k.

If you decide to sell, send me a PM and I might be able to beat Tesla on their pricing.

Just curious why would be trading in at all? Are you looking to go bigger and trade in for Model Y?

I doubt it, that doesn't include the Tesla trade in €3.5k as I ordered before end of March. Only thinking of changing due to back issues

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,467 ✭✭✭stesaurus

Behind a Model 3 earlier and there was a noticeable hole underneath the back bumper/rear diffuser area. It was a 252 so less than a year old. There seemed to be some liquid/moisture escaping from the hole. Any idea what could have been leaking from that area? I'm thinking most likely AC moisture. Presume there would be all sorts of warnings for the guy if it was anything battery related.

I managed to changed my order to the standard RWD and thought I would be waiting until August or September but there must have been a cancellation as I'm now due to take delivery on 8th June.

That’s good news and we’re getting ours on the 8th. Well wear.

When did you place your original order? I ordered a rwd on the 27th of April being promised a June delivery but so far my app is saying Aug Sep delivery.

how many sales are Tesla missing by being hard to get? I dont understand them not having enough cars, especially the basic model/colour

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,316 ✭✭✭madcabbage

Had an order for the RWD since May 5th. App had me down for Aug - Sept for estimated delivery, which has since disappeared during the week. :(

they have a tendency to disappear when ships are incoming, the VIN is the important piece as that ties in your car/grant

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,082 ✭✭✭beardo81

Got my VIN yesterday and arranged collection for next Wednesday in Baldonnell , that was the earliest date available. Trade in (older NCTd car in bad nick) added on app and getting assessed still.

Finance is approved too (PCP) So I've a few questions for the experts here please!

    • When is registration plate number assigned usually? - to arrange insurance swap
    • I assume I drive the trade in car up there and leave it with them on the collection date? Assuming they have that priced prior
    • How does that work for the final finance amount? Comes off deposit or monthly payments?
    • What do I sign on the day and I just need drivers license?
    • Can I expect my car to have much charge?
    • Anything else I should expect or any Irish resources with info?

    Thanks 🙏🏻

the reg will appear in the app the day before or sometimes the morning of collection which isn’t great. Mine was the evening before.
my car had about 25% charge if I remember right but I have heard of people having various amounts up to even 100%.
Give the car and look over and make sure you are happy it has no marks and everything works inside and just drive off and enjoy.

You get 150kms free SUC upon pickup so if needs be and logistically suitable you can fast charge to get home

    @beardo81

When is registration plate number assigned usually? - to arrange insurance swap

Collected mine on a Monday, had the reg on the Thursday before.

I assume I drive the trade in car up there and leave it with them on the collection date? Assuming they have that priced prior

Yes, park it up, they do a quick inspection, give them the log book, that's it. Must have 30 days NCT minimum.

How does that work for the final finance amount? Comes off deposit or monthly payments?

I didn't finance so not sure.

What do I sign on the day and I just need drivers license?

Just a driving license and log book for trade in. If I remember right you don't sign anything, you "accept" the new car in the app once you've inspected it and find no issues. I found a small dent and scratch. They buffed the scratch there and then but small dent remained, obviously. Had to bring it back which was fine, I live close enough to Baldonnel. Make sure you take your time to inspect and have a checklist.

Can I expect my car to have much charge?

Have heard different percentages, mine was around 95%

Anything else I should expect or any Irish resources with info?

I got there about 10 minutes early and they were happy to go ahead, as I was inspecting there were floods of people. Try get there early to avoid if possible :)

Plenty I’d say as they don’t seem to understand the Irish market or registration system. Cars are wanted here for January/February delivery every year as per the plate change.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,579 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

And July’ish for the new plate.
They are loosing 100’s of sales at a guess.

And not having a proper dealer set in with second hand cars for people to walk in off the trees and view is hindering their second hand market (but they don’t want that end of the market).

Looks like new model 3 won't even have standard autopilot. This is very disappointing. I was looking into them now that they put the indicator stalk back. My friend bought a cheap Renault 5 which has better features by default than the Model 3.

Autopilot is available since FSD is not officially launched in Ireland. Please refer below screenshot

The cheapest Renault 5 has a third less range than the M3 and back seats that don't fit adults (see the Renault 5 thread on this forum).

The Renault 5 styling is lovely (especially for someone like me who grew up in the 70s & 80s) but, apart from that, what features do you think it has better than the Tesla M3?

The new Model 3 is still available with standard autopilot. If you took a small amount of time to have a quick look at the Telsa website order page you would clearly see that.

Can I suggest you stop reading American conspiracy theory sites for your news?

When I bought my Model 3 in 2023 there was an 18 month wait on an MG4. From ordering to pickup for me was 6 weeks. I'll remember something like that when it comes to my next car but if social media is to be believed then people are indeed cancelling their orders due to delays currently being experienced. BYD seems to be the go-to brand at the moment for people to jump to from Tesla

I know its personal taste but I am going to ask anyway 😁.

Is it worth paying €1,200 extra for the white interior…..I think most of the cars you see have the white interior but that could just be my impression. I presume the white wears quicker, I only have one child in the rear and shes 8 so the mess isnt as bad as it used to be!

Have BYD anything to compete with the €36500 M3 Standard Highland though?😁

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,785 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

No, they don't really. The seal is €47k or €52k depending on whether you want the RWD or Long Range AWD spec, add another 2-3k for delivery and I think "servicing" is about €300 each time.

The Seal would be more comparable to the LR AWD Highland which retails from €51,246, depending on colour schemes and other extras.

When it comes to price the dolphin would be cheaper but smaller and the Atto 3 would be slightly more expensive but with more features

I recall doing one several years ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,785 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Yeah, servicing, you know, oil change, filter change, fluid top ups, checking for leaks in the exhaust, safety check…

Honestly I'm not sure what an EV service looks like but for the price they charge for it I always assumed they replace the HV battery and include a 2 night stay in a 4 star hotel. Seems not though…

RTE news : €8,500 scrappage grants to encourage switch to EVs

    http://www.rte.ie/news/politics/2026/0603/1576516-ev-scrappage-scheme/

I assume most saw this headline. I'm due to pick up my standard model 3 and trade in my 2006 diesel vw golf.

I might have held off but I live in Dublin anyways and no guarantee on timing of when this will be active.

I suspect increased depreciation on the model 3 I've yet to pick up. Tesla may get rid of the €2k trade in bonus knowing that customers won't mind and would still be €3k better off.

Id suspect until implemented this could damage sales as people hold off buying an EV to avail of the scheme.

I'm sure glad I changed from more expensive Long range given the inevitable depreciation. However, with that said I intend to drive the car for several years so don't care too much about depreciation.

I presume the grant in todays announcement will come through for new cars bought from July onwards (for the 262 reg) so anybody eligible who already has their order in will benefit from it. The fact you live in Dublin probably means you would struggle to get the grant anyway.

Tesla might suffer, people might decide not to buy a car this month and wait a few months until their next delivery to avail of the 5k grant but the rest of the EV industry would be alright
