Having a 10 argument today is a coping mechanism lads. This leinster team should have dominated Europe when everyone was in their prime and they didnt because of Cullen being entirely out of his depth. Now most of the main men are older and not quite at the same level but Cullen is inexplicably still there, and Nienbar hasn't brought the spark it was hoped he would

Spot on. Good to give single examples that suit narratives. He was good against NZ in 2024 too. Does that also suit your narrative?

Where's that lad that proudly claimed he would down in Bilbao enjoying his prawn sandwiches?

He was going to tell us how they tasted. I'm desperate to know

    Humiliation.

Like, we've been close to victories over the years, I think our defeats across the last three finals have been by an aggregate of 5 points? But this one especially has been abysmal. We were never in the game after the opening 10 minutes. Cullen and Nienaber haven't gotten tactics or selection right and they also haven't gotten the team in the right frame of mind motivation wise.

There'll be a post mortem over this, but I think what will come out is that the coaches need to go after the world cup, and the players will need to be given an ultimatum. You either treat your province with as much importance as you do your country or you miss out on selection. We were out tacticd on a coaching level, but out fought on a player level.

Moving on from the marytrs for Sam and Harry...

Awful awful performance and result. Something is existentially wrong at Leinster. Has to be serious change and hopefully it starts with with Nienaber.

No excuse for keeping Cullen et all at this point. Two years in a row we've been utterly humiliated, and looked completely unprepared. How many finals do we have to lose before he's shown the door?

    100%

Every bit as bad as Kidney at Ireland for wasting talent. Some key differences - he has been phenomenal at developing players - but ultimately he has been a failure as Leinster coach.

Bordeaux had: a better lineout, better Maul, Better Defense, Better Attack, Won 90% of collisions firs half, Better handling, Better kicking….

But when you look at the players on paper theyre pretty close…… which means there must be an absolute gulf in coaching/tactics/preparation.

How the **** did Leinster not hire Noel Mcnamara, theres an infection in the leinster organisation and it needs to be uprooted.

IRFU should've done everything they could to bring him back. To think we used to make fun of Clermont for losing finals.

Looking forward to commenting similarly on the Munster thread when you lose a final, although I probably won't live that long.

You don't lose 5 finals out of bad luck, root and branch changes needed anyone who thinks a tweak here and there will fix anything is deluded.

Paddy Mccarthy and Ryan Baird injury managment is the perfect sign at how badly this leinster coaching ticket is making its decisions.

    Just terrible all round.

Frawley did what he does well, carry hard at the line and distributed well. Skills that make him a very good 12, where he should've been playing the whole time.

Henshaw should've been moved on from this season, but Cullen persisted with him in the face of better options.

We were so off the pace physically. Bordeaux carriers were knocking out lads on their ass repeatedly, thought LBB in particular was incredibly strong in that respect. What is it about our set up that we repeatedly fail to come up short in that respect?

Noel McNamara speaks like a pro

    Imagine having that at Leinster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 920 ✭✭✭HanShotFirst

Things are bad when it takes Lawrence Dallagio to ask the obvious question

Why did Leinster, a team of world class players, not deliver a performance in the 1st half?

….Wish the screen then cut to JN and Leo Cullen.

Leinster need to stop pìssing away money on the likes of Ioane and snyman....

Id be calling a hault to these sabbaticals....

NZ and SA are laughing at Leinster funding their players.…

Radio just said Cullen confirmed that Carbery is coming back next season. Talk about going backwards ffs

    Cullen and Nienebar out!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,376 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

I've always been fairly ambivalent towards Cullen. He has delivered the required for the IFRU to keep him. Plenty of test quality players delivering at a high enough level.

Unfortunately that hasn't the been enough for Leinster to win the highest honors. The Leinster board needs to look at other options. Motivationally and tactically we've been outside again and again.

It’s a shame none of the “generational” Leinster players turned up today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,359 ✭✭✭Mike Murdock

This. And Madigan deflected and would not answer the question related to Cullen. It's an old boys' club, where any slight criticism of Cullen is deemed "negativity against Leinster". See Cullen's presser a few weeks back.

What negativity in the press! They are simply asking standard questions, ffs. Yet you have Leinster fans talking about "Red" journalists' bias being out to get poor Leo and Leinster? Imagine the "criticism" if he were managing a Top 14 side or a Premiership team!

This is the reason why Cullen will be given a further two years at the helm, when any other top club competing for the European Champions Cup would have booted him out years ago. Never mind last year after his myriad boneheaded decisions against The Saints.
