If you add the loan (that's being repaid) on a stadium that the IRFU part own then maybe you could come to the conclusion you want but if you look at the provinces and the payouts they get from the IRFU to run each province then Leinster has historically been the main beneficiary.

Who had the majority of CC for most of the noughties? hint : they wear red home shirts.

Leinster reap what they sow in the last decade or so. That IRFU was earned.

Aside from trying to point score, I've no idea what point you're trying to make but it doesn't take from the fact that historically Leinster has been the main beneficiary of the IRFU.

it doesn't take from the fact that historically the IRFU has been the main beneficiary of Leinster.

    Fixed your post there.

And the IRFU (and other 3 provinces combined) continue to benefit from leinster rugby on a year on year basis.

I hope premier sport sort out their coverage for today's game, impossible to watch Ulster with the lagging and buffering

Coming from Mr Point Score himself

There have been times when Munster were the main beneficiary of IRFU CC which were at least the same as the other 3 provinces combined. For the best part of a decade. Pro rugby is only 28 years in existence in Ireland.

For the last 10-15-20 years Leinster got their sh1t together away from the first team while Munster sat on their hands and ignored any sort of need to build pathways, player development etc. And guess what. Leinster are now the ones getting the rewards

And the other three provinces benefit handsomely from Leinsters work.

If you (and munster fans in general) put as much effort into asking qiaestions of your own clubs hierarchy as you put into whining about the IRFU then maybe things would be different. But its easy option to blame the IRFU, Leinster, Nucifora etc for your own provinces utter failure especially off the pitch. And now your CEO is giving media interviews all of a sudden when all the rugby journos are away in Bilbao. Maybe thats where your focus should be.

Excluding or even including CC over their lifespan, Leinster have been the main beneficiary of the IRFU.

I always find it fascinating the chip that some Munster fans have on their shoulder.

They’ve been propped up for years with signings from Leinster which have been ‘encouraged’ by the IRFU. And yet it’s apparently Leinster who are the main beneficiaries of the IRFU.

The reality is that the IRFU has been the main beneficiary of Leinster and Munster have been the second biggest beneficiary of Leinster. You just need to look at Munster’s front row stocks and see where they all came from. But that requires a bit too much soul searching. Easier to blame Andy Farrell for not picking Frisch, Healy and Kleyn.

For anyone who actually wants to talk about the game today, Conor Murray has a piece in today’s IT tipping Leinster to win and that Nienaber deserves the credit if we do.

He also notes that Nienaber is very funny and charismatic with the players, which runs contrary to how things are portrayed here

I couldn't care less how funny and charismatic he is with the players tbh.

To be fair clsmooth, there are also a tranche of Leinster fans who won’t accept valid points Munster fans make on this topic.

Anyways, Champions Cup final day so will leave it at that.

I couldn't watch last weeks games live because of the lagging. The replay was fine. Poor performance by Premier. Really hope it's OK today

Bordeaux backs are definitely much better than Leinster's so need our forwards to be better than theirs to have a chance of winning. Parity at scrumtime, shade the lineouts and better in the loose and mauls.

Also need Harry Byrne to have his kicking boots on

If Lowe is leaving, it's because the IRFU are low-balling him, not because of the CC change. With Ioane coming off the books and allegedly nobody coming in his place, there's no reason why IRFU/Leinster won't be able to come to a deal.

As mentioned above, Fissler is very much "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" journalist so while this could be true, it more than likely isn't.

If Leinster win today (and I think they have a very good chance)....

All is good with Leo and Nienaber????

It Depends. I can see why leinster would only be interested in a 1 year deal. If he wants a 2 year deal then he might need to go abroad to get it. That wouldn't be Leinster's fault.

Would you pay top dollar for Lowe at the end of his career and coming off the back of a serious injury? Low ball offer or 1 year deal makes sense for leinster. 2 year offer or very high wages for 1 year would be a big risk.

A Munster fan stating that "leinster have historically been the main beneficiary from the IRFU" and backs that claim up with no examples of this alleged, i suppose, favouritism, should be called out on it.

You’ve come onto a Leinster thread trying to point score and start an argument. It’s the exact thing you like to complain about when someone outside of Munster comes into the Munster thread.

Nope, read the op that I replied to. Zero point scoring in it. However, the reaction to my post is somewhat different.

is there something about the Nienaber game plan that has enabled the team to avoid injuries to key players?

Is there a game plan devised for knockout rugby that will come into its own now?

Facing a big pack with speedy backs, and very good half-backs, what would be Leinster’s best strategy?

IMHO, Leinster could look to move the breakdown around a lot, look to get off the line and pressure their backline before they get into their stride. Kick contestibles and play the territory, attack in their half (inside their 10-metre line), kick clearance kicks inside own 22, kick contestibles between the 22 and their 10-metre line.

Interesting point, are Leinster set up to score many points? Through tries from close in, and to take 3-pointers as they arise, which would be a very South African approach to knockout rugby. Keeping the score low, take your points when they’re on offer, make it a dogfight, might be the way to go.

Will be very interesting to see how Leinster tackle this challenge, I expect Bordeaux Bègles to have a lot of opportunities off set-pieces, so containing them at lineout/maul and off scrum platform will be key.

Should be a great contest, hopefully the heat doesn’t sap the Leinster players of their energy, perhaps their strategy may help avoid exhausting themselves, I.e. not getting bogged down on one-out pick and goes for little metre-gains.

Best of luck to the boys in Blue today, hopefully they’ll bring home the trophy!

Wow! I didn't know the majority of Ulster players were produced by the Leinster Academy. I bet even the players didn't know that. I am 100% certain that guys like Baloucoune, Ward etc were unaware of this fact. They'll be amazed when they learn that. Were they drugged or hypnotised into some sort of sporting amnesia. I would have thought that the majority of this team were from Ulster. Feel happy to correct the information below.

    1. Angus Bell (16)
    2. Tom Stewart (75) Ulster Academy
    3. Tom O’Toole (141)Ulster Academy
    4. Harry Sheridan (61)Ulster Academy
    5. Cormac Izuchukwu (54)Ulster Academy
    6. David McCann (89)Ulster Academy
    7. Nick Timoney (Captain) (183) Ulster Academy via Leinster AIL
    8. Juarno Augustus (16) SA.
    9. Nathan Doak (109)Ulster Academy
    10. Jack Murphy (34) Leinster
    11. Zac Ward (29)Ulster Academy
    12. Jude Postlethwaite (46)Ulster Academy
    13. James Hume (118)Ulster Academy
    14. Robert Baloucoune (78)Ulster Academy
    15. Michael Lowry (135)Ulster Academy

    Replacements:

    1. James McCormick (19)Ulster Academy
    2. Eric O’Sullivan (137) via Leinster AIL
    3. Scott Wilson (56)Ulster Academy
    4. Charlie Irvine (14)Ulster Academy
    5. Bryn Ward (19)Ulster Academy
    6. Conor McKee (22)Ulster Academy
    7. Jake Flannery (40)Munster
    8. Ethan McIlroy (77)Ulster Academy

Getting close to kick off now. We've a great chance of winning provided our rush defence clicks. I think Nienaber will have a plan specifically to smother Bordeaux before the ball gets to the wings.

Unfortunately I think we don't have enough impact off the bench, especially up front. Baird and Snyman are huge losses, physicality wise but also in the lineout. I think Baird's absence will be especially felt. Over the last few seasons he has developed his lineout game to become on of Europes best counter jumpers, stealing opposition throws. We really could have done with him today, cutting off Bordeaux's platform to launch attacks.
