When are people putting their mowers back to work? There's been a lot of growth in the past few weeks so put mine out yesterday, is it soon?

probably putting mine out in the next week or so- already took the top of the lawn with the mower and will repeat that again at the weekend.

Put mine back out yesterday…..due to how soft the lawn is its getting bogged down in a few spots, but working away overall……third season with it so touch wood it keeps going……it has paid for itself already at this stage

    Put mine out yesterday too.

Into it's 3rd season now and so far so good.

Only issue I have with it is it struggles to dock sometimes and starts digging up the ground in front of the base station at times which I have to fill in with soil/scraws.

Anyone else have this problem and what have ye done to overcome it ?

I was think of putting down a small section of astro in front of the base station to see if it helps.

Yeah mine does the same, the only thing I've been doing is just lifting it back in to charge each time. I'm planning to lift the docking station and just straighten out the wire running under it as much as possible in the next few weeks. From what I can see, most issues with it are down to the cable at the docking station, I only set it up quickly so didn't play around with it properly yet. 2 years later...

Good to know its not just mine anyway - like that I've been manually docking it but most times it has the ground dug up before I see it.

I'm thinking of lowering the base station slightly into the ground to see if that helps too

I put a piece of chicken wire in front of the dock to help with the mower skidding and not docking. I pegged the chicken wire down with the perimeter cable pegs. It works really well. Also the grass grows up through chicken wire so you dont see it. if the wheels start spinning they grip on to the chicken wire to give traction

Thanks - that sounds like a very good idea in fairness.

Where is the best place to get replacement blades at the moment - aware cheapest is not always the best ?

I put this piece of timber flush with the ground. It works very well

Anyone get a replacement power supply anywhere? Mine got submerged in water and is not fried so wondering is there anywhere to get a replacement...

Does anyone have a power supply they would be willing to sell? Just need the power supply and not the charging unit.

They've a solar charger next week which might do ye. Along with a new 1250sqm robot mower without the need for a boundary wire, be interesting to see how that review goes.

    Hi.

Hopefully someone can help. This is my 2nd season with my mower and I have always had a few issues with it going back on to the charger.

The run in to the charger is straight and the cable runs in the groove under the base. Base is nice and flat and secure but it seems to wiggle when it goes in to the dock and won't engage the charging pins. It then comes in and out a few times but never sorts itself out then eventually shuts down.

Has anyone fixed a similar issue

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 BbSean

    Is it constant or occasional?

last year I had a similar issue - think it was making poor contact with the charging head/docking head.

Can’t remember if I cleaned the contacts on the base.

It was never very good. Would miss maybe 1 in 5 times but late last season and then this season it is missing it all the time.

Got these delivered yesterday, blades look good but the screws that came with them were both too thin and long so had to re-use the existing screws.

Anyone know of any blades that come with the correct screws ?

I have to say that my second season is a bit of a disaster with this mower. Last year it worked very well, considering the cost of it. I'm not expecting premium performance for budget price, but this year it's constantly stopping or getting stuck. It keeps reporting Emergency Stop and I'll find it stopped for no apparent reason. I just press the power button, enter the PIN, and off it goes again. I don't know what could have changed since last year?😕

Had similar with mine but just done a major clean underneath and it seems to be working fine now. Initially it was just the higher than normal grass it was encountering but now that its down to a normal height its flying it again.

A few people have talked online about removing the combs in front of the blades and that seems to make it much more reliable, haven't removed mine yet but thinking about it.

I removed those combs last year and it helps a lot with preventing getting stuck

On third season with this mower and this year I have had the same problem of it randomly stopping with emergency stop showing on the screen. I cleaned it and did all that and it was still doing it. So I took it apart to see if there was moisture anything on the inside.

It was completely dry on inside which was good.

I did find a ball of solder rolling around which could have been triggering the magnetic sensors. There was also a loose sensor which I tightened up. Put it back together and it's going perfect since.....

I don't know if I actually did anything or it was coincidence or because I had to give it a clean as I was taking it apart. But I am delighted to get a third season out of it🤞

Anybody going to take a punt on the performance model?

It is not available anywhere. I am not even sure there were any for sale to start with. They are 600 euros in France vs 480 here, and we pay extra Paddy Tax on Parkside equipment.

If anyone is looking for super cheap blades I got these from aliexpress and they fit perfectly:

    https://a.aliexpress.com/_EQ6DuGO

I've only just put them on this year but they seem fine, I don't know how to compare them to the more expensive blades but they are about 40% cheaper than even the cheap Amazon ones.

As regards the front and side guards, I have a 250sqm Parkside 'City' robot mower and have about 45mm of moss in this kids play area. 45mm is the max the cut height will go and the guard kept getting stuck on the moss every few feet.

Removed the guard and problem solved. Mows like a champ now. Will address the moss issue with scarifying, Mobacter and aerating.

Do the correct screws come with them to fit Parkside ?

Picked up one of the solar chargers in Lidl at the weekend. We had been hoping to move the mower's docking station to a different part of the garden (where there isn't any mains available), but the solar unit just isn't very good.

A big issue is that the solar charger can only output 1A to the robot mower, compared to 2.5A from the mains charger. This means that the mower will stay docked over twice as long to charge, which is a big loss of mowing time.

You can route the mains through the solar unit, but even if you do, you are still limited to the 1A output.

The main dealbreaker though is that the boundary wire signal goes down when the solar panel loses sufficient light (at dusk), even when the battery in the solar charging station is full. The upshot is that the mower loses the signal when it's out cutting and stops in place.

This is so terrible, that I'm not convinced that my unit isn't faulty. However, everything else seems to work, so I can only assume that this is working as intended. Routing the mains through the solar unit 'fixes' this, but I don't know why you would buy this kit in the first place if mains is available.

I was looking around for this one too but no joy.

I'm done with corroded boundary wire and temperamental connections.
Anyone recommend a non-wired robot mower?
