I imagine it depends on the circumstances and whether or not the player in question wants his club to be made aware. There is no official process - we know for example that Conway's move to Munster came completely out of the blue to Leinster.

There's a bit of rain forecast but not much

With Leinster's handling issues, a few drops could turn it into a scrumfest and there's only one winner there.

I'm quietly confident in Leinster today.

I'm probably in the minority and I hope my confidence isn't misplaced!

With home advantage, and a strong team, it's at least 50:50. There's no reason not to be optimistic unless you don't want to be.

I'm optimistic for a great game at the very least. No idea how to pick a winner. Can't wait for the match!

For those who think it's in Toulons favor.

You'll get 4/1 on them to win currently, which in a one off two horse race is very wide odds.

Myself I'm quietly confident in the ability of our players, if not the coaching staff.

I think we'll have enough for Toulon. They're a decent side and worked very hard to keep Glasgow at bay, especially in the second half. But the latter were injury depleted and lacked power up front. We won't have that same issue. If we're focussed we should win this by at least 10 points.

It's natural to be nervous about this fixture as we so badly underperformed last season and have failed to perform consistently in this one. But there have been some encouraging signs over the last few knockout games that things are coming together, even if we weren't accurate with everything attempted.

I'm also leaning heavily on what Dan Sheehan has said recently in the media about the squad acknowledging their struggles to gel and taking more ownership over performances. I'm hopeful we'll see Leinster peak over the next month or so.

As a casual - I see Leinster as almost unbackable odds favorites/easy game for them and then read in here that Toulon will have too much for them?

I do recall similar or worse odds then seeing Leinster given the run around by The Rochelle?

can someone clarify is there any reason Leinster are down as massive favourite?

I'd probably sum it is as: they're a great team but aren't playing great.

They're the bulk of the Loins and have history as a brilliant team, but recent form this season and recent years in champions cup knock outs haven't lived up to the potential.

All in all, there's contradictory evidence so it's very difficult to predict what will happen. I love when sport is like that. It's exciting.

How TF is that a knock on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,291 ✭✭✭TheRona

Knock on means it has to be knocked FORWARD. If anything, that went backwards.

    Ridiculous.

His right hand fingers never lost contact.

Commentator: Doesnt matter if its an inch or a foot.

OK, but it wasn't even a milimetre. Ridiculous.

That lineout looked a bit dodgy too.

Harry Byrne is not having a good day.

    WTActual??

What was the second yellow for?

At times like this a decent commentator might explain to the viewer what just happened.

Scoreboard didn't reflect how much better Leinster were than Toulon.

The Nienaber rush defence came out on tops today and I think a few on here need to reflect on that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 107 ✭✭revth1990

Nienbar defense nearly lost leinster the game as soon as Touoon decided to go wide in the last 20, everyone unecessarily biting in and creating overlaps that don't exist out wide is schoolboy level defending

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,401 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

But in reality it shut down so many Toulon attacks well before the gain line and frequently put them on the back foot.

What brought the opposition back into the back was their stronger bench. Which is a far bigger concern for Leinster. We need players back soon.

Delighted. Atmosphere for once was good in the Aviva too.

Was happy before the game that Prendergast made the bench, but he should not be put into the back 3. It's a disaster at this level. He lacks the two key attributes of speed and tackling ability. JOB would be a better shout for the 23, and probably Frawley for 22. Can't afford that defensive liability versus a team like Bordeaux.

I agree with the tackling comment but I think he is deceptively quick

But there was no need to put him in the back 3. It was a bizarre decision.
