Wicklow shouldn't have beaten you otherwise they would. Wicklow suffer from the same pressure Louth do having not beaten Dublin in Leinster in an age. Louth not only have that but the added pressure of being favourites.

Dublin as the second most successful GAA team ever are also contenders for Sam. Louth are not. We'll see this weekend.

Obviously for the greater good of the sport I hope I'm wrong and you're right.

I was at the game , Wicklow lost it, Dublin didn’t win it. The Wicklow keeper is apparently usually sat nav accurate and he missed 5-6 very scorable frees along with their forward line wasting some great opportunities. Doesn't matter if it was pressure , Dublin didn’t intentionally give them loads of chances to beat us knowing they wouldn’t take them.

Dublin were awful and only a 1-2 quick fire from nowhere before HT had us leading at the break.

Football doesn’t always reward the better team, sometimes it rewards the luckier team or a team that relies on the other team to not take chances a better team would of punished.

I’ve seen nothing all year to suggest Dublin deserve , on actual form, to be favourites against Louth. Dublin were lucky to beat Monaghan (who wasted similar chances) and give up an awful amount of goal chances in every game we play. Even clicking against Roscommon came from nowhere and they were horribly naive , with Dublin basically being more tactically astute using the wind.

I’ve nothing much to say about meath cause this is a Dublin thread but I do remember there probably was more of us dubs at the match watching meath beat us last year then your own fellow meath men. Maybe if meath people focused more on their own team then blaming Dublin for everything, they might find more success, just a thought

Louth are the current Leinster championship so will have the belief and rightly so ,they have nothing to fear about Dublin who they put it up to in the not too far distant past. I am not completely ruling out Dublin but we are as I have said a bang average team so very few teams should have any fears about playing us .

I think that poster is only codding at this stage . Same comments rehashed. Just the dates change. Going around in circles.

I unignored that poster to see if their “quality” of posting has improved. It hasn’t .
I have come to the conclusion that the particular poster doesn’t really like football or even hurling. What they do like to do, is moan and whine. The type who is happiest when miserable. Imagine going on a car trip with that constant whinging beside ya!

You also have to ask why that poster is so interested in this thread. They are not from Dublin, they don’t support Dublin, and their team is not even playing Dublin. I assume they don’t live in Dublin.

When what they want to “have a chat” about is more suited to other threads on this site. It is very odd behaviour indeed.

    -/

Anyway, I am looking forward to the O’Moore Park trip. Enjoyed the last one to Aughrim. Very friendly fun atmosphere and believe it or not everyone seemed happy and friendly. Which added to the atmosphere. There wasn’t a misery guts in sight!

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

That poster is one of the Meath 'supporter' that spends more time thinking about Dublin than his own county ,I actually thought he had given up on the matches due to all the advantages Dublin had according to himself ,maybe he would be better off thinking about other things and not getting upset .

Wicklow fans were so friendly and took defeat in better spirit then I would have if I was in their shoes. They really left that game behind.

Pessimistic Pete here is going to Laois to watch us lose but we can live in hope that maybe a Roscommon performance (or Galway first half) can be plucked out of nowhere.

I am confused. Aren't Louth Leinster champions? Didn't they bring it back from irrelevance by winning it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,177 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

Meath people along with every other county including Dublin had been boycotting the Leinster championship for years including that game last year. You'll probably find proportional to population Dublin were as badly supported Vs meath last year as Meath were.

If you want this trend to change we need Dublin to not return to winning every year. The GAA in the past publicly declared they need Dublin winning (in reality they didn't) so I don't see the issue with stating out loud we need you to lose now for the good of the sport.

Dublin are still my favourites for Leinster despite the fact the best midfielder in the country (Fenton) decided to retire early. Bored of winning I'm sure.

Look how many Louth fans attended the final the previous year when they played Dublin. Dublin being eliminated in the semi created a return to the good old days. It was like an all Ireland final around croker on the Day.

If teams in Leinster want to change things maybe they should better use their resources then try to drag Dublin down to their level. I know plenty of meath men who have bigger issues with how their own county board have managed the last 2 decades then on what Dublin are doing.

And as I recall, Leinster teams actually wanted Dublin playing in croke park when the attendances were high and the money was rolling in. The game this weekend isn’t in Laois because all county’s really wanted Dublin playing in neutral venues.

Pure and utter nonsense post, you clearly cant stand Dublin GAA, your anti Dublin obsession is not healthy

We should just ignore the troll. Don’t take the bait

Any word on whether Con is fit for this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,526 ✭✭✭Dogsdodogsstuff

What’s the injury ? Not many clear up in two weeks.

Also, he didn’t look right at all for the Wicklow game, I presume we all take it that it was simply he wasn’t fully fit as he had to go off?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,389 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Yeah back on the ignore list. I checked the Meath thread. That poster is conspicuous by their absence on it. If everyone on this thread put them on ignore. It can return to normality.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Theo back in the squad. Surprised con is down to start. Wouldn’t have thought his hammy be recovered in 2 weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,389 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

I wonder is Ger / Dean doing smoke and mirrors ? Although wasn’t the starting team in Aughrim unchanged from the programme ?

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Really will believe the starting fifteen when the ball is just about to be thrown in on Saturday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,662 ✭✭✭showpony1

Dublin will win this by a few points - the league games mean nothing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,752 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

Only if the more senior players turn up. If Con performs, I can't see Louth winning.

Heading down tomorrow ,not sure what to expect ,the team seems to be a bit stronger than the last day but it just depends what improvement we make from the last day .Louth definitely have a decent chance but I don't think they are that good and are not serious All Ire contenders.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 401 ✭✭toffeeshel

Heading down too. I make Dubs slight favourites based on absolutely nothing but history.
Am I right in thinking that if we lose tomorrow we will be away to a provincial finalist in the knockout round and therefore it’s possible that we won’t have a championship match in croker this year?

Could be unlucky and draw Kerry in Killarney

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,662 ✭✭✭munster87

Missing Con could end up being the difference tonight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,632 ✭✭✭Gael85

Can't see him playing after pulling up two weeks ago. Think Louth will win regardless if playing or not.
