Ordered a standard RWD - no Vin yet but showing May 23rd to Jun 8. Fingers crossed it sticks to this. Ordered start of this month.

I was told there was 9 stealth grey available to order from next delivery and some black ones also.

Took it for a test drive, very nice.

After the Spring update on my Juniper Premium Y (Presume the same on Highland Premium 3) the rear screen now has navigation info such as arrival time and a map. Might be of help to those "Are we there yet".🙂

Also the Blind spot warning now shows up on the Accent lights in Red.

    Nice updates, among others imo.

You can drop a message to the Tesla rep on the app asking for a VIN number and you should get one. We ordered at the end of last month, and see the same delivery dates as you, so the cars must be on the Eco star vessel.

And it appears those 9 cars are booked as the website now says Aug-Sep delivery for Std M3.

    Can check here either https://tesla-status.mrproper.dev/

    Edit - For the VIN

Parked car and came back 2 hours later to find a crack in windscreen from base to about 40% up the screen. Never seen it happen before. Is it M3 specific thing or just a generic faulty windscreen issue?
Any views on whether this can be driven (I’ve a 120km journey this evening) or is the crack likely to spread across full screen?

Did you take a 2026 model for test drive? You are aware there is a lot stripped out on 2026 standard than what was in standard highland model?

Like no rear screen amongst others. Does anybody know if I installed an aftermarket rear screen would it void warranty? If I removed before taking to Tesla for any issues would they know I had being using an aftermarket rear screen?

Just posted that photo you shared on chatgpt and it seems mostly likely you had a small chip and the higher temperatures yesterday caused it to spread to a crack quite quickly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,792 ✭✭✭creedp

Had a closer look and found what looked like a tiny impact point hidden underneath the base wiper arm. Difficult to understand how a chip/ stone could have impacted the screen hard enough in that location to cause damage.

Presumably insurance covers any windscreen damage irrespective of cause? Do they ever inspect damage? Don’t fancy having to shell out for a replacement at this point!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,352 ✭✭✭Sleamhain

Insurance will cover it no issue, but it shows up as a claim on your policy as far as I remember. I had to get my windscreen and one of the roof glass panels replaced in one visit.

If I remember, the AC started acting weird after replacement. Something to do with a sensor in the screen near the camera and they had to repush the most recent software update again to fix it. (Model 3, 2023 AWD LR) also camera will need to recalibrate after for autopilot.

Thanks. I have no claim bonus protection so probably OK on that front, although I thought windscreen replacement did not effect the NCB on my policy. In any case I’d better contact my insurance and get the ball rolling in case there’s any delay sourcing a replacement

Sorry, it didn't affect my NCB. I just mean it is now listed on my policy as a claim....it's semantics from the insurance companies really. They have to put it on, but you dont lose your NCB.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,377 ✭✭✭lightspeed

I would assume windscreen replacement would not affect insurance but be careful of the wording. I was told I could have 2 claims within 3 years without my no claims bonus being affected. However, my insurance did go up because after I claimed for damaging a door on a garage car given to me on loan. It was a Renault Clio that was brand new at the time in 2023.

It was a small dent and a scratch but garage milked it and said a replacement door was needed

NCB might be protected, but base premium will rise.

That's how they get around it. Of course they want their money back.

Probably too late but hopefully your back ok. If not take it handy.

The windscreen & glass roof are critical structural element. As a result, they are designed such that they have quite large internal stresses to manages external forces. Thats why a small amount of damage can result in such a large crack even if the car hasnt moved - a bit of sun today would have increased the temp and resulting in a stress crack.

If that crack was on the passengers side, then you should defo limit driving.
This is the warning from Tesla's manual

When deployed, the front passenger airbag relies on the passenger side of the windshield to properly position the airbag to protect the passenger. Because windshield repair may affect the positioning of an airbag during deployment, repairs are not allowed in this area.

Cheers. Got back fine and the crack hasn’t deteriorated any further. It’s located directly in front of drivers view so could be distracting on a wet night drive.

It happened when parked in sunshine but I’m not sure if it’s related to a stress fracture or related to stone chip damage. It’s very hard to see how a stone chip could have caused it as crack starts from a point covered by wiper arm.

Timing is everything insurance is due for renewal in 2 weeks so will have to claim and see will in result in an increase in renewal premium

Yeah, I took it for a drive. Once as passenger and another time as a driver, very enjoyable experience both times.

I'm aware of whats stripped out. No need for a screen in the back, not many passengers. We have a kid but a permanent screen in there would cause mayhem with wanting to watch stuff so I don't mind that being gone at all.

Same with heated rear seats, no need for those whatsoever. The premium interior/leather would have been nice to have but the fabric/leather combo on the new rwd is actually quite nice.

Compared to the standard Y, the Model 3 retains an awful lot compared. The price difference compared to the LR RWD is 9k+ euro which the changes dont justify for me.

Could probably get GPT to list out mods that void warranty btw.

The fabric and plastic leather combo is actually great. I think they should have gone for the full fabric fit here - Tesla pleather lets the vehicles down in a way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 528 ✭✭✭serjical_strike

Yeah, very comfortable when test driving. No need for the cooling that was taken out either, I presume much more relevant in hotter climates.

Leather/Fabric is similar to my Cupra which tbh, I took no notice of it being partial leather/fabric the last 3 years that I've I had it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,062 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

To be clear, the disappointing Tesla plastic leather is in the pre-Highland/pre-Juniper vehicles. The later vehicles did have nicer pleather material.

But the fabric is top notch, feels quite premium and combined with the slightly tweaked seat shape from the OG vehicle series, I feel it's an improvement.

I love the cooling seats in my new Y, only used in the last week or so but now I leave on lowest setting with the good weather. Suits me as I don't use aircon much unless temp gets hotter.

I find the Y generally doesn't get as hot inside as my previous 2022 Model 3, probably due to the darker headlining, tints and better UV protected glass roof.

Any one recently got Model 3 standard rwd, could you please confirm if it came with floor mats and double glazed glass in the front doors? On the last test drive, recall seeing same glass thickness for both front and rear doors.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 198 ✭✭yermanthere

It came with carpet floor mats, triangle, FM radio, alloy wheels and mirrors that fold electrically. And charging cable.

So different spec to either USA or even Euro.

It does not have double glazing anywhere. Or granny charger.

    Still fairly quiet tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 528 ✭✭✭serjical_strike

Oh! It has the electric mirrors? I didn't know that. Should be getting mine iend of the month/early June. Missed this but also did think that we had the double glaze in the front. Forgot to check on test drive.

Any idea why we get different spec to other euro countries, even UK?

I just traded in a MY with the double-glazed windows, and even though my new M3 rwd only has the single glazing, I still think it's quieter. The mats are carpet mats, so won't take too much to get them manky. Get a waterproof set from Ali-express, Amazon or Adverts even.

This is one of the things that sold me after my test drive(s), it was so quiet. I dont have the comparison to the Y but compared to the car I have now, which drives me insane with how noisy it is on the road, its so quiet. Something I'm looking forward to most really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 198 ✭✭yermanthere

Ireland &UK spec for model 3 rwd/standard is the same. Different from rest of Europe.

The alloy wheels are the big one, compared to the steelies with saucepan-lid hubcap! That rest of world gets. The electric folding mirrors, I dunno. Maybe would have preferred double glazing in front like USA.

Its weird how they can change the spec in each market, but with alloys , FM radio, and mirrors I think this market has the sweet spot for price.

    And HW4.

Out of interest how much was a Stardard range highland before the change to the premium long range only?

Tesla is looking for 36600 for a 2024 with 25k miles.

    Graham walker is about 30k

What would you get offered on a trade in of a 2024 highland with less than 40k km?

its hard to not push to a new standard range non premium given its price also I understand there is a boost coming soon so thrrr might be a flood of 2024 models coming to market.

I recently asked for a trade in quote from Tesla on my 2025 M3, RWD and they said €32,000 + €2,000 trade in bonus offer so €34,000. Now that just the offer over the phone and the final offer can go up and down.
