Downeys Portlaoise. First service was Jan 2024 and second service was last November.

All garages do not have the charge the same, that's why shopping around is the smart move.

Thanks looks like it, I wrongly assumed as all part of the Kia Ireland group that getting ev6 serviced in Cork or Dublin would cost same.

I test drove the new ev6 earlier this week, as looking for something a bit bigger to go with our ID3.

I wasn't really a fan overall, found the seating position quite low (even with jacking it up) and I felt that the shape and length of the bonnet obscured the view a little bit. I'm over 6ft so not like I was peering over the steering wheel.

Great space in the cabin and boot, great range and it looks reasonably nice. Everything else was fine vis a vis electric cars, so I wouldn't say there was anything redeeming to overcome the driver position imo. I'm sure the 800v charging architecture is a great addition though.

    For c 52k brand new, i don't think it's for me.

Planning to look at Model Y, Seal and Ioniq 5 as alternatives.

If you are looking at the Seal then the Ioniq 6 is not a million miles away and priced quite keenly considering it is essentially an EV6 in different clothes. Can be had brand new for less than €47k for the top spec model and less than €44k for the N-Line package.

I do like the look of the Ioniq 6, but seems quite small on the boot size!

Has anyone had a detachable towbar fitted?

Looking for a way to carry a couple of bikes.

    Any recommendations around Leinster?

Are we getting this warranty extension for the iccu that other countries are getting?

I got one fitted by the garage that I bought the car in. I leave it on all the time. 4 bike rack on it no problem.

Is anyone having issues with the 12v battery. My EV6 is 21 model, new battery went into it last winter, I just changed it as have had evs for a while abd know once it starts its game over.

The problem atm is that, occasionally and with no pattern, I switch on and get the warning for 12v low battery. Bug sometimes if I switch off abd back on its ok. Other times its jump leads.

Maybe It's time for a new battery but it seems a bit much to be getting a new battery every 18 months. What drains it?

Have you dash cam wired permanently? OBD adapter in place? Both these and am sure more can drain 12v..but ICCU should kick in also and top it up. Also if don't lock doors/windows, can cause car to keep checking and sending noticiations running down battery 🪫

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 429 ✭✭this.lad

    Thanks.

I have a dashcam but its plugged into the 12v socket. The most confusing part of it is that I could have just stopped and restart and It could be gone. Its frustrating to say the least.

Ill keep an eye and maybe just get a new battery.

Repeated Short journeys with no longer one to recharge the 12volt will kill it very quickly. If this is a pattern to your driving then just leaving the car on for an hour every now and again will charge it up.

I’d get that battery checked as it’s probably still under warranty. Could well be faulty, not that uncommon. Is it a reputable make ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 429 ✭✭this.lad

I drove 550k in it yesterday. Theres no pattern Unfortunately. Was flat now when I turned it on.

Ill check the warranty as suggested

You can also pickup bluetooth 12v battery connections that sit on the battery and link to an app on your phone. Makes monitoring easy.

Battery should last more than 18m though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,062 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

That would be handy - any links for an example?

Have an older vehicle here with a very small drain - not enough to cause the problems being seen above but enough that it needs a weekly long run to keep it healthy.

Bluetooth Battery Monitoring System | MicksGarage https://share.google/dZ2BDpcIVOD55cQ20

Something like this and maybe grab a 12v booster too.

Still, the battery shouldn't be giving issues so early, if cat under warranty get it checked

Another thing that is both helpful and unhelpful is that you can keep an eye on the 12 Volt battery in the Kia app. This has saved me a few times by seeing a 12 Volt battery warning and then running the car for an hour or two to charge it back up.

The unhelpful part is that logging into the app discharges the 12 Volt battery as well!! 🤣

Any idea when the new 262 offers will be available from Kia and if the home charger will be offered again this time around?

What brand of home charger are they offering?

Its energia that do the home charger offer with kia and they offer a choice.

A work colleague got the offer with an opel EV recently only 1 possible tariff to go on which had poor rates and a 400 euro breakage fee with 2 years. In effect, its not a free charger at all but we should all know that by now.

My dad did it with energia when buying an ev6 last year and there were a few choices of tariffs but only a 200 breakage fee.

Get a 12v Bluetooth battery Monitor, you can keep an eye on the battery health and SOC. Each time turn on car it connects and so downloads all the data since last connection.. Can see iccu kicking in during the night.. Builds confidence 😊

Had a test drive in the Kia EV6 and the Ioniq 6N over the past few days, both really lovely cars to drive but that bloody 12v battery issue is putting me off trading in. I really like both

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,085 ✭✭✭tommythecat

I mean it's all relative. I've had the car over 3 years and have never had a dead 12volt. If I'm doing multiple short journeys and no long one for a while I will keep an eye on the app. Not a major pain. Love the car.

Just pick yourself up a little power pack booster if your worried, around €50 on Amazon or wherever - peace of mind.

How’re the ICCU’s holding up on the facelift Ev6?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,873 ✭✭✭John arse

Kia/Hyundai are saying that the issue has been fixed apparently?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,062 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Well the ICCUs being put into Insters are recently as March 2026 are still failing, so I'd be sceptical about that fix claim.

What they seem to be doing is programming a workaround and hoping the units last longer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 504 ✭✭✭vinniem

This ICCU issue going on now 4 years, would have thought Hyundai/Kia would by now have identified the components/issue and fixed.. Or just use different suppliers 🤔

I'm thinking about going to Northern Ireland to look at a 2022 EV6 GT Line.

It says that it's AWD - all wheel drive.

Is this standard on all EV6, or are they normally only RWD?

If it's an option, is AWD desirable? Does it impact range?
