Has anyone tried the new Dosa Delight in Ballincollig? A sister of Dosa Spot Iin the city I believe.

It always seems to be full when I'm passing.

Tried the new Spud Hut in the Black Market today.

It's located where Pie Guys were.

They had a difficult first day as there was a power outage when I arrived, but they were still able to do the roast spuds with toppings.

I got one with beef brisket and my wife got a pulled pork one. The beef one was delicious and nicely filling, the pork one was tasty too, perhaps a little wet, but plenty of meat in it.

We also had a homemade lemonade and that was lovely and very refreshing.

Overall I was impressed and will be going back to try their other options.

His previous endeavours in the black market have been decent and glad this one is keeping in line with the quality.

    Some info:

For Easter our main cook got sick so went to Blarneys Woolen Mill and picked up, four turkey dinners with veg and fries. We loved it , I think before I already recommended it for groups at short notice. Highly recommended.

Looneys in Mayfield - old school chipper. Handcut chips and great price. Cash only though.

That is disappointing @sporina, it's been years since I visited the Four Liars. Izz is consistent though, enjoy.

Has anyone visited the new Syrian grill, Habibi on Camden Quay? Some of the prices look very expensive, but the reviews so far look good.

we got food to take home from Thai Foodie truck - on Harley St - absolutely delicious.. wow - massamam chicken curry, a thai waterfall chicken salad and spring rolls to share with a tamarind sauce.. portions wer actually deceptively sufficient.. can still taste the massamam - in a good way.. v reasonably priced - €30 for the lot - where would you get that from a take out these days.. quality stuff.. maybe not a lot of chicken but didn't feel lacking as there was soo many other ingredients and flavour.. cannot wait to try more from her menu.. this could be a regular fri eve thing for a while.. no pics.. didn't even think of it - could not wait to dig in.. lack of pic speaks volumes sometimes.. highly recommend - different locations throughout the week - check website.. thaifoodie.ie

Plus one for this. They do Wilton market on Tuesday and they’re excellent.

Their stuff looks nice (from online!)

However, they seem to be poor on the Allergen information. Words like 'sometimes' are very vague and seem to be a copy and paste information for most of what they sell and a general blanket ban for anyone with an allergy. Not very confident to go there unfortunately.

    Namak

The photo below is of the salmon starter (EUR 12.95). I also had Chettinad chicken (EUR 20.5) for main course. Both fantastic.

The best Indian restaurant style food I have ever had in this city. I highly recommend.

Hadn't heard of that place but all the initial reviews look good! I've booked in

To be honest - if youre talking about a tiny cooking space like a food truck , they cant really do separate prep spaces , and even separate utensils is a bit suspect , its fine for "i dont really eat wheat",or "i tend to avoid dairy " but not good enough at all for a coeliac,or a full on allergy to shellfish ect,

It's newly opened, in the past week or so. They have a place in Belfast too, called Jharna I think.

Went there this evening. Namak is excellent. Really nice curries and tandoori dishes

    Glad you enjoyed it!

I must try their lunch menu. 2 courses for EUR 17 is good value considering the quality of the food.

Might go try it for lunch during the week, i've a couple of days off work.. thanks

Nice… is it take away? Somewhere to sit and eat?

Also, Sporina, as you seem to appreciate Thai food, and it's so hard to find good Thai in the city, would you recommend Camile Thai in Bishopstown?

    TIA.

Also, any reviews here on Little Vietnam on Paul Street? The little food truck outside Tesco.

Particularly the spring rolls and pho :)

hiya thai foodie is a food truck - for take away.. check her out "thaifood.ie" - looking forward to Friday already - gonna get thai red curry..

had Camile Thai once - portions wer tiny - we had to have a sambo afterwards.. we wer still hungry… that was a few years ago - not tried since

I’ve had the misfortune of going to Camille Thai once…food was pretty grim tbh. I would Avoid. There’s a place near the old tennis village that’s miles better take away.

    Oh dear… thanks both @sporina @ferg01

Does anyone know anything about Mantra?

    Or Thali Nepal?

Been to the latter before and service was chronic and Just Eat prioritised over diners. But happy to give it another go for decent grub.

Needs to be in the city next week as going to a gig later.

    Thanks

Mantra is great, I've been several times. A little bit on the pricey side but I really liked the food. Haven't tried Namak yet.

    Namak again. So good.

No pics, but went to Mantra last night.

Had steamed chicken dumplings for starters, just ok. Lacked in flavour. The accompanying sauce saved it.

Vindaloo and Tikka Masala for mains along with generous pilau rice. Had a plain naan as well. Menu a bit limited in selection.

Only discovered they do a Thali plate after we'd ordered and saw someone else getting it. We'd definitely have gone for that instead.

Overall it was nice, I think the presentation plates etc made it feel authentic. Sizes were generous. But, once again, a bugbear of mine with Indian restaurants, rice was extra. Paying €22 on average for a main is expensive enough, adding in another €3/4 for rice is a bit much. It's like getting a dinner of bacon and cabbage and paying extra for the spuds!

Namak is next on the list to visit.
