is it just AL are too lazy to update their website or is there some significance to the fact that when I looked for Cork Dubrovnik flights next October I get a message saying the timetable is not released yet? Hadn’t realised it was pulled before I looked just to explain…

Just haven’t taken it off the system yet. AMS was still there for months after the last flight.

Frankfurt flight gone effectively immediately, airline has shut down. Incredible

They might replace them with mainline though. Some of the flights were already on A319 by LH.

This is part of their response to the ongoing industrial action.

It looks like theres no LH until June, flights on Tuesdays appear to still be on sale. Cityflyer flights are still on sale from July onwards. I assume both are yet to be removed.

I wouldn’t be surprised if LH doesn’t make a return to Cork this year after the news. They simply do not have enough mainline aircraft to cover the routes lost. Cityflyer had 27 planes.

If actually cancelling the whole summer schedule on such short notice, rebooking all issued tickets to KLM/AF and maybe some to Edelweiss within the same group could turn out quite expensive to Lufthansa.

I myself have a few flights booked with LH from Cork over the next months. Would be sad to see them gone, because they brought KLM/AF prices a bit down at least throughout the summer. Not much competition for European connections otherwise.

I see KLM are cancelling flights next month due to fuel costs.

Anyone know if Cork is affected?

According to news articles, the cancelled flights are on high frequency routes like London where affected passengers can be rebooked on other flights that day.

Lufthansa has officially cancelled all flights to Cork now until 31 May. Dates from 1 June are open for booking again though and will hopefully be serviced by mainline or a different subsidiary.

Looking at their schedule it seems there might actually be only 2 based aircraft this winter. Makes sense given we will be down 4 routes on last year, and even then the 3 aircraft were hardly ever fully utilised..

Very disappointing. Another decent destination gone.

Lufthansa seems to have finalised their new schedule now:

    • All flights to Cork cancelled until 31 May
    • June: Operated by Lufthansa (mainline) 2/7 Monday and Friday
    • July: Operated by Lufthansa (mainline) 6/7 Sunday to Friday

All available for new bookings. My flights on cancelled dates until July were automatically changed to Dublin, but rebooked on KLM from Cork without any issue after calling LH.

July onwards is still showing as Cityline. Perhaps it will be changed to what June is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 79 ✭✭melchior1951

Nothing is certain but I have bookings on Tuesdays in July and they have changed to Lufthansa (not Cityline) in my account. The agent confirmed that they're not going to be cancelled.

Lufthansa confirmed our June 21st Frankfurt flight is cancelled.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 79 ✭✭melchior1951

That fits in the June schedule. You would need to ring and ask to be rebooked on KL or AF or EI+BA.

LH to Frankfurt is now operated by Lufthansa 2/7 Monday and Friday for the rest of the summer schedule. Still better than completely cancelled.

Some changes made from EI for W26:

    Malaga to run 4x weekly,

Lyon runs 2x weekly until end of January,

Lanzarote runs 6x weekly for Christmas period and March

Early indications (?) of a 4th a/c being based. Some days in March have 2x Ceo, 1x Neo departures and others have 1x Ceo, 2x Neo departures (first wave).

Was actually looking myself yesterday at taking a winter break. Choice is really poor. Am very disappointed . Can it get much worse?

The airports biggest customer hasn't announced a new route since March 2024, nearly two and a half years ago, through a period of some of the best growth the airport has ever seen. Their second biggest customer seem to be using the Cork base as leverage in collective bargaining. The airline supporting their third biggest European hub connection collapsed. Safe to say it has not been a good 2026 for the airport and there are no signs of things getting better.

Ryanair will get annoyed at something in Shannon soon enough and pull a lot of there into Cork and then vice versa in another few years. Repeat& repeat & repeat

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,919 ✭✭✭snotboogie

Thats not been the story post covid though, both Cork and Shannon grew significantly vs pre covid traffic with Ryanair, it's not like Cork was cannibalising Shannon's Ryanair traffic. Something seems to have flipped in mid 2024 for Cork though, whether that's post covid incentives running out and/or the very public DAA comments in July 2024 advising airlines to fly out of Cork due to the Dublin Airport cap, which Ryanair strongly rebuked and aligns with the timeline of no route being added to Cork since.

I would be very interested to see what if anything they have up their sleeve in Cork Airport. Other than repairing the relationship with Ryanair there seems to be nowhere else to meaningfully grow. The projections of 5 million pax by the early 2030's seem a long way away now.

Technically it was December 2023 when CRL, ZAD and RHO were announced. CIA was announced in May 2024 but that’s only an airport swap so I don’t think that really counts.

It looks like FR will have 2 based a/c this winter aswell. Just backwards they are going. The airport needs to sort out these fees, their two based airlines have had no actual growth in nearly 3 years.

They have a long term growth deal there though.

Apologies if this has already been discussed but I am travelling to Portugal in August & was wondering if the 100ml rules still applies in Cork. I know they are renovating the airport so was hoping they had the equipment updated, thanks
