You could do it yourself with a wall, measuring tape, a marker, a screwdriver and a Google search

Hi everyone, I have a few items for Ev6 for sale if anyone interested (@ mods, hope this is ok!)

Official Carpet mats, official rubber mats, official rubber boot mat. PM if interested. All in perfect condition

Probably best to move this to the “For Sale/Wanted” thread at the top. A few photos and an asking price. If they’re in good condition, they’ll sell quickly

Picked up a new EV6 a few weeks ago. The auto dipping high beams wont dip when a car approaches but will dip when I go into a well lit area. Had a 2022 EV6 before this and the dipping was slighly slow but it did work. They gave me a 2023 one for a few days last week when I had it in for a small fix and it dipped straight away once it saw another set of lights. Dealer seemed clueless when asked about it, said they would check it out but came up with nothing.

So many new safety beeps and symbols on the new model compared to the old one that I'd be surprised if function is gone but the did get rid of the reversing chimes so maybe it is. Anyone else notice this??

Have u matrix lights on the new EV6. I have them on 252 ionic 5 and like you thought lights weren't dimming for traffic either for 1st night but I realised nobody was flashing me either. On a narrow country lane you can see the matrix lights working shutting down for on coming traffic, however main beams icon stays on in the screen. It does go fully to dim in lit up areas

they are staying up. Symbol on dash changes colour when they dim. Blinded a few people in the first week or so to see if they would eventually dip. Got halfway through the jack Lynch tunnel yesterday before auto lights came on. Updated system on car as well but no joy. Going to have to head to dealer again but don’t think they will be much help based on previous experiences

Found on previous ionic 5 that they were always just a touch slow to dim, (but they would dim), you'd be about to dim manually when they'd kick in. If not shutting down at all its probably a dealer visit. Frustrating. Auto dim lights are around a long time not exactly a new technology

Yes noticed as well with the auto lights, the led segments do turn off when oncoming traffic but the blue "full beam" icon does not change to green. But like yourself no one flashes so lights working fine, suppose it's just a little quirk on the ev6/ionic5

Going to replace all my tyres. Any recommendations for good midrange ones?

So I've downloaded the desktop app and loaded the latest infotainment software onto a USB but the car doesn't appear to be recognising the usb/software and isn't giving the option to 'update' in the settings. Any ideas thanks?

I had problems before and formatted my USB stick to exFAT. I updated last week without drama.

Thanks for that but the desktop app reformatted it on install so I'm not sure if that's it? Will try it this evening anyway though cheers

So that didn't work. Any suggestions most welcome!

The most likely scenario is it doesn't like your usb stick. What size is it? Probably best trying a different one. I have a verbatim one but I previously tried a different one and it wouldn't recognise it. It seems to be picky.

Have tried two now, a 64 and a 128 iirc..

Were they both the same make? Worth trying a different make if they were.

Does anyone pay for the privilege of OTA updates or is that considered not good value for money?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 504 ✭✭✭vinniem

Nah not paying for that, seems to be updates every 6 months and easy to do with laptop and USB key

Is a service plan when buying a new one worth the money?

M.I.L. is about to pull the trigger on a EV2 and is being offered a €450 option for the first 2 services. They couldn’t tell me what’s included in it “yet” as there isn’t an official release on it so they’ve sent on the EV3 servicing schedule….

It is 2years/30k km and 4 years/60k and only seem to have basic stuff in it, no tyres etc. Not sure if there is a coolant change needed with KIA.

    Is the €450 worth it?

Asking here as people should be approaching service no.2/3bon the EV6s and should be similar, thanks.

I had it included on the price when I bought my EV6. It's not really worth it unless you are doing the mileage. I'm 16 months in and have 25,000 km on the clock. That would be a single service in 2 years/30,000 km. Mine is 3 years, 60,000 km so it'll probably hit 2 services, so it's essentially covering the servicing costs for them if I trade in at 3 years.

I'd shop around dealers and see who gives you the best offer. I had a dealer come down €800 when he thought he was going to lose a sale.

    Thanks.

This is a brand new EV2, not sure I can get anything of the list price with already getting the free charger and a 500 voucher. Just wanted to double check on the service add on… definitely won’t do the mileage on it, it will be pretty much a local run around.

Will tell her to leave it off and pay on the 2year/30k km mark as she might move on after 3 years and end up losising the money on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,711 ✭✭✭stimpson

There is usually some room to negotiate. I got the SuperValu voucher and charger also. And a years motor tax. Visit some other Kia dealers and see what they are offering. You have nothing to lose.

Were you trading in a car? Or buying outright?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,711 ✭✭✭stimpson

I was trading in. Buying for cash would give you better leverage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭ffocused

My 24 month EV6 service cost €125 and 48 month was €171 so €450 seems a bit steep to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 552 ✭✭✭Izy

Thanks for this! Exactly the info I was after.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 504 ✭✭✭vinniem

Where are you getting this great price, my Kia garage charges €199 for EV6 service 30000km/2yrs? Thought all Kia garages had to charge the same 🤔

Even at €199 per service it will be cheaper than the €450 she was quoted
