The Grand Old Duke of York marched his 10,000 men up a hill and down again achieving nothing either according to the nursery rhyme 🤣😅

For once you are probably correct.

It doesn`t look like a skirmish. It looks like the genocide they carried out and are still carrying out in Gaza.

Which is not even true. Whilst it would be illegal for a government to force civilians at gunpoint to go to infrastructure that is likely to be attacked by a foreign enemy, them choosing to go there voluntarily would not be an issue at all.

The problem is they don't know they are incompetent...I suppose that's what incompetent is.

Arrogance, pride, bullying, avarice....all of the bestest and bigliest traits on show.

    That explains it.

The problem is deeper than this though. Much, much deeper.

The fundamental problem is Trump. Trump is the obvious core of this, along with the US system itself but one thing at a time.

Trump is fundamentally a demented, racist, lecherous f*ckwit with no impulse control of any kind. He has virtually no capacity for long term memory and as a result is incapable of linking today's action or inaction with tomorrow's consequence. This explains the Iran war. He needed a distraction from the Trump-Epstein files and Iran is a much smaller and weaker country than the US so its value as a target is obvious providing of course that one is a psychopath with the mental acuity of a goldfish. Naturally, Iran's mountainous terrain, it's geographical position, its oil, its government and so on were never considered for a second.

For a theocratic regime on the ropes, an unprovoked assault from the Great Satan is the best thing that could have possibly happened. It'll refocus people's attention and priorities and take most of the heat off. Individuals can always be replaced. That said, there won't be any winners. The salivating loons will believe Trump's lies about this being a victory and all that will remain is to count the cost in lost lives and money. Whatever that cost will be, it'll once again be too much to deflect from the Trump-Epstein files.

Hard to disagree with any of that tbh, another problem is the layer of people at that operate in society that never really experience real consequences for poor decisions/failure/criminality.....

Trump should have been imprisoned/reduced to penury/irrelevant long ago.......before he ever got to this position .....incompetence should come with non-negotiable prices levied in a timely fashion....

its a symptom of a sick society where in an individual like this is not just tolerated but even admired by a sizeable cohort....and treated as some sort of messiah by others.

    The dregs of humanity.....

Reports the US threatened the Vatican over its position on Iran, referring to the Avignon Papacy. That started when Philip IV of France captured the Pope and forced him to move to Avignon. The Papacy became a puppet of France for about a century. Reports Elbridge Colby, the Under Secretary of State for Policy at the Department of Defence/War, said the US “has the military power to do whatever it wants in the world. The Catholic Church had better take its side.”

The US doesnt seem to have the power to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

“The United States,” Colby said, according to a blistering new report by The Free Press, “has the military power to do whatever it wants in the world. The Catholic Church had better take its side.”

One U.S. official present at the meeting brought up the Avignon papacy, a period in the 14th century in which the French monarchy bent the Catholic Church into submission, ordering an attack on Pope Boniface VIII that led to his downfall and subsequent death and forcing the papacy to relocate from Rome to Avignon, a region inside France.

The ex President of Honduras, who was pardoned by Trump despite convictions for drug trafficking, is in the US courts trying to get his conviction expunged. The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals rejected his appeal, and vacated a lower court ruling I assume was in his favour. Steve Bannon has also tried this (not for drug trafficking), and unfortunately SCOTUS vacated a lower court order upholding his convictions in the DC court because of his pardon.

I watched some of Lying Leavitt answering some questions last night for once she looked rattled and she appeared unsure of herself normally she is arrogant and spiteful but not last night. Even see is beginning to see the horror show she is being asked to support.

The natural consequence of Americans' pathetic fawning over the wealthy.

They all see themselves as soon to be millionaires and so vociferously oppose any kind of tax on wealth, capital or property. If it weren't for the military-industrial complex and corruption, there'd probably be no sales taxes or income taxes over there.

Yes, Trump should have been done for racism, corruption, embezzlement, etc but he wasn't and we are where we are. Power corrupts and concentrating so much power into the hands of a tiny, corrupt few with malevolent intentions has led us here.

Only now....she must be another moron so.....

Tbh, I think that's letting her off easy, these people know exactly what they signed up for, they chose a side, they should never be let forget how they debased themselves when the pendulum swings back.

WWatching BBC news and basically what the UKare saying is they didn't send ships to Iran because Putin is sniffing around Britain and Europe . Did Trump take his eye off Russia ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,339 ✭✭✭Stanley 1

Trump would see it as a victory and would continue away on Truth Social.

Trump has never "had his eye on Russia" unless you mean "working to aide them".

In his brain, might is right and if you can do something or take something , then you should go ahead and do it.

Trump has a view of the world where the "Big Three" (in his mind) control the world.

The US controlling the Americas , Russia controlling Europe and China controlling Asia.

It's a bullies wet dream of global power without any thought for decency or humanity - Two traits that Trump has proven over and over again that he does not have.

Great point I have often thought the same myself. Its a charade at the best of times. Let the looney media types have him all to themselves. I don't understand how serious journalists allow themselves to be treated in such a debasing manner by Leavitt and Trump.

I actually have begun to ignore them its taken me awhile but I have decided enough is enough.

Acknowledged, Iran has a lot to lose. It's that the ceasefire doesn't, IMO, cover the conflict in Lebanon. I reckon the Israeli Govt is using the Iran-U.S-Israeli war for it's own benefit to try and ensure Southern Lebanon is cleared of Shia Muslims it sees as a threat to Israel, a buffer zone again, whatever about it adding to Israel's territorial grabs. That includes both H'ezbollah and Amal militia groups. Until now, it was a lesser conflict because Iran was the bigger picture most everyone was seeing in the news regardless of the source.

I don't think that Iran saw this possibility coming during what was happening in the war even though it's fairly obvious Trump was being played by Benny & his compatriots in Jerusalem and Washington.

I didn't tune in at all during his first term as id it marked as a social media disruption event, and from living in NY in the 80/90s I knew Trump was a grifter. His lies then were whoppy then, he took personal credit for clearing the mob out of Atlantic city ffs!

But when they reelected him I've found it most interesting as I knew we were witnessing the end of the US era.

It's unravelling at a good clip, I'm expecting a major USD devaluation in the near term.

I did this a long time ago. Now I'll still keep informed on what they're saying and doing either on here or elsewhere but actually watching or listening to Trump or the likes of Hegseth and Leavitt repeatedly lie on a daily basis? Nah, fúck that.

    ^This, pretty much.

Solar, in the Irish context, is more of a mitigating factor than a fix, because of the hours of peak consumption. Even the ESB observes that this makes Ireland more dependent upon fossil fuels.

    https://www.esbnetworks.ie/customer-support/customer-support-queries/manage-my-energy-usage/is-this-a-good-time-faqs/details/is-this-a-good-time---section-1---about-the-programme/when-is-peak-electricity-usage

Part of it is purely economics. Contrary to popular belief, oil-friendly Texas is installing more renewable energy generation capacity per capita than pretty much anywhere else on the planet, even famously green-friendly California. I personally had 11.5kw of panels put on my house. Whilst I acknowledge the environmental benefits, and to a small point the energy independence benefits (They won't power the house in a blackout due to nothing more than a camping battery in the garage), the only reason I, and the grid electricity supply companies, are going renewable is because of the economic benefits: It saves us money. If I had needed a house capable storage battery (eg Tesla Powerwall) to get best use out of the panels the economics would not have been in favour and I, for one, wouldn't have done it. I would assume the grid companies came to a similar conclusion.

However, the reason it's viable as a grid power source for us in Texas is that the time of day of peak use starts at 1pm, when the sun is at its brightest making it a power boost when most useful. The sunlight levels in Ireland are not sufficient between 5pm and 7pm to make solar particularly viable for anything other than a fuel consumption reduction system earlier in the day.

As a result, retrofitting for energy efficiency is going to be necessary to ensure the viability during peak hours of whatever other sources (wave, wind) can be sourced which will provide anything after the sun goes weak as it seems unlikely that just those sources could power all Ireland's home and office needs without retrofit. Some form of backup would still be required, and the obvious answer to that is nuclear. France is likely to end up doing quite the booming energy export sector helping all those other countries out which flat refuse to do the sensible thing and set up their own nuclear generation capacity.

The UK should stop the King's visit too.

And no one should attend their 250th celebrations.

If Iran get control of the straits its better than any nuclear weapon and the US looks the other way or its as a compromise, especially if the crime family gets a cut.
