The price at the pumps went up, not down. My local Applegreen went up 3c/litre between Tuesday and Wednesday night. Wholesale price goes up and the price goes up within hours…wholesale price comes down and it takes weeks to see it

Leavitt really is a loathsome creature. She was asked by a journalist how the US could claim the moral high ground when Trump had threatened to eliminate the entire Iranian civilization. She responded by stating that Trump absolutely had the moral high ground and that, frankly, it was insulting for the journalist to suggest otherwise.

The journalist tried to respond saying "With all due respect" but was ignored by Leavitt

Vance in Hungary stated that it made no sense for Ukraine and Russia to be fighting 'over a few square kilometres'

Hegseth was licking his lips and thanked God as he namechecked Iranian leaders that were dead

This Trump administration is truly the pits

UK authorities are busy googling for any group called Lebanon Action so they can designate them a terrorist organisation

Sure the UK is fine about these threats too https://news.sky.com/story/iran-war-latest-254-people-killed-by-israeli-strikes-in-lebanon-today-says-civil-defence-service-13509565?postid=11486311#liveblog-body

That is a report on the same article from NYTimes that @fits posted earlier .

Interesting that it is now in The Times of Israel !

Guess it shows Binji in a strong hawkish light which no doubt his similarly minded fans are in favour of .

Trump back mentioning Greenland. There’s just no end to the bs.

Imagine actually referring to what is going on in Lebanon as a "skirmish". Huge amount of innocent civilians, including children murdered. One million people displaced. Towns completely razed to the ground. Just a wee "skirmish" says the leader of the free world.

He is a truly vile, deplorable human being.

I remember someone here lamenting that the USA must be getting run by committee after witnessing Biden's shocking and frail debate performance; that Biden himself could be nothing more than a puppet.

Perhaps that was true, but it's looking a hell of a lot better than the current scenario where another old man rules by edict, surrounded by sycophants apparently too afraid to tell him their actual shoe size, never mind insisting that he take a sensible course of action on various policies foreign or domestic.

So, Trump admits here that there was no "real deal" along with the usual limited vocabulary threats blah blah blah.

What kind of person who, when negotiating, is marched right up to the brink and then backs down without securing a definitive agreement? I'll answer that - someone who hasn't a fu**ing clue at what they are doing.

    The worst negotiators.

Incompetence in human form, so way out of their depth.

And his incompetence is playing out on the world stage. This isn't some shakedown of a tenant that is done behind closed doors.

And that's putting aside the ridiculous language used by Hegseth and Leavitt yesterday, bragging about a phenomenal deal achieved and mission accomplished.

    It's absolutely shambolic. Farcical.

Why does the media turn up for press briefings with lying, disgusting and rude hag levitate surely it would see her out of a job

We need both tbh, can't expect people to live in freezing houses because the building standards were neglected by previous governments.

Previous generations penny pinching is resulting in a lot of deferred costs coming due ay the same time. Even if we have to borrow to fund the investments we need, its cheaper than inaction now as ot costs way more to fix later on

You'd be absolutely sick and tired of the daily doses of depravity coming out of this administration. But I think the defenders and enablers are even worse in many ways. It's disgusting and frankly tiring. And I see Trump is back to Greenland now again.

IMO , if JDVance goes up for election is his ‘ visit’ to Hungary ‘high quality fodder ‘for the Demos - ie siding with Russian side , a side that the US and their TRADITIONAL ALLIES have been weary of since the 2nd world war

Avignon papacy? Really? Ask your US Catholic friends and relatives whether Harris would have done this.

And Vance for sure is polishing his POTUS bona fides /sarcasm

Is this the 15 th war that Trump is now on the CUSP of ‘stopping’ !!!!!!!!?..

That dispicable piece of trash Hegseth has been taking lessons from the master on how to deal with press. He is quite disgusting just at a personal level, whatever about his 'policies'. You might expect a charm offensive from this administration towards the news organisations, but they go so far in the opposite direction its hard to see how they expect any favourable comment at all.

At 4 minutes on the video.

When Trump all capsed 'NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS' i presume he meant for Iran, for US nothing is still off the table

    Ban billionaires

Did Trump say that if Iran did not open the Strait by Tuesday that it will take him only 4 hours to ‘ wipe the Iranian civilisation ‘off the map’. In the meantime the Iranians have decided to form human chains around a lot of the infrastructure, . I am surprised that Trump did not reduce the 4 hrs to , say, 3 hours because of a lot of the population coming together in groups

When Trump found out about the human defensive chains he tweeted that it was illegal for them to do that 🙄

    HRC in 2016:

"“Donald Trump says we shouldn’t have done the deal. we should have walked away. but that would have meant no more global sanctions and Iran resuming their nuclear program, and the world blaming us. so then what? war? telling the world ‘good luck, you deal with Iran’? of course, Trump doesn’t have answers to those questions. Donald Trump doesn’t know the first thing about Iran, or its nuclear program. ask him. it will become very clear very quickly. there’s no risk of people losing their lives if you blow up a golf course deal. but it doesn’t work like that in world affairs.”

    Prescient. But, her emails.

I'm surprised he mentioned Greenland again, I thought he'd have Cuba locked in and ready to covet first as an easy win.

The USD has gotten a bounce with oil shock, but it does look as if that trend is starting to wain. The best explanation I've seen is that because the GCC simply aren't earning anything at the moment they're under more domestic pressure to sell their T-Bonds than buy more.

I think nearly all the GCC countries have established central bank currency swap arrangements for trade in Yuan, so even if Trump walked away the petrodollar will have been hit below the waterline.

Before someone else notes it, the Japanese carry trade was already unwinding as the rising domestic interest rate was more attractive.
