It sounds within the bus, the drivers indication is a light on the dash and a ding which sometimes doesn't sound

I have never seen the buses so busy than they are currently. Every bus I get seems to be standing room only or even going past full and this is off peak. In years gone by I only ever remember buses being full at rush hour and maybe the odd time if there was an event like a match or a concert now its all the time.

From what I can see out and about, there is a significant switch to public transport since the fuel price spike. Trains yesterday were as loaded as they are on Thursdays (busiest in-office day of the week).

There is also a constant drip of companies giving up WFH which is adding to rush hour.

It mostly seems to be demographics that wouldn't typicially own a car anyway students and the like. More an observation I've noticed over the last year or so.

Just got a reply from the complaint about the 45a responding late to the stop bell and the switchboard guy replied, saying the bus stopped there for 28 seconds.

Again, it's like these people actually are barely able to read the leters.

Sounds like you rang the bell late, and then the bus stopped at its next stop for twenty-eight seconds. The twenty-eight seconds would be the length of time that the door was open.

Yes, but they didn't seem to read my letter to know that the driver refused to open at first, claiming I hadn't rang the bell when I had. It's like they can't read most of the letter.

The C routes have been overloaded all the time. Worse Tues-Thurs as hybrid workers tend to WFH Mondays and Fridays.

Just a guess but another possibility is that you've pressed the button but it didn't register (happens with those Bluetooth buttons). Have you looked at the screen saying that the bus is stopping? I've seen one passenger a while ago having this issue with even a few buttons one after another.

It was already red but he was still speeding down. Ignorant of it.

Or (and I suspect this is what happened) he pressed it slightly too late for the bus to stop comfortably and safely until the following stop. Either way, the sort of person who'd take the time to make a complaint about something so trivial is not usually worth entertaining. Some day, he might have a genuine complaint… they'll see the name and just dismiss it.

It is also very possible that a situation unfolded on the road that focused the drivers attention so he/she may have missed the fact the bell was pressed.

Happened me one day getting the bus I pressed the bell at the same time a motorcycle cut in front of the bus which quite rightly focused the drivers complete and full attention but as a result he didn't realise the bell was pressed.

People simply dont realise levels of awareness and concentration it takes to drive a 18 tonne vehicle in a city dealing with idiot taxi drivers, electric scooters, cyclists with zero regard for the rules of the road and pedestrians who simply wander out onto the road.

There should be new rules for these stopping bells, because sometimes drivers don't open the doors fully, not letting the stopping bell reset. I've seen some drivers not let the doors fully open

The e1 at Nassau St twice cancelled. Next bus in half an hour.

Kelly's recovery in Kilmacanogue is now up to 3 on the double decker count.

Presumably Go-Ahead are not sending their best buses to Wicklow anymore.

These buses were involved in accidents where someone died. They are awaiting further inspection etc.

If they were involved in fatal accidents then it's more likely they're being held by the gards while they investigate the incidents

The 19 (or some of them, anyway) seems to have been rerouted down Ballymun Road rather than coming down St. Pappins, but I can't find any info about it online, anyone hear/know anything?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,673 ✭✭✭VG31

It was probably a driver going the wrong way. The 19 and E2 are on shared rosters. I've been on 19s going the wrong way 3 or 4 times and I don't use it often.

The 23 and 24 are also on the same roster but I've yet to see a driver go the wrong way.

Really all three of them the only one I recall was the accident outside Bray station

I've seen it twice in the past week. Wonder was it the same driver both times 😆

A woman in her 80s sadly passed away several days after being struck by a bus turning left from Blackrock Main Street onto Bath Place on March 25th, 2026.

Got another milquetoast reply from the NTA.

TFI’s customer service team currently supports queries across multiple transport operators, which can sometimes result in delays while we gather the necessary information from the relevant parties. For your information, if you fill up the webform, you can also attach a letter with more details and it will reach the correct team and a case will be raised to help you out, a team member will be in touch with you through your email. It is almost like an email that you will be sending the team by filling the form.  Regarding direct contact with transport operators, we appreciate your perspective. The current model was designed to streamline customer service and ensure consistency across the network. However, we recognise that there are areas for improvement, and your feedback will be shared with our management team as part of our ongoing service review.

It's like they can't admit their system is ****.
