Getting the sense they won't call anymore to interview for AP standard, I feel the extension was just to place as many as they can into posts before the next one goes live. What do you all think?

I don't know. Although I have just been shortlisted after another batch of application forms was reviewed. There's hope yet!

That's great news. Congrats .Do you mind me asking what your original OOM was and how you got notified. Now that the old platform is gone.

When you say just been shortlisted, do you mean in the last few weeks or more recently? PAS e-mailed me on 09/03 to say they had shortlisted up to 526 on the open and 340 on the interd and on 10/03 they said that that was the final batch with no further plans to shortlist for the competition.

Frustrating, because I'm 555 on the open and 361 on the interd. Mind you, I don't think I would get an interview even if I passed shortlisting at this stage.

I contacted PAS on 12/03/26 about any further shortlisting of application forms at stage 2 (open):

A shortlisting board set up by the publicjobs met from 2nd to 5th March 2026, where they examined and assessed the applications of candidates up to open 526 OOM from Dublin. Results have not yet issued to candidates, but they typically do within two weeks of the last date of assessments.

I was 400ish OOM in Stage 1. Since then, I've received email confirmation that my application has been successful at Stage 2 shortlisting and given a new merit order for Dublin Batch 3.

I checked in 2 weeks ago and they hadn't finished calling batch 1.6 😬

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 DublinCS2023

thanks for that! Does anyone know if 1.6 is the end and then into batch 2?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1 albert_anon

Emailed them last week to find out how many people ahead of me, and it was only 5 more than my OOM in batch 2. So it looks like they're down to the final few in 1.6

Grateful if someone could give me the email address to contact Public Jobs on to request information on panel progression for this competition please? (I'm lost since we've had our profiles and messages deleted on their platform tbh!)

I emailed yesterday to check my own status. I was told there were six ahead of me before I'm called for clearance. I was 17 in Batch 2.2 since March 10th. Seems like things are moving quickly enough.

whoa that's much quicker than I expected, I'm not far behind you. great info thanks

InInteresting I wonder has anybody been called to interview since they closed the old system?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 DublinCS2023

can someone explain how clearance works? If you don’t want to let your current job know about the role, can you keep them off as a reference?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 567 ✭✭✭skidmarkoner

No they want to speak with your current employer, if its CS to CS they contact your HR who then contact your line manager/ managers.

Usually that reference check is the very last step in the process though, right before they assign you to a Department.

No one from batch 3 called to interview yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 DublinCS2023

ah ok great - has anyone got a timeline of how long clearance lasts?

Im in the process now as a 2.1 candidate. Theyve explained that they'll ask me for permission for my references to be contacted, before the send the request. I have my department already. They sent that out within a couple of days after the call for clearance.

Spoke to HR in the department and they said they'll be in touch once clearance is sorted.

Does anyone know if theres anyway to appeal department?

I seen people on Reddit ranking after me get health (where I'm an SME), I had emailed clearance and said if there was a any opportunity to match skills and departments health or children would be where I could perform-this was acknowledged, and then got justice the next day.

No I don't believe there is any way to have them change it. I know of cases where a person on both the Open and Interdepartmental turned down one of the streams and then was offered a different department when reached on the other, so for example turned down Justice on Interdepartmental but on Open got Education. But they had to wait to be reached on the second panel.

There’s no grounds for appeal because that is the process being followed. It’s annoying but its considered fair.

On the reference thing - don't assume they'll tell you before they contact your employer. They told me they would but then didn't. Thankfully my employer didn't mind.

thanks for the heads up! How long between you called for clearance and them reaching out to references? My sister is a few away from being called I think and trying to work the timelines out !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,918 ✭✭✭madds

Once I returned my reference details they contacted my referees within 24 hours

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,918 ✭✭✭madds

Garda vetting can take anywhere between 4-6 weeks I'm told. Once through that the Clearance team pass your details (CV etc.) over to the HR team in the dept you're assigned to. Your experience is reviewed by that dept's senior mgt team at which point they decide which unit to place you with. HR told me that final step can take up to 4 weeks. So all in, once you enter the Clearance process you could still be 6-10 weeks away from starting.

Forgot to say I'm currently about 3 weeks into the Garda vetting process, having come from Batch 1.6.

FYI - I am 9 on the interD for batch 2.2 and got confirmation last Friday (24/5) there was only 3 ahead of me in the interD and 10 in the Open. Not sure if anyone else is on batch 2.2 has anything different.
