Tracey said on her instagram that she is moving into television work

Just Saw Tracey Clifford presenting the Six o'clock show on Virgin Media Television earlier this evening.

Why is moving to a different daytime slot a demotion? Her career seems to be getting stronger with the dual radio & TV gigs.

I wouldn't call drivetime a demotion, unless it's from the breakfast slot.

I think he's a genius. Reshuffle, revamp or relaunch the schedule every six months, so when the listening figures come out, he has a ready-made excuse: "We've just had a relaunch, and the numbers won't be great until the new schedule has had a chance to bed in." Except it'll never get a chance to bed in.

The real problem is the organisation that keeps buying his excuse.

I'm just thinking of the combined salary of Dan Healy and Patricia Monahan (eyewatering) and wondering is this the best they can come up with?

Demi...Oh my sweet Lord...how did she manage to get on the radio. Her complete lack of general knowledge is astounding.

I only listen to the radio in the car and I immediately change when I hear her now.

I remember Demi talking to a lady from Wicklow one day and saying Oh isn't Wicklow famous for strawberries. The lady corrected her and said I think you mean Wexford. The lady from Wicklow had to explain it's called the Garden of Ireland etc etc.

It's one county down from Dublin hun.

Lifelong Dublin resident here, I'm in Wicklow (mostly Bray/Greystones) pretty much every week...

Its a shame Tracy is going as she is one of the best on the station. Any musician she has on always seem to genuinely like her and she always champions up and coming irish acts.

That Demi girl is only there because she ticks off several of the boxes that need to be ticked these days imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭its_steve116

She's in The Young Offenders which is a very popular franchise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 75 ✭✭matrix mick

So i take it you've seen her "acting" in that they yeah?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,323 ✭✭✭ford fiesta

Tracy seems to be the last of the peak / daytime presenters with an interest and enthusiasm for music. I doubt there will be any studio 8 sessions with new or established acts in that slot with the new show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,281 ✭✭✭RoTelly

And she know that there are very little acting jobs in Ireland, particularly in TV comedy.

I would have thought if they real want to pretend that 2FM is Public Service Media those would be the type of things they'd keep.

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

She thinks she's more a celebrity than she actually is.

    A headwrecker I'd imagine

You mean Louise Cantillion is not the first person to marry a hurler and be a Gaeilgeoir? I'm shocked…you'd swear she was the first, the way she shoehorns it into everything.

Female in 'being excited for her wedding' shocker.

When this (yet another🤐) 2FM weekday schedule starts and breakfast runs from 6am to 10am, it will be the first time since March 1988 that the 2FM mid morning 3 hour slot will not start at 9am, for a full time presenter.

The 9am to 12 noon slot dates back to when Gerry Ryan took over from Jimmy Greeley (who at that point was starting at 9.30 am).

Others before Jimmy (such as Ian Dempsey, Jim O'Neill, Paul Clark, Vincent Hanley) started at 9am and sometimes 9.30.

I don't recall Ian Dempsey and Jim O'Neill doing the mid morning slot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,281 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Ian mentioned in an interview with in a podcast a while back. I don't think he was there that long.

Ian presented mid-mornings from 1982 - 1983. Jim took over from Ian, until Jimmy Greeley stabilised the slot from 1984 - 1988.

It is also worth noting that Paul Clark took over this slot from original presenter (since launch) Vincent Hanley in early 1981 (when Vincent moved to 11:30 and shortly after left for Capital in London)

Also during these early 80s periods I can see from the old schedules that presenters such as Mark Cagney, Ciana Campbell and Stevie Bolger covered the mid morning slot on occasion !!

I wonder will the first hour be pre recorded and be live from 7

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,273 ✭✭✭✭flazio

No, they've never done that. Most likely, 1 or 2 of them start at 6, 3 of them from 7 to 9 then early starter leaves at 9.

    This too shall pass.

So the whole established (and logical 3 hours apiece) schedule has been junked to allow DG to do a 2 hour show? Good Stuff. Demi and Mikey are staying weekdays which is a surprise I thought they would be going back to weekends when Garrihy came back after maternity leave. You'd have thought that they could have taken her return as a good time to create a morning sofa show on RTE TV

A morning show on RTÉ! Lucky to get a Daytime show running during the winter months!

Demi and Mikey were holding pretty steady JNLR numbers while Doireann was out so might as well try to capitalise on that. Likewise Katja Mia was well received while standing in for Bláthnaid Tracey so they'd be mad to just throw her away.

It's a shame there's no slot for Tracy Clifford but to be fair 10 years in the same slot in 2fm is some going when you think of the changes around her not only in 2fm, but just think of all the Today FM lunch presenters she out lasted. Muireann O'Connell, Máiréad Farrell, Pamala Joyce, controversial guy who's name I've forgotten.

    This too shall pass.
