Missed out by couple points in leadership which is annoying.

Anyone know how often these competitions are run? Is it likely to be another year or two?

It’s hard to know how the panel will move. Does anyone have any idea how many vacancies there are ?
Sorry for those unsuccessful in reaching panel. Definitely try again next time.

Hard luck. I too came up short in leadership 😮‍💨They ran 2 competitions in 2025- May & December. At the very least it’s experience and will be a great foundation for the next time!

Could I ask what overall results you were to place 40 on the panel?

Think you would be needing around 400 for that. Offers have started to trickle through. Best of luck to everyone. I am number 60 so not sure where that leaves me.

Thanks even if I got the 6 extra points I needed for specialist knowledge I would just be on 360 so unlikely id even be offered a place even if I did get on the panel. Takes the sting off it!

Hi sinagh, do you happen to know where the offers are for. I placed in the top 10 but Dublin was not one of my choices.

Separately, do you know of anyone in a previous campaign who didn't get an offer in either of their chosen regions but was able to secure a place further afield. If so I would love to know how that works.

Dublin are the offers I have heard of and one in Limerick. Sorry dont have much info on older panels and was wondering that myself in terms of whether panels gets cleared out or people who make the cut might not get an offer

Congrats to everyone who got on the panel. Unfortunately I went down in Interpersonal & Communication Skills. I was quite nervous. Would anyone have a recommendation for an interview coach? Preferably someone who specialises in public sector interviews?

Anyone have any idea how many roles there are or whether panels usually clear out?

Anyone in the top 10/20 panel placings received an offer yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 JMagus

I’d also be interested if anyone has received an offer and their approximate placement on the panel. I’m just outside the top twenty (Dublin location) and haven’t received one

My colleague got an offer for Limerick but not sure where he was on the list. Like the previous poster would be interested to hear of anyothere and for what locations?

I’m top 20 and only Dublin - no offer yet!

I am just outside of top 10 Dublin and no offer yet!

Sounds like offers so far might be top 10 so!

In one of the previous campaigns, in the area on the application form where you indicate your preferred regions, there was a link to the breakdown of the appointments by region in the previous year. The number of APs appointed via both internal and external campaigns over the past few years are as follows:

    2021 42

    2022 47

    2023 60

    2024 55

    2025 Not yet published

In addition to wanting to find out the number of regional appointments I would also love to know the split between external campaign appointments and internal. Obviously the external campaigns also include serving Revenue staff but at least it would give an idea of the likelihood of getting called from the external panel… or not!!

My colleague in Limerick was in the 20s but may have been in the top in terms of people who put down limerick as destination of choice.

    Hi @AlwaysLate

Do you have a link / source of where you got that information?
Is a breakdown of appointments per region still available - I know you mentioned this was cited on previous application forms

Hi drumcart, the above figures are from the last few Revenue Annual Reports. I cant remember which application form I saw that link on but the link was dead when I clicked on it.

If u search oireachtas.ie u will get even more of a breakdown. I came across it before in answer to a question some TD asked about recruitment and geographic allocation. Can't remeber what exactly I searched but its definitely there.

It's a few years out of date but I had a look on the Oireachtas website now and found this for Dublin:

"I am advised by Revenue that in the period from January 2017 to December 2022, there were 299 Revenue appointments to posts in the Assistant Principal Officer grade, in Dublin. This comprised 105 appointments from Public Appointments Service or Revenue open competitions; 55 from interdepartmental competitions; and 139 from Revenue internal promotion competitions. In addition, there were 108 Revenue assignments at Assistant Principal Officer grade on transfer within Revenue or from another department or organisation; on secondment, or on return from Career Break."

So an average of about 17/18 APs a year from external competitions for Dublin but since the panel has only given us an overall rank and not location specific ones and some people may decide not to accept an offer you'd expect that if they hire a similar numbers of AP they'd have to go a good bit further down the panel than that.

It also looks like from the figures AlwaysLate posted that the numbers of APs hired has been trending upwards in recent years which could mean they'd need to go even further. The annual report is usually out late-April so we should know if the trend of more APs being hired continued into 2025 then. I'm guessing with how quickly they started a new competition that it probably did.

Thank you all for the very helpful insight.

Does anybody know which offices outside of Dublin recruit the most APs in any given year / have the biggest staff number ?

Anyone on this panel also been called for interview for the HEO panel? I’m due to be called for interview next week based on the email I received today. It’s a hard one because I am relatively high on the AP panel in both my locations, but that is no guarantee of an AP offer before the panel expires…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 JMagus

I’d still go for the HEO interview if you’re interested in it. There’s never a 100% guarantee with panels and even if you are offered and accept the HEO position first you can still accept AP if offered it later

    you are right! Thanks

Can i ask how u know u are high placed in both your locations? I didnt think they gave a location breakdown?
