I haven't used him, so can't say. 3 generations of good maternal breeding in him, so you'd expect good cows from him.

I have Shannon Samurai and Drumline S1185 straws already. Both have Eravalle breeding, so that's why I didn't get him.

my old stock bull dropped like a stone to 1 star, have 12 heifers kept off him, could end up in bother for stars in the next few years.

think your ok if they where 4 or 5 star heifers at one time. You could be in trouble when the next scheme starts but that’s not a problem for now.

Some rambling here while I update an excel page of all the PG bulls I'm interested in or use.

Powerful Proper dropped from 4* to 3* replacement. His milk dropped from 4.70kg to -1.90kg since Nov 2024. Other stats dropped a little too. Why was he pushed as a bull to bring back the maternal aspects to the breed. I've two daughters from him I was thinking of breeding from but not with those milk figures.

Shannon Stan dropped a good bit in index value but still 5* Rep and Terminal. Carcass weight and confirmation slowly dropping but still very good figures. Like Powerful Proper his milk started high at 4.20kg and has only dropped to 3kg so he must have milky daughters.

Keltic Rembrandt's figures changed a little, mostly for the better. Milk at 0.50kg, I'm surprised there isn't more records from his daughters to get a higher reliability figure.

Erebos and Nebbiolo have milk at 8.80kg now. They'd be great bulls to bring milk back into a herd that went to far on terminal traits.

Ardlea Rigby's terminal traits have gone up more. 39 kg carcass weight and 2.47 confirmation scale. Very few daughter records. Not a lot of people using him to breed from. Same with Ardlea Rolex.

Tomschoice Oriflamme's figures somehow went up even more. 2.84 confirmation, 35.7kg carcass and only 1.7% calving diff.

Charlois, Recif and Omega figures staying the same, both a little improvement in milk.

Simmental Rathlee Pirate dropped from 5 star Rep to 3 star. Terminal dropped 5 to 4. A lot of PG bulls that are hyped up as being a standout of the breed end up dropping to average.

I may be wrong but it my understanding that milk figures are based on calf and weanling weight gain, if a new bull has just heifers calving last year it may bring down milk figures as they don't milk as well as 2nd ,3rd or 4th lactation. Also creep feeding can skew the figures. In one sense it's good that figures aren't static and are being evaluated as time passes, all this doesn't mean that I have 100% confidence in the figures as I know that there is political decisions being made in icbf to lead/drive us in a certain direction

These are the milk proofs (back to Nov 2024) for LM4407 TWEEDDALE LENNOX. All these proofs are with the genomic profile known for the bull. And this is just one example. There are loads of other bulls like POWERFUL PROPER LM7416. Bulls dropping for Milk from 5 Stars to 1 Star. That tells me that they can't tell anything about milk from Genomic Testing.
