I didn't realise, I could get a third party to do up a Sad, many garages up North point blank won't supply them, or simply have not heard of Tss or Sad. I'm of the opinion that Ni cars advertised as Vrt ready.. Ie on a Ni plate or can supply a sad do, might sell for a higher price, because they have a larger captive audience

They just have an agent that carries out the import declaration. Not a costly exercise at all. Circa £60, and they are plentiful.

Thanks I contacted a customs clearance agent, I explained why I would need a SAD document . they mentioned "a SAD doc is an indicator duty and VAT has been paid at point of entry if for example a dealer in NI imports a car from mainland UK. They also mentioned if the dealer has no intention of selling the car to ROI, they therefore do not need to pay Duty and Vat, and therefore there wont be a SAD doc

If however the dealer , does intend to sell the car to ROI, then duty and Vat would need to be paid by the dealer , and hence a SAD could be issued "

    Are they correct ?

Exactly. Hence it's an extra cost on the dealer to move it on to ROI so there's a fee involved for the SAD process to be conducted.

I assume if they do this (pay NI VAT at point of entry) they can claim back English VAT?
    Or am I misuderstanding

Not sure, but one thing is certain, very difficult to get NI dealers to supply SAD or TSS docs

I am in a similar situation with saltmarine. Did they charged any amount for SAD certificate? They are asking £500 for me to get a SAD certificate.

No you cannot claim back uk vat, pay tge Irish or NI vat and import the car. If ypu know so.eone with an Irish vat number there is a work arou d for them providing they are reselling the car to you

I'm fairly sure CR Morrow said the charge was £200 or £300, I can't quite remember the exact figure but when I went to view and subsequently collect the car the head sales rep said it was included in the price. I therefore was not charged anything other than the sticker price.

In addition the CR Morrow car prices are usually a little lower than SaltMarine
