Correction: I did hear the name, but not with Radio 2!

Under Irelands's Choice, I am really sure this time that I see a name that I had not come across before in this context: Roisin Walsh from Belfast. The others included one Michael McNamara, who would definitely be well-known (and got plenty of mention on this thread over the last few years!), and the rest who have been identified before on this thread.

A listing in the 1981 Radio 2 annual has SSB on Saturday nights at 10.

2FM schedule March 1989. Declan Meehan briefly returns to Radio 2 after being axed around 8 years earlier.

No presenter listed for weekday The breakfast show which Ian would soon take over.

I am not sure why there is a pic of Ruth Buchanan in this article as she was by now, the former presenter of Poporama.

Marty Whelan has just left at this stage for Century which would go on air in Sept 1989.

Barry Lang takes over his Nightime show,

totally weird to have no presenter listed for the biggest show on the station- who did present it ? Iain Dempsey was doing it til he got moved to lunchtime.

thanks so much for this! I always remembered Declan being there for a very short spell before he went over to Century. I think they may even have given him a sung ID with the ‘new sound of 2FM’ jingle package they started rolling out in 1989.

Michael Lyster who's passing was announced yesterday joined RTE in 1979 for the Radio 2 launch and he was one of the first sports newsreaders on the station. He may have read the general news also around this time.
