Sheepdog cross, crossed with what we have no idea. A breeding enigma (a rescue)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,735 ✭✭✭The Continental Op

Not a breed I'd immediately associate with hunting but a dogs a dog :-)

Sheepdog cross greyhound, that would be a definite rabbit hunter.

If you think your dog is bad we've had cats that would wait outside a rabbit hole and pick off the baby bunnies one at a time as they immerged for the first (and last) time.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Make it up as you go along! You came from a rocket scientist conference and are heading to a Ted-X talk on brain surgery next week. Next time you're an archaeologist who specialises in hairstyles from the Minoan period. And so on and so forth.

I see it on a daily basis, when I've pointed it out I get either dogs abuse or a vacant stare from foreigners who pretend they don't understand you and stay on the foothpath.

What passes for fashion amongst the younger generation these days, oversized, ill fitting clothes that do them no favours, I get it, it's all about comfort but it's not a good look, I call it the "slobification" of fashion, they look like they couldn't give a **** about how the look, they look depressed. Then you've got young guys in black shorts (rarely any other colour,) in the depths of winter, with their top halves wrapped up like Nanook of the North, don't get me wrong I live in shorts from May to September but not in winter and definitely not black sports shorts. Sports gear as streetwear is just lazy.

The HSE getting influencers to try and stop people using vapes. These people are more than likely getting paid for this work but are not qualified to talk about the medical effects of vapes.

I remember that psychic program on Virgin got pulled up a few times over medial advice being put forward when they are not qualified.

Reminds of two lads in the pub I worked in that always made up stuff for American tourists. Their best one was that one of them was an Olympic archer and the other was his assistant, "What does an assistant do?" I sit there with the apple on my head!

As long as I exist I’ll never fuçkin get the +3°… big winter puffa jacket…and shorts combo…. 😵‍💫. I’m actually glad I don’t get it, don’t wanna get it. 🤪

TA… literally walking out the door to the hospital with my Dad earlier and his needy family phone looking for him. Yes, another drama, this time financial in nature. I am genuinely pleased with my Dad who this time gave them short shrift, diplomatically but still…. The phrase ‘get in the sea’ comes to mind for every one of them…leave him / us alone, have enough going on right now.

VM have been showing Friends for ages. Looks like they've gone back to the first episode for some reason.

Some look like they got dressed in the dark picking clothes from a dress up box filled with Eastern Europe leftovers from the 70s and 80s.

Dunnes have made the plastic bag \ wrap around their baguettes even flimsier and likely to tear before you get them home.

Public toilets in public parks locked. I'll never understand it.

People who put bunches of bananas in the plastic bags for loose veg in the shops.

Not really trivial, but yes to this, and even more so, what bothers me is where you have seasonal toilets

A public amenity not far from me has decent toilets

Locals getting a stroll in, people walk their dogs every day, older people in wheelchairs as its well paved, kids playground on site which is busy every day

They close the f-in toilets for almost half the year. October to April I think?

I can never understand it. It's a grand job for a CE scheme person as is in place elsewhere. I asked and they said its down to staffing. Employ someone ffs

I couldn't believe it when I read this yesterday. I mean, I could, but I kept thinking how horrific it was for the poor bunnies. I got home from the shops an hour ago and I spotted the cat (who had been part of a local colony but who had hired us as her personal staff three years ago) crouching in the grass. When I got close, I saw she was busy devouring a leveret (🥺😭), she had started from the head. The damage was done, so although I gave out to her I let her eat so at least she wouldn't go and get another. She only left the hind legs, but I think she's only left them for later.

I asked her to show me where she got it from, she looked at me, meowed and walked away. I followed her, she stopped and started sniffing the ground. When I looked closer, there was a drop of blood in the grass.

I mean, they can be cruel, but they are not stupid.

There's only a tuft of fur left, now, probably from the little tail. She zoomed off again to try and get another one but I nabbed her and brought her indoors. She'll be on house arrest until further notice.

I have a space in my printer where things keep getting sucked in, causing the printer to get blocked. I wonder why these spaces are needed? It's part of the lid and is a horizontal chute. I found cardboard had ended up at the back of my printer wheels likely after falling through there.

An auld fella in the Tesco express car park…leaving with his bag of shopping, we are reversing, so reverse lights on and engine running yet he stops directly behind us, a meter distance away, takes out a bar or an ice cream, very leisurely opens it and starts eating. Does he then move on ? no, stands there smugly looking relaxed and seemingly admiring the nearby bus shelter and enjoying his car park snack with the happiest satisfied face, oblivious to a big 1.5 tonne black car a meter and a half away from him with engine running and reverse lights on.💀. Finally, sloth like he ambles off into the sunset. Path was 10 second walk away, out of everyone’s way, tool.

Well, that made me think - a good proportion of the queue on Friday was made up of post-60s wanting coffees/teas and ordering food . . . so perhaps not the pub democ. But I've seen it with tourists/"offcomeduns" in pubs in the Lake District/High Pennines/Yorkshire Dales . . . who then get "chippy" when the locals walk straight up to the bar. I'm going to start paying more attention to this, especially as I'm back in Ireland next month for a short while.

the kids are doing this new thing where they make 'songs' about issues, and absolutely none of the words rhyme.
theres no harmony, no beat, no structure its just done in some kind of autotune with some background jingle and half sung/spoken list of complaints.

    its unbelieveably annoying.

I am surprised this hasn't been brought up - silent but deadly, alcohol fuelled farts in the pub. Mid conversation you look around the table thinking "Which one of them was it?" . You think "If I react that means that could mean it was me." "You smelt it you dealt it" as the maxim goes. As the putrid aroma hangs in the air. You then start to doubt yourself, "Jayus maybe it was me?”. "It doesn't seem like one my ones". "It doesn't even smell human"
