It was pretty broad in scope and hypothetical, i.e how would you react if someone was non performing, etc. I was asked about the last TDM I read, but that was probably the most obscure question. Compared to other AP interviews I've had it wasn't too bad.

Had mine today. They focused heavily on people management skills which I lacked. My advice is to have responses for the areas you are lacking in as well as your examples. I had a couple of tax stories I stuck to and referred back to them throughout the interview. It was hard and I'm not hopeful due to my lack of people management experience and the fact I'm in industry I'm at a disadvantage because I'm not in a pure tax technical role. This was my first public sector interview and I was a little taken back by the lack of personality of the panel. In previous interviews they have always been much more informal

Thanks for sharing that info. This is my first public sector interview as well and nervous about the panel throwing me off. Can I ask are you in a tax role in industry? Just wondering why being in industry would be seen as a disadvantage.

Regarding the panel I found it helpful knowing (from previous posts here) that they move on from questions if your running out of time.... Not because they don't like your answer.

It's not necessarily industry that's the problem for me it's the fact my industry role is not a pure tax technical role. I cover finance and accounting as well.

They explained in revenue there is general APs and APs tax specialists.

Hi Folks, just wondering if anyone got any form of feedback during the interview even subtle compliments or poor reaction. On reflection I'm not sure if examples I provided were sufficiently complex. Would I have known that from the reactions of the panel.

Oh another tip was they Allowed me time at the end to expand on an area if I felt I didn't cover it sufficiently. I got flustered and said no but please please just pick one of your examples are rehash it!!

Does anyone know roughly how long the interview results normally take? Is it 2-3 weeks?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 133 ✭✭Densey12

I expect if interviews finish this week they will be out the end of the month !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 Szech30

Definitely echo the sentiments here that it was intense. Don’t know if that was a good or bad thing. Time will tell I guess, good luck to all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 Zoey12

Oh alright! What were they trying to cover overall when you say intense?

I wonder when we should expect to receive the results. How long does it usually take after interviews finish?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 133 ✭✭Densey12

Interviews again this week !! Usually 2/3 weeks after they finish ! I’d say the last week in March / first week in April !

@Zoey12 People management, tax head knowledge, lots of hypotheticals. I think they were really angling for people with CT expertise for LCD tbh

Are interviews finishing this week or still going on next week does anyone know?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 drumcart

Results out unfortunately unsuccessful on the technical aspects which is not entirely surprising. Good luck to all those successful!

I’m 40s on the panel. Is that good/bad/realistic to get offered a position any time soon? Sorry to anyone disappointed with this round.
